  1. Sensations Demanding Man C/w Gonna Step Aside Drenched in Northern Soul kudos & shimmering with perfectness! Huge tune for “Butch” for several decades now and still as rare as ever, in fact beyond-rare, especially in this utterly impeccable condition. Perfect vinyl & two perfect labels, a glorious example. How many records, can we say have been exhaustively hunted for over 3 decades; and still, there are only a handful known and all in the hands of the dedicated Soul collector/DJs who would rather sell their children than part with 45s of this pedigree. Click the sound-file to unleash total vocal group Northern Soul of the very highest calibre spun by only the vinyl-endowed old-school Top Jocks. We repeat this copy is flawless! When confronted with an urgent vision of overwhelming wanting sucyh as this. But comments like VG-, shallow scuffs, ring wear, marked but plays well, discourage you. Let us assure you, we can find no evidence of any sales boasting this impeccable state, with only one other copy in better than “awful” condition, being sold this century. Do not pass by.. the value of this offering can only go one way. Beyond irresistible…. beyond essential… this is imperative Northern Soul vinyl ownership! As BOTH sides are just mind-shattering vocal-group Northern Soul at it’s best! and it’s condition (we say again) could hardly be finer. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,900.00 Frankie Crocker Ton Of Dynamite DO IT FRANKIE - DO IT!! A totally massive record at Cleethorpes Pier & Wigan Casino mid-70s but in truth all the credit for introducing this benchmark “NS FUNKER” lies in the innovative groundbreaking bravery of the Blackpool Mecca duo of Ian Levine & Colin Curtis who at the time circa 1975/76 were right at the top of their game influencing Britain’s Rare Soul dance trends, with memorable distinctive turntable choices as Prince George - The Wrong Crowd, Delrays Incorporated - Destination Unknown etc etc. THe introduction of Frankie Crocker was so contrastive it, became the catalyst that launched a wave of the Funkier sounds becoming the Northern Soul norm as the sounds of Black Nasty, Rimshots, Brass Construction, Hamilton Bohannon invaded Britain’s all night club scene. Whilst the above recordings have mostly fell by the wayside in recent times Frankie Crocker’s popularity has not only held firm, it as grown up into what can only be describe today, as a total “Floorpacker”. THis copy before is the original first press VINYL copy, with two clean labels. The vinyl has a few minor surface blemishes but as you will hear it plays loud, clean & true. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 460.00 Freddie Butler Save Your Love For Me C/w A 45 with a huge reputation for severe rarity and exclusivity! This example of course being one the the “Ghosts” of the era. Rarely if ever seen for sale. So listen to a magical mix of guitar twangs, tender drum rolls, the compulsory high pitched make vocal group chorus, the occasional girl squeal are cradling Freddie’s easy-powered rich vocal. The winning bid was £ 357.00 Joy Marshall Heartache Hurry On Me C/w He's For Me A recording that proves the Brits are capable of delivering the “Brill Building” sound of New York when required. Check out this almighty Sister version of the Robbie Porter, Roy Hamilton songs that sit deep in the hearts of the Northern Soul congregation as masterpieces of the “NS Beat Ballad” genre. Listen to producer Mike Smith and arranger (Gary Glitter’s mentor) Mike Leander conjure up an orchestra presence that matches both the male versions. As the under-recorded voice of Joy Marshall eases her way in, then smashes this Big Big Song out the ground! The real joy of collecting British productions on British labels is not just confined the the beauty of the PROMO label or the thrill of 50 year old flawless vinyl - it is with with patriotic pride that we can listen to this robust non-hit, comfortable in the knowledge that musically it easily matches up to it’s predecessors.. So we are super pleased today to been able offer this eye-catching original CAPITOL RECORDS 8” acetate of this fabulous UNISSUED Northern Soul session. Full orchestra accompanies culture vocals saturated in Soul, with an arrangement offering everything we love about our sound. The winning bid was £ 343.00 Other Brothers I'm Gonna Fine Love C/w A Little Girl (that I Can Call Mine) Insanely RARE Texas vocal-group Northern Soul backed up with a mid-tempo harmony Soul Stepper. This “impossible” gives up open-wound styled Northern Soul. Manifesting itself as an angry, snarling rasper that cannot be ignored. First championed by Keb Darge back in the restorative days of Stafford’s “Top Of The World” at the time it was allegedly a one-off; today there cannot be many more known copies, as this killer debuts our auction. The a-side is drenched in everything Keb admired in a Northern Soul recording, another in his long list of undercooked recordings.Raw to the bone as the determined lead vocal is perfectly matched up to a honking sax and attention seekingn pumping brass. The rest of the team adding a layer of class to the proceedings with some delightful chorus replies. An inspiring sax break seals the session, making this one of the most-impressive Northern Soul 45s never to reach cult-status…sheer-rarity being it’s only obstacle. Flip it over for a Soulful “Impressions” influenced stroller again bristling with the same enthusiastic naivety that just pulls you in. Street-level Texas Soul at it’s most captivating.. Unimaginably RARE!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 411.00 Variations I Wanna Take You Uptown Vocal + Instrumental The power of the Northern Soul DJ to change values, demand and availability of a 45 could not be more clearly showcased that this example of languishing for decades in collections, suddenly to rocket up to “NS Most-wanted” status, A Northern Soul growler impregnated with a Norman Whitfield inspired sprinkling of FUNK. I recently witnessed it’s floor-destroying capabilities at the wonderful VA-VA-VOOM all-dayer recently - LOUD - it rocked the joint. The time to get on this “NS bullet” is now, value and awareness is starting to boil over and this copy was a Virgin MINT unplayed until the impressive soundfile was milked. You will never find a finer or hotter copy of the Northern Soul NOW Sound. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 233.00 September Jones I'm Coming Home C/w No More Love This week’s “Black Is Beautiful” candidate is from the treasured recordings of “Pied Piper” It matters not which side you drop the needle on, Jack Ashord, Joe Hunter and Mike Terry ensure you’re treated to the pinnacle of Detroit Soul as this single release lady tantalizes with samples of what else could lie in the “Pied Piper” Treasure Chest. Very Rare & complete original 1968 Stax mail shot. Flawless in every way - do not pass Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 23.00 New York City Don't Rush Me Now C/w Deja Vu It is unclear if these are the same guys who started out as “Tri-Boro Exchange” and then in 1972 became New York City to have that monster hit “I’m Doing Fine Now” on RCA. What is clear is - this 1985 indie is one insanely-rare New York Sweet Soul ballad from an out-of-reach Top-Drawer! Check out the sensational mix of vocals, prepare to be moved by the depth of Soul this gathering projects within all the levels of cultured vocals. TOTAL CLASS! This 45 is backed up with crazed string driven Boogie dancer! But in the light of the Sweet Soul side, this Earth, Wind & Fire clone gives me with no desire to wax-lyrical…although it is likewise filled with highly impressive vocals..but it moves me not… flip it.. The Sweet Soul side, is a blow-you-away phenomenal icy-sweet journey and rare in the extreme! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 45.00 Rory Mcdonald Your Love Is Indescribably Delicious You are looking at one the most obscure British offerings to the Northern Soul collector. Thanks, most probably to Johnny Arthey’s penchant for “Soul” that brought him to guide this Scotchman through a fabulous 1968 Ronnie Baker “Philly” composition that Willis Wooten put onto the Northern Soul map. This version, unlike the Willis Wooten, is frighteningly RARE and carrying all the flare we’ve come to expect from an “Arthey” involvement, as the arranger embroiders a wall of horns with and incessant funky guitar riffs for the rough-coated McDonald vocal to rip into. Powerful and highly creditable British take on a Philadelphia in-demander. If you collect English Soul 45s or you want the rarest possible variations of great Soul dance tunes…let us assure you this 45 is ridiculously challenging to locate… Condition is flawless in every way.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 55.00
  2. Barbara & Brenda Never Love A Robin The styrene STOCK copy or even the elusive UK Direction press is currently igniting the dancefloors all over the North Of England. At last this 1968 thumper has wisely been revived to a tumultuous reception. So when I just found a MINT previously unplayed VINYL Promo copy with perfect labels & birth sleeve. I’m thinking this would be a mighty-fine capture for those of you who seek perfection with the Northern Soul classics. Well a sleeping Classic actually, as it has not received too many spins since the Twisted Wheel days.. until now. But it’s long overdue rejuvenation has surely given birth to a NS classic in the making. Potent in-your-face Northern Soul.. as Babara & Brenda Gaskins injecting some Sister-guts to the Tommy Hunt original. We repeat VINYL press in PERFECT condition! