  3. Think that hair style was catching didn'tPip n Kip's mate Paul have blonde stripes in his ghair just above the ears, always looked like a pixie from a distance
  4. Went to a few, once with Brian and Madeline, leasing a few cars down, wierd place inside, was it a converted cinema or theatre, it felt like it?? Cant remember who dj'd Nev. did before that accident don't know if Tony Warrot was involved its been a long time , was it around 79'ish??
  5. Peter, Personally any copies of Chapter five that turn up just increase my potential misery factor, and by that i mean there might be even more chance of me having to hear it ever again The abriged version with 4 chapter sounds good to me But as you are well aware its just my opinion, as is yours relating to my all time fave. the Carstairs See ya soon Paul
  6. -First.....how the devil are you Mark, was it Burslem when i last saw you....."times guy" Second......total agreement i think musically those last 2 years of Sat. nights were the best, we were very much involved with the £modern" scene when it emerged in early '79, with the Tuesdat night Laffeyette sessions with Sam Pep Ian Tyrer and myself playing, with Hargy n Mick Holdsworth all devouring those wonderous tunes, far too many to mention i'll just name drop a few Bobby Thurston Bobby King Peabo Bryson etc....etc..... Richard n Sam were awsome ably assisted by Pat....playing new stuff And then there were the 60's newies....wow Richard n Gary R and Pat of course Keith emerged from a bad patch to rein supreme on the mega oldies, with Evo Bri n Steve. There were those two guest spots Dave Thorley 'n' Chris Plant.......that went down a storm too. Great times had by us all either on the dance floor, verballing or playing "crash" in the little room behind the stage......."i swear guy" But whats best of all is 27 years on we are still at it in 2008, i'm loving it just as much today, thats the legacy of those nights....i missed the Wheel, Torch and Cats, wish i'd done the Mecca more, buy Wigan was my venue.....well after 76 oldies only for 3 years as the poppy white thing ran its course, with me heading to Yate P'boro etc....to get some soul!!! Far too many mates to mention individually, our crowd were me, phil, azza, dave shaw, twins etc................... Ill never forget those times i dont want a shopping centre farce or three before eight, over n over again, just rememberind the times the caps etc......is good for me! To misquote Dickens "it was the best of times, it was the best of times" Harpo

  10. I'm back with a few more Now and again i have had to look long and hard as there a some records that to me are abysmal, yet to most of us seem to be real gems....but no matter how long i have mused i've always come out with the same view as when i started....they sound like sh**e to me HERE'S A FEW OF 'EM Rita & the Tiaras Brooks Brothers Sister lee B McNeir ..Youre gonna love etc....(musical equivalent of Tuinal) Pukie Hudson Syng Mcowan Doug Banks..Kept on dancing Try them for size....even after 30+ years there's not a glimmer of hope for any of 'em from me....thats what's so special we dont have to seek compliancy on our scene...or fit in, its about individuality and a love of "our" music. Harpo
  11. All very personal, and i hope i dont upset too many, but here's a few that spring to mind Arabia,,,,Delcos D Barlow....4 window up thing (gotta say first reaction on hearing it was one of utter dismay) Broadway Sissy Tribute to Betty Stop look and listen....plays locally sounds like euro disco gone wrong I'm slowly moulding....it is slow and mouldy I'LL LEAVE IT THERE NOT EVEN GOING TO THOSE PLACES DEEP IN THE RECESSES OF MY MIND FROM THE 76-78 WIGAN POP STOMPERS....TOO SCARY Harpo

Well what can i say, after my recent post trying to find out his whereabouts, imagine my suprise as when i popped out for a fag coming cross the car park towards me was a portlier grey haired, but unmistakable Ian, he had to ask my name, but its been 25 years, but its not suprising with so many friends over time, Ian was with his partner of 18 years, and spent the best part of 3 hours there with many old mates so obviously pleased to see him, he even graced the dance floor a couple of times The years have it would appear been good for Ian, as he was looking very well, he left saying he would possivly like to come out again, but the mention of a nighter left him saying i'd need 25 cokes to stay awake with a cheeky grin on his face As he DROVE !!! away in his new motor i xouldn't help but think how his appearance had made the night....and that he was so well.
  21. Sorry to hear the news, Sandi and I wish you both success and happiness in any future ventures, and hope to see y'all soon. Thanks for the oppertunity to DJ for you, we always found it a pleasure, having been shown respect and treated as one would wish, and might i add always having been paid, no matter if turn outs were low!! See you soon.......Paul n Sandi xx

Hey just to calm this down , i'm just havin a laugh, nowt personal, been up 3 days with a distinct possibility of it ending up as 4 to 5 I'm sure like me you must look at some threads on here with total disbelief...one lot were asking what the weather was like, i look out the window, or open the door, and how it is in THE NORTH EAST DON'T BOTHER ME A JOT Nor do I CARE WHAT COLOUR SHIT ROLL WAS IN THE BOG WHEN SOME TRACK WAS RECORDED....its knobbishness on a grand scale and i just have to comment at times to highlight the sheer lunacy of it all Oh and finally i must put things right about heads up asses....it can at times be most benificial.....like when riding a push bike on cold frosty winter mornings, as it will prevent unsightly chapping to the ear lobes....however the downside may be some disorientation...as it can lead to problems in seeing where you are going!!!!