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 166.00 Ice Reality C/w Hey, Hey The vinyl equivalent of “Great Star Of India”? maybe not - but certainly the jewel of Soul Sam’s sets! Soaring vocals glide of a raft of cymbals to introduce magnificent twangy guitars that lay down an inevitable dance arrangement nobody can ignore. Fabulously delivered soulful vocals knit into the “Stanley Clarke” level bass guitar rhythm, whilst a lead guitar sings with some innovative background decoration. Rare Soul Dance does not come any better.. but then again what you expect for a Top “Soul Sam” Tune…exactly. Flip it over and there’s no soppy sweet soul ballad to relieve you - no is a punchy fusion of jazz keyboard, those same authoritative guitarist and a booming lead vocal leading an Earth Wind & Fire styled vocal production. Killer Jazz Funk groove, only just a step or two behind that gloriously effect soulful dance lead side. Double joy awaits the lucky new owner… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 3,219.00 The Dorsets Pork Chops C/w Cool It A listing for the UK SUE completest as they will already be aware # 391 in the series is an empty space in most label runs. Guy Stevens & Chris Blackwell’s exploration of American music in the quest to bring the British kids the best variety possible, covered all genres. Blues, Jazz, Soul, Doo Wop, instrumentals they covered it all their indiscriminate searches. This example the pair dug up a 1961 New York R&B doo-wopper of infinite charm, topside side is a mid-paced harmony grove with flip being a frantic uptempo trip into Titty-Shaking territory. Two great sides showcasing SUE’s diverse taste nbd willingness to experiment. This time the experiment spectacularly failed, as it didn’t sell a “Bean” and yet another SUE rarity was born. Condition offers the winner two perfect labels and two vinyl that only reveals the lightest of surface blemishes in strong light. abnd as you can hear it plays perfectly. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 83.00 Dana Valery Not The Flower But The Root Think again if you ever thought this lady didn’t have Soul. Here are Dana’s legendary Brunswick sessions guided by Carl Davis, Willie Henderson & Tom Tom Washington with those two stand-out Northern Soul tracks, that failed to gain release as 45s. “This Love Is Real” - killer Sister take on the Jackie Wilson dancer! “Higher & Higher” - ditto, ditto, ditto “You Babe” - solid 1972 smooth as silk dance groove “Oh Boy” - sweet sweet Soul with full male vocal group back “Have You Seen Him” as above a fine twist on the Chi-Lites classic the other 4 tracks also emit seamless soul grooves… With Sonny Sanders arranging, the 4 main Brunswick motivators, galvanize Dana’s one and only album into one very sought after platter…as upon it’s 1972 release, sales failed miserably.. Condition is impeccable, cover still retains shrink wrap, both labels are perfect, as is the perhaps previously unplayed vinyl. You can hear why Richard Searling was eager to release this lady on his discerning “Go Ahead” label. As this album just rippling with the feelgood factor! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 74.00 Cream Soda Remember The Rain Sweet Soul devotees here’s a deliciously rare one! An icy-cool lead vocal is perfectly naive and emotional with an equally sincere and impulsive vocal group harmony back-up validating it’s endearing D.I.Y. status. There is real charm and wanting within these grooves as the gathering do their utmost to construct a harmony masterpiece. That is where the value lies, in it’s obscurity and it’s obvious “walk in” off he streets hopefulness. A straight to the heart recording as we witness the ambition ofsome young guys trying to make it. Hideously RARE and in supreme condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 56.00 Linda Jones A Portrait Of Back cover AUTOGRAPHED by George Kerr Sung by the world’s greatest ever Soul Divas Autographed by one the worlds most revered Soul producers George Kerr! Ownership of the unrivaled combination is just a click away! Musically unsurpassable Soul! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 80.00 Sean ( Mr. Esquire ) Taylor And The Vic Pitts Cheaters Never Do I Worry ( About You ) C/w Funky Soul Dance One of the very hardest 45s to secure, on this highly regarded Lennie LaCour vehicle for local Soul artists. Milwaukee’s & some of Chicago’s finest came under the spell of the areas most prolific writer/producer. Mr. La Cour who tirelessly not only churned out quality street-level soul but also covering all it’s styles. This particular rarity showcases the man’s versatility perfectly with the a-side giving up spanking upbeat Northern Soul ; with the flipside a offering the dancer solid meaty 60s’s FUNK experience. BOth sides benefiting from muscular horn and snappy vocals. Both sides ideal tunes to ignite the Rare-Soul dance floor; and even more perfect for the discerning collection as this 45 seldom if ever comes to market. Currently only residing in the NS elite DJ boxes, this double-delicacy of the good stuff, is surely now set to grace another DJ set. Once again, insanely rare and offering “Two For The Price Of One” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 321.00 Ken Williams Come Back C/w Baby If You Were Gone The lure of the Okeh Promo - never leaves you does it? Amazingly this beauty has never been bootlegged, re-issued or received enough turntable exposure for it to come under the “oldie” umbrella. Sounds just as fresh and exhilarating as the first time I heard it, circa 1972. Falling into the same category as a few other stand-out NS Okeh’s.. Johnny Robinson, Sandra Phillips jump to mind..truly wonderful Northern Soul that has bemusingly flown over the heads of too many NS jocks. Take a listen, this is exceptional stuff screaming to have it’s day in court. But there’s more, for the vocal group enthusiast “Baby If You Were Gone” is a drop-to-your-knees Soul ballad with a harmony enriching provided by an uncredited group. Shame on me, shame on you, shame on all of us…this should’ve been a Northern Soul Monster decades ago! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 231.00 Charades The Key To My Happiness C/w Weeping Cup Black is beautiful, in this case truly gorgeous.. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL!! One of the greatest NS Dance tunes ever made - it’s steady lift towards the summit of “back-drop” inducing heaven has never been bettered. Relentless in it’s pursuit of total power & dancefloor domination. Rumbling intro, is tickled by subtle tambourines, then the vocals invade! The lead singer keeps pace, his teammates support with oohs, coos, chants and choruses, completely submerging the studio in a mighty wall of sound. Then as if in competition, the horns blow longer and harder, louder and louder until a heart-stopping crescendo is reached! AWESOME! THIS REALLY IS REAL-DEAL NORTHERN SOUL!! If it wasn’t for the all powerful, incomparable A-side the flipside “Weeping Cup” would have become a Northern Soul classic in it’s own right. Two sides to-die-for in a rarely seen head-turning format. Condition is of course unblemished. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 646.00 Marvin Gaye This Love Starved Heart Of Mine (it's Killing Me) THE Original 10” studio acetate. One of only two known copies of this the most sensational of all the Motown unissued recordings to have emerged from those hallowed vaults. THE STORY. Brought to vinyl by an enthusiastic Dana Smart, who after playing it to his boss the head of catalog A&R at Motown. It was decided to be debuted as the lead title on the “Marvin Gaye Classics Collection 1994”, which spawned a limited “Promo Piece” using The Temptations “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep” as a style guide for the retro picture sleeve. Dana’s favourite Motown track was reborn on vinyl and his boss’s favourite track off he CD was picked as the flip and limited quantities sneaked out as a taster for the forthcoming Compact Disc. Only enough to suite the promo purposes were made, and the rest is history..as it rocketed to the very summit of Northern Soul popularity with the dancers, as sparse copies filtered into England. Before you today is the original 10” “DIRECT CUT” acetate, offering unbelievably clear sound in totally Mint condition and studio dated 12/5/94. Fidelity is jaw-dropping..as you are about to hear. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 723.00 Sam Dees Lonely For You Baby C/w I Need You Girl Still a dancefloor destroyer - hard to find the words to fully describe just how popular the rumbling hunk Northern Soul has been over the last 3 decades. The now iconic, but simplistic intro bass line decorated by a thumpin’ piano is the signal to drop everything and join that heaving dancefloor, to skilfully weave your way through 2.40 seconds of imperative Northern Soul. Made vital by Sam Dees roughened vocal, snarling painfully with his plea to see his girl once again, produces the complete mood-shifting experience, set solidly into a uniquely convincing strolling arrangement. Just Monstrous, no matter how many times you hear it - it will move you. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 627.00 Bro. Byron Booty Whip C/w Money Tree Rare California FUNK - and some..! From the streets of L.A. Central comes some heavy-duty-FUNK instructions, E. Rodney Jones style, Brother Byron snarls commands to do the “Booty Whip” whilst a jazzy piano and down n’ dirty sax drive the rhythm. Filthy suggestive Funker with great key changes that signal the horns to stride in.. then towards the end that talented keyboard player goes off on a Ramsey Lewis trip. Insane stuff.. Flip it over and this rare indie gives up an equally inventive performance evoking visions of orange flares, broad rimmed red floppy hats, weighty gold chains hanging around the neck of the neighborhood Pimp, as he’s struts his block.. Rippling with “Blackploitation” attitude.. totally fabulous also, in it’s own unique way.. Two unconventional tunes that creep under the skin… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 86.00 Admirations Heaven Is In Your Arms C/w My Admiration For You Two fabulous examples of Chicago vocal-group recording from the desk of the prolific M-Pac, Onederful label contributors Otis Hayes & Jimmy Jones. Topside offer up tight vocal group Northern Soul dance that became so very popular at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, triggering an horrid counterfeit press. Whilst the flipside is consider a “Sweet Soul” harmony trophy. NOTE. Do not confuse with the horrid counterfeit - this is the original first press! Chicago address, severe dip in the label plateau before the center hole, “matt” silver finish to the label, pale red text. Two fabulous examples of Chicago vocal-group Soul recording from the desk of the prolific M-Pac, One-derful label contributors Otis Hayes & Jimmy Jones. Condition is flawless Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 236.00 Albert Washington Case Of The Blues C/w One More Chance Albert Washington already a man with a number of great Northern Soul favourites to his name as his flawless vocal strength gives a tune that extra added special feel as he hits the high notes in true style on his Cincinnati counterparts. This seldom seen disc again offers up fabulous Northern Soul spiced with both R&B and Popcorn influences. So check him out yet again on this D.I.Y. ground-level recording. So at ease with the bold-brass backed production Albert gives a short rap, before the haunting horns lay the foundations for his gnarly vocal onslaught as he crafts a convincing dancer, just aching for that long overdue NS turntable exposure to lift awareness.. But do not overlook the fabulous Deep Soul ballad on the flip that really shows off the great artists vocal prowess. LOVE BOTH SIDES! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 93.00
  3. The Saints I'll Let You Slide C/w Love Can Be This 45 has been the preserve of only the very top DJs for over three decades now. First gracing one of the 80s finest Soul collections as yet another Soul Bowl discovery; But surprisingly came back onto the market when top DJ Grahame Ellis decided to call it a day and part with his incomparable accumulation of rare soul dance 45s. It was then raised up into cult-status by none other than “Butch”; since those heady days, the DJs who have supported it since, reads like a who’s who of Rare Soul Philosophers. Arthur Fenn, Dave Rippoles, Dave Welding… but to underline it’s serve-rarity, it is a disc that has also eluded the likes of such NS Royalty as Soul Sam etc. So check out what all the fuss is about this North Carolina “impossible” is all about - and immerse yourself into slick vocal-group rare-soul unusually driven by intricate guitar licks and cymbals - no smash, bang wallop arrangement, no blaring horns battling with the super-smooth vocals for supremacy, just superlative creamy vocals whipping up a silky upper-class rare soul dancer. So good is the a-side, again the flipside has been overlooked by some collectors..the flip I feel is only an hares-breadth away from being every note as good. A double-helping of “thinking man’s” Northern Soul at it’s absolute finest… with a second to none pedigree. TOTAL CLASS AIN’T IT! PS Played by the mighty Mick H. at the totally-top-class “Va Va Voom” event on Saturday to quote “A Manic packed dancefloor of 150…” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,440.00 Belaires I Got That Feelin' C/w The Rabbit The iconic Motor City’s label least known Northern Soul rarity. Ready to achieve it’s long overlooked potential that has somehow been delayed. Tony Alvon the “Sexy Coffee Pot” man comes under the watchful skills of Gino Washington for this Detroit Northern Soul stomper. Like his better distributed but highly sought after Atlantic recordings; this thumper is also powered by blaring horns and rasping vocals. This is a proper foot-to-the-floor dancer; decorated with low-down dirty sax blows, rattling drums and soaring trumpets accompany Tony Alvon’s dominant statements bolstered by the compulsory squealing girl-group back up. It is a mystery why this 45 hasn’t ever joined the “other” Palmer’s into iconic status, unquestionable pedigree but like a few others suffering a little from it’s own obscurity. Flip it over to be blown away by a typically insane “Tony Alvon” hammond manipulation colliding with a totally irresponsible saxophonist who breaks all the rules to whip up what can only be described as a “beast” of an instrumental! Two compelling sides now ready for their day in sun, potential is HUGE!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 350.00 Magnum Fully Loaded 1974 8 man California Funk gathering create an Album Grail!! Recorded in California after which Phoenix Records gained a distributed deal with Jamie Records in Philadelphia; allowing house-band Great Expectations & Magnum to release a few singles through Jamie/Guyden’s highly respected Philly / L.A. collaboration label “Phil L.A. Soul” neat play on words. But this album sold ion trifling quantities and has always been considered one of “Soul’s” hard to acquire platters. Ironic as this highly talented octet convincingly blend Soul/Jazz/Funk with real potency. Check out a sample of their work on the soundfile, and you’ll be wondering why this team never made it huge - innovative, brave and forceful music with every track impressing. Vinyl & labels are Mint - cover reveals only light signs of handling.. It’s RARE and it’s a beauty! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 87.00 Delorise Berry No Other Girl C/w Crying Won't Help Me Now Current spin for legendary DJ John Vincent - a man never afraid to drop in a taste of the unheard rarity into a set a bejeweled with NS classics set. Check this neglected beauty, it is elusive on it’s 1968 Cotillion/Atlantic release which you seldom come across. But the first press from small town Florida is today one of those highly desirable “firsts” that are becoming increasingly challenging to own. Before you is the 1967 cutely designed Gator Records from the hamlet of Palatka. You can feel the local horns rippling, as they assisted the young voice of Delorise Berry to craft a primitive but so very effective Northern Soul dancer. Saturated in magical naivety Delorise serves up a relentless and potent dancer, little wonder it’s a Mr. Vincent favourite. But wait until you hear the exceptional flipside that will irresistibly appeal to two Soul collectors styles. An uncredited male vocal group join Delorise to carefully construct a phenomenal harmony ballad, rich male vocals support a determine Sister vocal. The harmony guys will love it, but it carrying enough “pain” for the Deep Soul aficionados to salivate over. Two superior sides, quirky unforgettable label design displaying why we vinyl-junkies just love those primitive “firsts” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 136.00 Village Choir Sweet Hot Lips C/w Along The Beach Could they have chosen a better label name, as the vehicle for these two sensational sides - both of which are soaked with the what the streets of New York have to offer. Salacious, sultry, sexy blending of Latin, Soul & Jazz carried by wave after wave of horns, classy guitar picking and a pleading lead vocal reaching out to those pacifying girls in the background…just so decidedly absorbing.. a dancefloor swayer of serious class. Flip it over for an equally enthralling 3.00 minutes as the “Choir” again deliver a breezy blend of New York’s major dance influences.. This time the lead vocals are shared, when the male lead is joined by a provocative lady with the voice of an Angel; and whilst all this activity is filling the studio the session is thickened even further with a unobtrusive full harmony backing. This gathering can do no wrong - love all their work, and some of it like this example are “Dog-Rare” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 607.00 Ray Scott & The Scottsmen Right Now C/w Feeling No Pain Strap yourself in! Ray Scott and his boys are gonna blast you out of your seat; with an unforgiving 2.40 minutes foot-top-the-floor high octane Northern Soul rasper. Directed by one of Northern Soul’s most prolific contributors Bert “Super Hits” DeCoteaux who whips up a storm of horns from the first note - then Ray steps forward to serve us with total NS dance; with his snarling, growling, spitting style of uncompromising force. As if not to be outdone the horns gather power and dictate the pace, but Ray blows them all away - boy this guy can bellow with the best of them. Totally overwhelming dancer with few equals when it comes to enthusiasm, presence and delivery! So dripping with the Wow-Factor it is easy to forget the flipside is darn good also… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 181.00 Invitations Watch Out Little Girl C/w You're Like A Mystery Current dancefloor destroyer! and a regret for me as recently it was pulled from my grasp and DJ set by an offer I couldn’t refuse… well it had detonated a dance hall crush, so my fellow jock for the night just had to have it. Those guaranteed crowd-igniters are vital DJ Box residents, and I miss that luxury of being able to “up” the atmosphere when ever required. But I’m a perfectionist, and this Mint - PROMO copy has a light storage lift not affecting play in any way. So I’ve decided to rely on other crowd-pleasers to rescue a dwindling floor-audience. A minor flaw - very minor as the labels and the vinyls are immaculate. Ideal for the DJ who appreciates the value of a banker.. bristling with quality, desirability and brutal charm! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 425.00 Tommy Ridgley My Love Gets Stronger Everybody’s favourite and a Stone-Cold classic! From the vinyl wastelands of New Orleans comes a mid-tempo Soul experience dripping with slick delivery and sumptuous cooing girls. The ripened vocal of Crescent City veteran fits snugly into Bob Robins dreamy Northern Soul stroller that swells into an infectious lust; as those purring girls elevate that matured “Ridgley” delivery. Crafting everlasting Northern Soul that is now, and always will be considered an ultimate NS Trophy to own. Full marks to equally experienced John Vincent long-standing NS Jock for first playing this 45 against the tide of hard-hitting stompers - mid-tempo brilliance that 30 years on is no easy to apprehend now than it was then.. Do not pass by.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,039.00 Tobi Lark Sweep It Out In The Shed C/w Challenge My Love Dodge the dancefloor-dash as this Detroiter detonates! which ever side you drop the needle on! The double act of Dave Hamilton & Rony Darrell once again deliver the goods hard and heavy with a hunk of R&B flavoured Northern Soul with the power to move the punters up and at the dancefloor It’s a conversation stopper - ” hold on a ‘mo I’ve just gotta dance to this tune! ” as you get there as quickly as possible to find enough floor-space to do this beast-of-a-tune justice. Flip is over to be treated to a more conventional Detroit groove that glistens with the class that Dave Hamilton consistently crafts. Two killer tunes - with “Shed” totally powering head n’ shoulders above the norm, you expect from a Detroit production ! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 565.00 Cynthia & The Imaginations Hey Boy (i Love You) C/w Love Is Real Some of us never learn… do we? A close friend of mine fell madly in love with a telesales girl’s voice, when he eventually went on a date with her, shockingly to find she only just fitted into the front seat of his Mini and had an epic Tug O’ War tussle to get her out again.. Well as you’d expect, Ive learned nothing from my friends experience because I’m head over heels for this lady’s voice, Cynthia you’ve made my toes curl up!! So delightfully delicious Detroit, I’m swooning in anticipation as to what the flip may bring.. as I wait for Dale Warren & Ernest Burt’s innovative echo-chamber intro; the Siren that is Cynthia, does not fail us..and clarity returns as her Angelic vocal cuts the air again. Innovative it may be - but the side that grabs you “deep” is the searing “Hey Boy” I have no hesitation in proclaiming it as one of the finest Detroit Sister tunes ever recorded…but I would say that wouldn’t I … I’m In Love…with that voice Sorry, this item has already been won! Like all Tee Fletcher’s soul offerings, this too is a thoroughly exhilarating Northern Soul dance experience. Soak up the atmosphere as the lead vocal joyrides on a raft of horns, and his teammates support the session with rich harmony choruses. THIS IS JUST PERFECT NORTHERN SOUL!! Ironically so many “perfect” NS tunes are stubbornly RARE this one being insanely difficult to secure, currently only residing in the World’s top rare soul collections and a few Top DJ boxes. So instantly impressive is this rarity, I had completely forgotten this disc actually hides another killer on the flipside. Down a tad in pace but still decorated in all the same irresistible qualities that brew truly stand-out NS tunes, again a lush vocal-group experience. Two fabulous sides that have been, for most just a far away dream for ownership. Condition is utterly FLAWLESS! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,484.00 James Bounty Prove Yourself A Lady Every week we try and keep those of you lusting after the real-deal Northern Soul classics in the finest possible condition, satisfied. To find this almost virgin copy in 2014 is very pleasing indeed. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 411.00 Daylighters Oh Mom (teach Me How To Uncle Willie) C/w Hard-headed Girl The mind boggles how Cris Blackwell & Guy Stevens actually acquired their incredibly diverse catalog of releases, as communication with Chicago in 1964 and small labels like “Tip Top” would have not have been as straight forward as one would first think. But they did acquire this obscure sound that was just perfect to feed the mid-60s All Night Club Scene, the MODS and their passion for “Go-Go” styled dancing. But remains today another in a long line of SURE non-sellers and today more often than not an annoying gap in UK collectors label run. Both sides written by Chicago stalwart Charles Colbert Jr., and produced by an equally familiar “name” Burgess Gardner. Taken from the heart of the Chicago’s southside, into the heart of England by two innovative and dedicated R&B fans trying to change the face of the UK music scene. Their legacy lives on in the form of essential listing like this.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 87.00 Roy Hamilton The Dark End Of The Street C/w One Hundred Years An head-turner! We have talked about the fastidious dedication of Dave Godin many times within these over the years. So lets talk about it again! A man who went the extra mile to craft lasting label and sleeve art for all his releases. A man who chose every title, A side and B with great care, usually driven by his own personal taste which as we all know was impeccable. That vision of temptation staring back at you today, is only a small part of the legacy this British Soul pioneer left the serious record collector. Two hand picked sides and 60s pop-art at it’s most inspiring. On this release Dave gives the UK Soul fan a taste of one of the last century’s greatest vocals, guided in Memphis by two of Chelsea Avenue’s most prolific studio creators. Top sides is a killer version of the timeless Deep Soul James Carr anthem, the flipside showcasing a gargantuan vocal just strolling at ease with a simplistic but highly effective arrangement. In true Roy Hamilton style he gently builds layer upon layer until by the end you have fallen for his consummate ultra-silky velvet tonsils. This 45 is the coming together of many people at the top of their game, Dave Godin of course being one of them. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 56.00 Marvelettes Please Mr. Postman C/w So Long Baby Condition, Condition, Condition! You serial British Motown upgraders you won’t be chasing another copy of this so near perfect 1961 UK release. The record that cemented Brian Holland’s indispensable talents to Motown but allowed his long-term partner Robert Bateman to take up work with various different labels; a huge seller in the USA but not England as it was before “Motown” was a recognized record label in the UK. In fact Fontana ignore all links with no reference to Motown or Jobette Music anywhere on the label. With hardly any sign of handling or play of this 53 year old artifact, we’d advice the TMG OCD committed to perfection; you’ll be very, very hard pushed to find a finer one. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 130.00 Big Frank And The Essences I Won't Let Her See Me Cry C/w The Secret Bobby Scott matches Big Frank Murphy’s cavernous vocal with bellowing horns and copious male vocal back up from “The Essence”. Resulting in one of Northern Soul most impressive examples of “the Big City” sound. From the first note it screams power, as the Tuba sets the tone, cleverly wedded to tinkling piano keys, The Essence chant “No, No, See Won’t See Me Cry” then Mr. Murphy himself throws his rich deep vocal into the mix, to make a NS marriage made in heaven. So strong, so well endow this is Northern Soul you just cannot ignore.. Flip it over and Frank & the Boys go all 1964 Motownesqwue… with finger-clicking “Wonderful One” style Northern Soul. So much more than just a “pretty Face” this eye-catching head turner, lives up to it’s gorgeous scan.. .. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 342.00 Salvadors Stick By Me Baby THE SALVADORS Heavy vinyl, rich green label FIRST PRESS. Do not confuse with the paler green label, thinner vinyl press from the exact same masterplate with the telltale TWO pimple visually flawed a-side playing surface LATER PRESS. Simple forensics dictate that the perfect press came first. The mystery lies in the fact, we do not know the length of time between this press and the later press. A day? A Month? A Year? more….? You are now viewing the very pinnacle of Northern Soul collecting.. Universally considered the greatest piece of pure vocal-group Northern Soul ever crafted. You’re on your feet at the very first note, adrenaline-stoked before the first blast of brass, heart pounding as you join the floor to the building, brooding, intense pleading vocal standing above the surging production. TRULY THE ULTIMATE NORTHERN SOUL RECORDING Unicorn-Rare, that until recent times the “Heavy Duty” original was totally undocumented on the Northern Soul Collecting scene; this is only the second time in my life I have encountered it, the other copy being far from Mint -. NORTHERN SOUL COLLECTING DOES NOT GET MORE EXCITING THAN THIS. Other than a light label blemish top left side A-side under “Wise” this copy is perfect! Vinyl is FLAWLESS and of course this treasure has never visited the British Isles until now, absolutely no DJ turntable outings. The winning bid was £ 4,800.00 Sir Joe Quarterman & Free Soul Sir Joe & Free Soul Considered one of tghe greatest FUNK album ever made, the sample soundfile will only go a tiny way of exposing what lies in the grooves of this monster ahead-of-it’s-time session that achieved sadly hardly any sales. This is the excruciatingly Original 1973 Gatefold sleeve presented Album in super-flawless condition. Check out the soundfile sample although determined FUNK springs from every track we have omitted his “greats” “So Much Trouble In My Mind” etc as you know them well. But to underline the albums rich-vein of FUNK the lesser know tracks are every note as good. RARE FUNK ALBUMS i can’t think of a more convincing one.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 86.00 Deloris Ealy & The Kenyattas Kenyatta's In Your Town C/w How I Wish You Were Mine The admired California Funk Diva at her most overpowering!! Movement inducing horns prompt Miss Ealy’s snarling vocal into a defiant tone, her mood becoming increasingly aggressive as the record develops; Her huge presence hooks into the rhythm, as she struts her way through with attitude and determination. Diva FUNK does not get any more potent than this flipside offering. As her and her girl-group backing ladies rip into the lyrics delivering total dancefloor essentials by the lorry load. This is Street Level FUNK at it’s most-convincing! The other side the company lead with, will please those of you who appreciate Soul-Crossover dance.. as the laid back mid-tempo again showcases Deloris’s impressive control backed this time with a more controlled Soulful horn arrangement. Two great sides - one elusive disc! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 261.00 The Old Mpressions Right On C/w Let Me Know Even though “let Me Know” is a true masterpiece of 70s Sweet Soul harmony, we’ll lead with the highly sought after dance side, then let your jaw drop and your heart fly when you hear the flipside, a most-soulfully moving song would be hard to find. The cultured vocal of original Impressions member Richard Brooks booms into the funky guitar rhythm and all his 20 years of previous soul crooning decorates this slick dance tune. Rich trembling vocal, with that light throaty growl on the higher notes, just screams experience! as the other band members purr away in the backing chorus. Quality dance groove, total quality… Flip it over and the group raise the bar of Soul music, serving us with an utterly sublime ballad; pulsating with pain, as the tormented lead vocal implores his lady to be straight with him. As he doesn’t want to be “…Blind, walking around in some other guys shoes” Beseeching Soul at it’s most poignant - wonderful to the point of painting a vivid picture of a grown man, hands held open..pleading…clinging to a thread of hope, that his lady wants to stay and dispels his unbearable hurt. Two totally Top-Drawer tunes, on a seldom seen rarity of pure quality. It’s a must own… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 252.00 Cody Black I Am Particular C/w I Will Give You Love Serious about Detroit Soul?..then you most probably don’t own this extremely difficult to find 45 from one of Northern Soul’s most-beloved of artists. The rarely if ever heard, unless you frequent the legendary “DIG DEEPER” in Brooklyn, New York where Top World Jocks DJ Honky & Michael Robinson flaunt their extreme rarities to a most appreciative crowd one a month. Topside is a typical Mike Hanks session; a frantic drum-propelled Motor City stomper, ideal for the sets of the aforementioned ,with those extra-psyched-up girls yelping a shrill chorus backing, as Cody uses all his vocal-prowess to keep pace. Flip it over for a lush mostly “unknown” Northern Soul stepper, again incorporating those impressive Sisters adorning Mr. Black’s easy going crooning. Subtle trumpets build up the session for the ladies to interrupt at all the right times…Magical Michigan! Only Detroit provides the collector with this style of chopping dance-beat, shrill girls for the skilled vocal to walk through. Blindfolded you would know it’s the Motor City, it is just saturated in all that the era cultivated.. Sadly now a lost-art, never to return - seek ownership of all this style as soon as you can…on real-rarities like this example, the price is only going one way.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 176.00 Phil Terrell Love Has Passed Me By C/w It is no accident that this label consistently crafted the finest 60s and 70’s soul the East Coast could provide. The driving force behind Carnival Records had already served his time playing saxophone with some the most respected Jazz bands, later backing up on stage some of the USA’s biggest artists and even having a spell with Motown as a Choker Campbell band member. All that previous experience stood Joe in a good place to move Carnival up into becoming the premier Soul label of the metropolitan area. Boasting such groups as the Manhattans, Topics etc. The Carnival family blossomed, here is one of The Manhattans close buddies with the 2nd of two 45s he released. Rippling with the Joe Evans trademark feelgood dance factor, enriched by a purring uncredited vocal group harmony back-up (Manhattans?) this is pure Northern Soul at it’s slickest. But I also adore the overlooked flipside that seems to incorporate the whole Carnival household. A dreamy mid-tempo groove with Phil’s aching vocal cradled by the same responsive male vocal group and Carnival girls (The Lovettes) building layer after layer of divine Soulfulness. A standout stroller augmented by Joe’s ingenious use of strings & trombone..BRILLIANT Two stunning sides from a label where we’ve come expect everything to be exceptional… this is, twice over! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 148.00 Steve Jordan & The Jordan Brothers Ain't No Big Thing C/w If You Love Me Like You Say The day Gerald Sims wrote this song for the Radiants little did he know he would open the way for quite a few fine cover versions; as the ultimate male dismissal of female rejections - as the song glibly shrugs of the “Cold Shoulder” proclaiming “Ain’t No Big Thing!” Timeless classic that stands today as one of the greats - so before you stands the rarest and finest alternative rendition of the great tune. Smooth Texas harmonies are beautifully shattered by an intrusively potent saxophone, that timely gatecrashes the session to perfection. Lead Jordan Brother “Steve” carries the lyrics with his gravel-coated throat from on height to another whilst his brothers smooth over the harsh delivery with sleek chorus replies. Superb vocal group Northern Soul… Flip it over and tricky guitar licks embroider the strong bass line, producing a fine mid-tempo dance rhythm again enhance by Steve Jordan controlled soulful screams.. Two great sides over opposites to the 60s Soul dance scene, a rare 45 giving the owner the pleasure of “two” for the price of one… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 89.00 Maurice Mccormick 15 Minutes C/w Reeall Deeal Highly sought after San Francisco indie 12” in PERFECT condition. Rico Tee’s 80s label “Solid Smoke” was dedicated to his first love Soul Music; but also turned a few surprise releases this one being one of them; With both sides pumping out 80s searing dance music delivered by a booming throaty vocal. This is “Boogie” at it’s most imperative. Flip it over it’s veers away from Boogie headlong into Soul; blaring horns add depth and style, with the fearless vocal again belting it out. An insane sax-break seals the “Reeall Deeall” Two potent dancers, in astonishing “as new” ciondition. Until we lifted the impressive sound sample this disc was virgin-unplayed. Both labels are “as new” also. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 75.00
  8. thanks for replies, arthur prysock is the best version by far to my ears, guess it will be out on a boot near by soon, joe.
  9. thanks for that, usually the way of it, hear a decent tune and it's either unissed or too expensive or both.

  11. Jackey Beavers Show We're Not Too Young To Fall In Love Just dropped this killer back into my DJ box after playing this and realizing people just ain’t had enough of this screaming delight! Like an old friend who doesn’t owe you money, I’m welcoming this spectacular 45 back into my life with open arms. The desperately beseeching vocal shares the pain as this despair drenched session is turned into an exacting Northern Soul dancer by a torrent of stabbing horns. As a dance tune, this is just fabulous.. as a Soul tune it is utterly captivating.. The time is right for a Jackey Beavers renaissance.. just too darn good not to… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00 The Jaedes The Jaedes Wow not only another seriously elusive LP you could not pick fault with. But one so full of Northern Soul dance tracks that didn’t reach 45 we have soundfiled fully 7 of the 11 tracks it offers. 1.Big surprise 2.Color him father 3.Uh, uh, what did I do 4.What’ll it take to make you happy 5.Teach me (a lesson in love) 6.We’re gonna build a love together 7.I’ll be back on my feet again Prepare to be impressed and also prepare for a little competition, this album does not come to market in this near perfect condition and at this moment in time the majority of soul collectors have not heard the sheer quality it gives up. Click the soundfile for 6 dance tracks, 1 killer sweet soul and the other 4 tracks will remain a surprise for the next lucky owner because we think they are ever note as good.. Again a crucial DJ tool that is just as essential for home listening.. A stand-out platter in magnificent condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 155.00 Roosevelt And The Seven C's Black Cat C/w We Were Always Sweethearts Very rare version of Brian Auger’s classic hammond trip; backed up with a lush Northern Soul crossover stroller. Two contrasting but fabulous sides. “Black Cat” leads with a audacious Hammond scything through to collide with searing trumpets blasts, the perfect intro for the gnarled lead vocal to pick up the baton and run with the compelling Funky dance rhythm, hurtling towards an unparalleled trumpet solo bringing in a Wah-Wah guitar assistance as the production adds layer after layer of pure attitude.. Killer version of an already fabulous tune.. Flipping it over the horns become attractively lazy and the hammond’s easy flow glides the song along, the lead vocal mellows but that trumpet again paints a picture for those who appreciate classy street-level craftsmanship.. Rarely seen for sale and again offering “Two For The Price Of One” value.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 108.00 Deletts What's The Use C/w Look At Me The long overdue reemergence of this spectacularly-sexy double-helping of Sister-Northern has started to happen! Legendary Wigan Casino & Samantha’s resident John Vincent knows a sleeping Goliath when he hears one; as does highly regarded DJ Ian Gellatly who are both currently featuring this 45 in their sets. The only problem for them being, which side to drop the arm on. I change my mind every time I play it…which side do you prefer?… difficult choice. The side Blue Rock led with is an atmospheric mid-pace delight shimmering with class and purpose..just adore it, the pace being dead-right for todays discerning dancer. Flip it over for a turbo-charged real-deal classic style stomper, relentless and destructive; an acrobat-inducing proper Northern Soul floor-destroyer. For the discerning NS collector, it will not only be the two-for-one enticement that draws you to this rarity, it will also be the flawless condition. Another escapee from that lifelong file only collection we keep raiding.. You will not find a finer copy - or indeed to finer Girl-Sound Northern dancers back to back. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 381.00 Ray Pollard Wanderlust C/w This Is No Laughing Matter Absolutely his most elusive 45 Raising the question, why this New Yorker has never lifted itself up along side his iconic United Artist 45’s is a mystery, other than it being a damn challenging disc to find. Take a listen to this Jimmy Radcliffe & Buddy Scott composition formulated by Bert “Super-hits” DeCoteaux, quite a combination of N.Y’s finest merging. Click the soundfile and become aware of a potential Giant could begin to stir. The seasoned vocal wades into the horn intro, our favourite man is in conquering form; Whether he’s booming low, purring or growling to destroy the high notes this man has the consummate Soul voice… but the highlight has got to be Bert’s insertion of a team of squawking Sisters resounding around the session. Them gals are so Northern, so very potent it elevates this great song yet another notch. Brilliant!! a word we don’t use very often - but it truly is - so let’s get back to the first question I asked..because I know at this moment you’re asking it too. PS the flipside showcases Ray’s superior vocal perfectly… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 133.00 Ikettes What'cha Gonna Do C/w Down, Down As you’d expect from the pen of Ike Turner, relentless, uncompromising PMT driven mid-60s dance Soul bristling with girl-power defiance. You cannot do a Twisted Wheel set justice without including this explosive session. That is why in recent time the USA Phi-Dan release has doubled in value… time will tell the demand for this example, the far, far rarer 1966 UK press. A totally immaculate 1966 in near it’s original state; nearing a 1/2 century old and this copy’s only flaw are an occasional light minuscule paper sleeve contact blemish…a strong clear Mint - You just don’t encounter high high conditions standards too often these days.. Just so decidedly different, you just got play it again. Steadily uplifting you the more you hear, in the day when the Girl-Sound was “Queen” this could have been a monster tune. I have been informed this did get a Casino outing or two (unconfirmed as yet) but insane rarity stopped is progress. It happened to far too many plays but today I’m loving it. The winning bid was £ 82.00 Billboard 1968 Soul Special A window into USA Soul music industry of 1968. Rammed, packed full with colourful company adverts. Bio’s, Label stories. Label addresses, telephone numbers, contact names. Oh my word what could a young pioneering Brit done with that info at his fingertips in the late 60s. There are fully 68 essential browsing and reading material to adsorb, we’ve only got space for 3 inside covers, we’ve chosen a snippet of some of the eye-catching independent record company ads. A recording can take you back to recall any period of your life, but I found browsing though this magazine, an aching-need to go back in time and start searching for records all over again. Totally fascinating read - artist pictures are stunning but the record company full page adverts are my favourite - I’m thinking and need another copy of this magazine, so i can go gets these beauties framed. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 57.00 The Dogs Soul Step C/w Don't Try To Help Me Wanna be rocketed back to the halcyon days of The Pier or The Casino when the instrumental was King! When records of this calibre you would have been willing to pay a month’s wages to own. When DJ’s had a swagger on stage, knowing hardly anyone else on the rostrum would be able to eclipse you…rare then, even rarer now! I know I “Treasured” my copy once secured, cause we knew it was a floorpacker.. This tune has always been out-of-reach not only for the reason of whoever owns a copy is mighty reluctant to part but also partly for the fact that the vocal side is highly sought 60s garage/punk that today fits well with the MODS as well as the USA devotees to the Garage sound. Again two stand out sides on one disc - seldom if ever comes to market…so click the soundfile and catapult ya’self back the ‘76 and those two steaming temples of Northern Soul.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 739.00 Ice Productions I Do I Do(wanna Love You) C/w Holiday Of You How did this vocal group dance groove slip pasted us all in the 70s? D.I.Y. Oakland, California tight mover that Bob Cattaneo never picked up on (Bob was the master at the finding and promoting the Bay Area Soul new release to the Brits.) But also a Sweet Soul aficionado with few equals at the time. 1976 Oakland rare-soul dancer that briefly turned up very sparse numbers about 5 years ago. To be gobbled up by a fewforward thinking collectors/DJs. Today it has disappeared back into the totally obscurity it originally emerged from. The dance sides is a rippling fusion of synth, rhythmic drum beats and soaring harmony vocals that call and answer throughout the whole session. Vocals bounce off each other as some slick verbal-volleyball glides on a raft of a convincing mid-tempo stepper-style arrangement - those vocals knit so completely tight, leaving you thinking - these guys are good.. but wait till the Sweet Soul flipside hits ya! Turn it over - and slip in an abyss of silky vocals, which you could be easily forgiven for assuming you’re listening to the Delfonics, The Manhattans, Dranmatics, Originals etc. or any top-drawer male gathering.. this really is one delicately-delicious example of sweet soul. The lead vocals seamlessly inter-change in tone & depth, a particularly sharp falsetto cuts like a knife. THe oohing and cooing is silky smooth drifting on a air of ease and self-assurance, then the so flirtatiious “get naked” rapping calmly stolls in.. total KILLER! Two fabulous tunes “lost” “found” and then “lost” again.. with potential just dripping from whatever side you drop into.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 123.00 J. R. Bailey Just Me N' You James Ralph Bailey this album is a Soul Masterpiece and a lasting testament to your inspirational writing, producing & singing gifts. Soul collectors before you today is one of those rare occasions whilst reviewing an album we can honestly state every track is not only a standout song but they knit together into a 41 minute legacy of genius. Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” album is one and the other that jumps to mind is Timothy Wilson - H&L album, as being the complete Soul experience. Having said that, as you will hear from the sound clips J.R. was certainly heavily influenced by Marvin’s “Piece De Resistance”, but JR’s extreme talent stamps his own identity into every recording. After listening for 40+ minutes you will find it impossible not to play it again..without question one of the greatest Soul Lp’s of the last century.. Vinyl is neat clean a couple of very light insignificant sleeve contact blemishes. Plays perfect. Both labels are MINT -. Retains original “London Dist.” inner sleeve - cover has seen a better day..spines have light wear, corner has a minor “bump” see scan, top and bottom seams have been professionally repaired and strengthen from the inside, great job and you can’t tell. Click the soundfile and if you don’t already own this very RARE album we can tell you in goes nowhere near to reflecting, what the album in it’s entirety does for your Soul and your desire for some in-house dancing! Scintillating truly scintillating…and so sad that Soul music “lost” this great man, before he was 50 years of age..JR your music lives on! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 118.00 Eddie Bishop Call Me I’m sure I’m swiftly becoming vinyl OCD - compulsive about condition, as the sight of unplayed vinyl nearly as old as me..totally thrills. Another disc from a recent netting of unplayed 60s discs, this too was “virgin” before we lifted the soundfile. Eddie transforms Tony Hatch’s British born composition with intricate pumping of the saxophone woven into a jazzy dance rhythm. Little wonder this 45 has stood the test of time as a Northern Soul instrumental dancefloor filling choice for the DJ. It’s that instrument isn’t..the Sax you can never tire of hearing - delivered with style & punch it’s a sound you never grow weary of dancing to. Condition…the pure delight of removing a disc from its jacket and perfect vinyl staring back at me…adrenaline rush ..every time! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 262.00 Appointments I Saw You There C/w Keep Away Spinning this tune has quite taken my breath away..as goose-pimples and raised hairs take over my being.. In short - one of THE most-wanted Northern Soul records on Planet Earth. Exasperatingly RARE! perched at the top of top DJ’s wish-lists for literally decades and decades. So listen why this Gene Redd creation is held is such mythical regard, dare we say, true Holy Grail status. We think so, and not only because this is absolutely the style that gets you hooked into pursuing the impossibles. ..the flipside although completely overshadowed by “I Saw You There” is also an highly-prized Northern Soul, but paling in significance as most all other NS 45’s do, when compared to this monumental masterpiece of vocal-group dance Soul. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 4,020.00 David & Ruben (i Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me RARE STOCK copy, so rarely seen for sale. Eddie Davis reworks The Majestics - Linda recording to great effect, lush strings, hand-claps, finger-popping & some intricate violin plucking…not forgetting those soaring horns blaring down as if from on high. Fabulous production and different enough to the one 4 years earlier that is considered a Northern Soul classic.. This listing s for those of you who seek out the rare stock copies in beautiful clean condition! Looks fab doesn’t it… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 196.00

  13. Jeanie Tracy Making New Friends C/w Tripping On The Sounds Oh yes top drawer Oakland, California jazzy dance soul. The last time we listed this highly hunted Holy-Platter a bidding Dog-fight ensued of the likes we’ve not experienced to often.. as real dust raiser. But who could blame the enthusiasm, this 45 is after all, a long-standing out-of-reach Rare-Soul trophy with a very impressive scarcity provenance. When would another come to market? Marvin Holmes’s all too short lived Bay Area label consistently distributed exquisite recordings, with this example being the best his Oakland based machine made. Horns lead the way for Jeanie’s jerky jazzed up vocal to glide through an uplifting arrangement. Shrill girls join the party as the lead vocal hits several intense peaks with consummate ease.. SEXY very SEXY soulful dance with a huge reputation.. But do not overlook the pumping slab of Sister-Funk that lay hidden on the flipside - it is already emerging as a candidate to rise high on the play lists of the New-Breed NS funk Jocks… you cannot ignore those horns… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,473.00 Inspirations Your Wish Is My Command C/w I'll Take A Chance On You RARE Northern Soul classic and just darn awesome! Top side booms out the very best Chicago vocal-group Northern Soul you could ever dream of hearing, whilst the flipside is considered a Soul-harmony Grail. The most important aspect of this listing however, is two perfect labels and vinyl to match. So stunningly clean, we doubt if we’ll ever surpass this offering on all round condition. So click the sound file, we’ll let “The Inspirations” do the rest of the talking… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,073.00 Pulse Pulse Wanna hear some killer horns to make ya’dance? Check out this, so tough to find late 70s New York indie, offering 8 tracks of Soul-Dance & Boogie. Most of which never enjoyed 45 or 12” release. We’ve pulled 3 tracks from side one all shimmering dancers with “Sunshine” the standout track & “It’s A New Day” showcasing closely knitted harmonies surfing strong upbeat dance rhythms. With first track on the album “Middleman” blasts off the album with rampaging horns, violent drums race along with a booming vocal pulling it all together. Flip it over all tracks are upbeat, frantic total high-octane dance music we chose “Down Right Nasty” for the file but it could have been any of them. Fully 4 belting dancers on the flip alone. One of he great 70s dance albums ever made, benefiting from skilled horn playing and Rodney Brown’s guitar rhythms.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 284.00 Little Jerry Williams Just What Do You Plan To Do About It C/w Baby You're My Everything This week two British offerings come from one of Britain’s most desired labels. Jerry Williams one of Northern Soul’s eternal heroes for his “If You Ask Me (Because I Love You) and for his mistake twang in highly pitched emotional voice. Expressive delivery is Jerry’s trademark, invariably accompanied by full orchestra backing using all manner of instruments to fill the atmosphere. We’ve started with catchy dance side, stabbing horns prompt proceedings as Jerry is off and running flexing those wondrous tonsils whilst unobtrusive girls purr in the background, just great but neglected Northern Soul. The Beat Ballad side Jerry starts his journey of moving tributes to his wife Yvonne; with “Baby You’re My Everything” laying the foundations for his greatest moment that was just two more releases away. Next he did the staggering “Baby Bunny (Sugar Honey)” each time building another layer to his huge productions until he gave birth to “If You Ask Me” A massive talent, totally at home with the rich big production.. Ooh the music was so good, I almost forgot to mention this listing is a gorgeous, irresistible 1965 British WHITE DEMO! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 110.00 Jackie Forrest Show Me How To Love How many oldies Dj’s can boast of having and original press of this in their box. The winning bid was £ 299.00 Spencer Wiggins What Do You Think About My Baby C/w Love's Crime One for the serious seeker of rare 45s by Soul Music’s most revered artists. Spencer Wiggins one of Memphis’s greatest sons with his first solo 45. Totally Dog-Rare and it offers potent horn driven Northern Soul one side and bluesy Deep Soul on the other, Immortalized on his vast CD compilations courtesy of Ace/Kent determination to bring his talents to the wider audience …but very few own his the complete vinyl works. For his debut solo 45 on this highly regarded seldom-seen off shot of the Goldwax label. Mr. Wiggins teams up with Isaac Hayes & Gene Bowlegs Miller and delivers a powerful statement of intent. Relentless Northern Soul that has yet to grace NS turntables with any consistency and utterly perfect for the “Big Hall” R&B orientated dance events. Having said that, this 45 perhaps more importantly marks the birth of a great solo artist after honing his rasping vocal in his formative years with several Memhis based Gospel Groups. Rare and essential if you’re serious about owning and completing “The Greats” or you just wanna rip a dancefloor up..? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 108.00 Ray Pollard The Drifter C/w Let Him Go (and Let Me Love You) THE voice of 60s New York guided by the highly industrious pairing of Gerry Granahan & Arnold Goland, a duo who were behind so many great East Coast 60s recordings. To have a vocalist of Ray Pollard’s stature standing before them in the studio, must have been a thrill. THen give the team the fabulously stirring lyrics of Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein & Richard Gottehrer you know something special is about to be born. It is no accident the greatest songs and performances are crafted, it takes a fusion of stand-out talent to achieve it. This offering is of course one of the most-immense Beat-Ballads ever crafted, it sits deep in the heart of all Northern Soul fans..it is after all peerless Soul. Click the soundfile and let the “team” and Ray’s prodigious voice do all the talkin’… ownership is imperative..isn’t it Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 461.00 Tamla Motown Revue The Tamla Motown Show To celebrate EMI’s 1965 launch of the UK Tamla Motown with TMG501 all the way from HITVILLE U.S.A. came the Motor Town Revue. (see scan) This historical 8 program carries adverts for the record releases Album & Ep’s Bio’s and great artist pics on The Supremes, Martha & The Vandellas, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Stevie Wonder & Earl Van Dyke. plus EMI take the opportunity to promote their own R&B man George Fame and his Blue Flames who come into the tour after Martha Reeves leaves the stage. We have only once before auction this program, and that copy was nothing like the pristine condition this example is. Near 50s year old and looks cleaner than most copies would have looked the day after the concert. If you love te history of the Soul scene this program is crucial .. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 78.00 Turner Bros Running In The Rain C/w Let's Go Fishing Oh so right for today… …as Northern Soul embraces retro Funk. Sparking euphoric recall of high-stacked hair perms, blazing flares, floppy hats, platform shoes this overlooked Indianapolis flipside has snoozed of the reverse of a “Soul Essence” classic for too long. Wake up to a perfect example of evocative street-Funk! Jetting us back to “Black Belt Jones” “Police Story” “Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song” “Starsky and Hutch” …this is no “Silver Lady”.. this in in-your-ear Dance-Funk with stabbing horns, classy jazzy keyboard weaving, then a glorious wave of trumpets lifts this instrumental onto a different level; an innovative slow-drag mini-interval, then with perfect timing it detonates back into character..damn good FUNK This is gonna stir a few DJ’s and impress all dancers smitten by the 70s retro awareness it ignites. Flip it back, for a deliciously rolled out soulful mid-tempo that has sat high in minds of the appreciative attenders of those windswept weekends in April. Where a gentle dancefloor rare-soul sway is the order of the day, as it “mellows” down at certain times.. only to be shook back into life by a Gavin Page “bomb” Two great sides, one we feel with huge potential to impress and again elevate this rare 45 into “most-wanted” status. Street FUNK at it’s most impressive - plus a Soulful Stepper at it’s most refreshing.. what’s not to crave? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 177.00 Johnny Monday Don't Put The Hurt On Me The former 80’s cover-up Jack Montgomery “Silly Rumours”* that has in the hearts of the dedicated crowd that kept teh Northern Soul scene running through that sparse attendance decade - when marriage, children and jail got in the way of the most important thing in life.. NS music! There is no mention of who the male-vocal group backing on the fabulous example Texas Northern Soul but they elevate this Tex-Mex brass bolstered mid-tempo into the top-drawer as the blend of “Johnny’s” expressive vocal, those Mariachi-influenced trumpets and the rich male group harmony chorus, knit together into one velvety dance groove. This 45 on it’s inception to Northern Soul turntable could easily without a raised eyebrow been covered up as The Volumes, Monorays, Servicemen or what vocal-group jumped to mind.. Single artist credit, but essentially a truly fine vocal group offering.. that only occasionally comes to market. Tony Smith Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 210.00 Delrays Incorporated Destination Unknown Distinctive intros.. This Cleethorpes Pier/Winter Gardens anthem has one of those unique beginnings that had the crowd springing to their feet on the first note. From the era of the mid 70s when the Northern Soul DJ sets were expanding into a funkier atmosphere. Funny that, as once again the enterprising Northern Soul scene goes full circle bringing this style forward to a solid position of “In” sound of this time. But this 45 is so much more than just flavour-of-the-month. Collectors of the original first presses will know this is so very hard to acquire as the genuine article. True soul fans will be swooning at the superior lead vocal delivering a tortured performance after the placid cymbal stroking intro and the decidedly subtle Wah-wah licks. The dancers would soon learn that this calm before the storm would explode into a whirlpool of falsetto harmony backing, potent horns, and ear-piercing heights the lead would reach for. Then the tranquil intro returns on the last few turns of this Miami masterpiece. PERFECT! 100% original first press, other than two light marks on the Deep Soul flipside surface, this 45 is impeccable… as is Willie Clarke’s direction. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 861.00 Ty Karim & George Griffin Keep On Doin'whatcha' Doin' C/w Catch Action Rare Californian 8.00 minute 12” version from the Queen of Los Angeles Soul! Flawless 1980 press still in shrink wrapping and we believe played only once, for the making of the soundfile attached.. This highly regarded “Diva” sadly recorded so little through the 70s and 80s but lost none of her powerful presence. On this LONG VERSION version her voice lifts this dance tune every time she lets loose with her matchless voice, calming delivered, exacting and rippling with explosive power. Note: condition could hardly be finer Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 56.00 Soul City Everybody Dance Now C/w Who Knows Imagine in 1966 being in one of the 100’s of Music-curious MODS who frequented the Twisted Wheel, The Scene, The Mojo, The Beachcomber, The Night Owl etc etc. Well almost every English city had Soul allnighter by the time the glorious year of ‘66 kicked in. So imagine finding this on a market stall, shop cut out bin or more likely special ordered off a Record Mirror review or the new release sheets. SOUL CITY - EVERYBODY DANCE NOW - would just scream BUY ME as would the Cameo Parkway label. But they deleted 45s so quickly in the 60s, if you were not an out-of-the-box record collector or 45 forager this beauty would have passed you by and taunted you for the rest of the 60s as DJ’s flaunted it on those Niter turntables. But in our haste to secure and play the thumpin’ Northern Soul 45s that rattle dancefloor we overlook some real masterpieces which “WHO KNOWS” on the flip certainly is. Drenched in emotion, dripping with soul and rippling with anguish; a finer down-beat experience would be hard to match. Again the music has took my thoughts away from the fact this listing is a flawless, 1966 British rarity and a MOD / Wheel timeless classic in flawless condition through out. Check out “Who Knows” today it is my fave tune! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 247.00
  14. GOT A ( METROS # SWEETEST ONE ) AND A ( NEIL SEDAKA # TOO LATE ) worth about the same as us ones i expect
  15. Chuck Flamingo What's My Chances C/w No One To Call My Own Chuck Flamingo makes his Manship Auction Debut! Today is a treat, playing a record, that not many can boast if owning; this is after all a legendary 45 being quite easily the rarest, most sought 45 on this highly regarded New York label. For as long as I can remember the rarity pedigree has been on proven time and time again, as it is literally decades or more before i see another copy. Always making it fresh to hear and a delight to see Refresh yourself with this exhilarating Northern Soul dancer, with musclebound horn intro lifted by shrill girls answer chorus before Chuck vocal clicks into the addictive rhythm, those girl keep going then one of those value-changing saxophone breaks that lift a great tune onto a higher level. All components holler NORTHERN SOUL - rarity suggest do not pass by - when will another become accessible..,is the question. Vinyl is immaculate - please scrutinize the labels - this copy came to the UK in the mid 60s as a promo to a DJ who “scored” every record label to ensure in didn’t “slip” on radio - inane I know but I’ve had many records that have traveled this journey. It’s discreet and does not detract too much from it’s huge desirability. footnote: the Deep Soul flipside writer credit paints the most vivid picture of a perhaps Rojac Records employee - as the writer names herself as “Mistreated Eadie” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 876.00 James West Hanging Out C/w Every Knock's A Boost, Child It matters not which side you drop the arm on you are served with down and down -right dirty FUNK The side the label chose as the “A” has rap into chanting over a swirling greasy hammond rhythm, then the “murky” Saxophone joins the party, escalating the atmosphere from a stroll to hard Funk jog. Decidedly different and utterly compelling stuff. But flip it for in my opinion the best side, as arranger George Benson Jazz, Funk and Psyche into an impressively moody but totally defiant slab of New York FUNK! Impressive hammond, guitar and sax and an “out of it” vocal.. . what’s not to love? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 122.00 Carolyn Crawford I'll Come Running - Alternative Take A Unique Motown acetate capturing 15 year old Carolyn Crawford booming out a alternative take on the MOTOWN 1064 release. On this one-off this take Earl Van Dyke is in thumping form on the organ, as he supports the Ms Crawford ear-piercing vocal. Just love the way “The Earl” drops back into his Jazz roots pulling out all the stops delivery a wild backing to what is a truly exceptional young-girl vocal. The keyboard work not featured on the more-commercially constructed release, is outrageous paino and organ weld together from the off but at no stage drown the lead vocal. The Motown Sound with a sprinkling of Jazzy improvisation. Brilliant and most likely One-Of-A-Kind.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 246.00 The Icemen It's Time You Knew The genius of Eddie Singleton - his ability to craft the perfect 60s Soul dance tune, for ground-level artists & labels is quite staggering. This Hudson River crossing flows from speakers in a gush of flawlessly arranged male vocals driven but subtly pitched horns. Relentless, inspiring vocal group Northern Soul rolling at exactly to right pace inviting the lazy Northern Soul glide. A recording to immerse yourself in, soak up all the atmosphere it’s saturated in. A real jewel of a tune that has escaped all forms of vinyl bootlegging.. which in itself is proof of elusiveness. Seldom seen for sale and begging for a long overdue revisit. Having sung it’s Northern Soul qualities, the NS collector can expect competition from the Sweet Harmony collectors as the flipside alters it’s stride and falls into a lavish “Impressions” inspired mid-tempo groove. Two sides to die-for..but what else could you expect if Eddie Singleton, George Kerr, Richard Tee & Richard Poindexter collaborate, with a dash of female know-how coming from Daisy Holland. This copy is super-clean, two labels are spotless, the vinyl is a clean M-. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 363.00 Martineques If You Want To Call Me Some records drip with soulful-superiority!! A more delicious record I’ve not listed in memory - for me it has everything I adore about a rare Northern Soul Recording. This Andy Dennison cover-up as “The 3 Jades” has remained rare enough long enough to deprive us Sasanacs of this truly formidable tune It screams rarity.. as we hear it oh so little, unless we are being pleasured by the likes of Cliff Steele or Kitch behind the English turntables. Records of this stratospheric quality sadly so infrequently come to market, consequently few NS Jocks own a copy. In short - it is the most beautifully constructed soul-experience to sit on my desk in a very long time! Luxuriously silky vocals fuse then glide over a simplistic Thurman Hollis production adding layer after layer of highly honed harmony soul.. If like me vocal-group harmony Northern soul is your bag - it doesn’t ever, get any better than this. Condition is just perfect!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 715.00 R & B Scene Volume 1. No. 6 - April 1965 The R&B Scene - the incredibly hard to find “Birth Of Northern Soul” fanzine conceived by Roger Eagle in 1963. I always turn to those fabulous “Twisted Wheel” forthcoming artists ads on the back cover. Front cover underlines how dedicated Roger was, by digging deep for his articles; Chuck Berry & James Brown may seem obvious choices for the time. But how about writing bios on Lazy Lester, Homesick James, Willie Mabon & Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. But as I leafed through these archibvasl pages I was in for a very pleasant surprise indeed. THE ST. LOUIS UNION who hasd billed themselves as playing the “Northern Soul Sound” in previous R&B Scene adverts had autographed their page. All six member Tony Cassidy, Dave Tomlinson, Keith Millar, John Nichols, Dave Webb, Alex Kirby have all put their moniker on this 49 year old artifact. Signed at he Twisted Wheel - this has gotta be a Northern Soul Hall Of Fame candidate..The first British Group to quote the term “Northern Soul” all signing at The Twisted Wheel in this iconic glossy fanzine, the first mag for the term “Northern Soul Scene” to ever be in print… I’m humbled… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 39.00 California Playboys Trying To Become A Millionaire W. C. Stone’s long standing San Francisco label put together a Five Man Band using his own long term session men to create one of the world’s most-wanted Soul albums, as it includes not one but fully four killer Northern Soul dance cut that never achieved 45 release. Good friend and legend record dealer Rip Lay acquired the whole of the Loadstone and distributed vinyl in one hit, back in the late 70s. But whilst trawling though multiple boxes of the Loadstone stock, I never saw this very limited release amongst it, even though Rip’s warehouse back then was an essential annual dig… Check out the highly impressive sound file of 4 we chose. Trying To Be A Millionaire - mixing fluid vocals spiced up with a little Latin, driving subtle Funk undertones and lively crisp vocal - this is Brilliant! 2.Double Love - a spectacular reworking of the 1963 Loadstone recording by The Chandeliers, inspiring Lennell Salone guitar licks lift this dancer up and beyond. Just Say A Four Letter Word - Many consider this the best track, it is one to take a few listen then it just grows on you - indelible vocal group Northern Soul. I’ve Got To Find Myself Another Girl - we’ve recorded to show how loosely fitting Sweet Soul ballads really work as the clarity of the vocals is heighten by the lack of overpowering back tracks. Supremely naive and beautifully delivered ans the lad vocal sounds like Roshell Anderson. The other two tracks are every note as good - such a highly talented band of musicians who with the presence of Bay Area studio Prince - W.C. Stone crafted something extraordinarily special that day in 1976. Sorry, this item has already been won! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 154.00 Jackie Avery Understanding C/w I Got Love CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION Unplayed until today - we have spoken many times about “Katrina” and the devastating effect it had on New Orleans. So how pleasing is it to hold a near 50 year old Dover distributed 45 still in its original birth-state. For a change we’ll open with the highly regarded “Deep Soul” side, and leave the snapping, snarling beast of Northern Soul to the last. Funeral paced Louisianan Deep Soul supported by subtle bluesy guitar licks and some wonderfully controlled horns, that blow just loud enough to deepen the sorrow but leaving Jackie Avery’s tonsils to gargle away his despair, capturing every expression of pain in his voice, a perfect example of the genre. Flip it over, Jackie will lift you onto your feet as gentle rattle of the drum rim is a prelude for some serious blasting-horns clearing a path for Jackie to strut his vocal range. His dominant, authoritative delivery of the lyrics is met note for by hard, hard blowing and squealing ladies. As punchy as it get.. too great Soul sides and condition is unbelievable. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 131.00 Pookie Hudson This Gets To Me This Weeks near perfect timeless Northern Soul classic comes in the form of a simultaneous Cleethorpes Pier & Wigan Casino monster. Single-handedly due to the fact John Anderson of Soul Bowl was feeding the DJ’s of both iconic clubs from his rich vein of unrivaled USA vinyl. With the power of nearly all Casino & Pier DJ’s playing it, “Pookie” was an overnight sensation. I can remember “”the Pier” floor rammed, the hall seemly bouncing to the “Bob Finiz” created vibe littered production. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL and this copy flawless. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 384.00 Barry St. John Everything I Touch Turns To Tears I was prompted to list this dazzling 1966 Red & White DEMO today after seeing some yesteryear photos on Face Book of the Northern Soul champion of the British release DJ Nev Wherry who tragically died young. Nev’s passion for the rare British 45, spilled over into his Cleethorpes Winter Garden sets where he would brandish his matchless Record Boxes rammed with UK demo’s on one side, and rare Northern Soul the other. Some records you just associate with certain DJ’s - William Bell’s - Happy - was “Bubs” tune, Barry St. John - Everything I Touch Turns To Tears - we will always associate with Nev Wherry. Two sadly deceased DJ who presence comes flooding back every time a “theme Tune” is played. British ONLY, rare and irresistible as the Red n’ White. Tiny sticker removal “spot” on right hand bottom of label. Vinyl is clean, with some minuscule light surface blemishes in strong light. As you can hear it plays perfect and as you can see it’s beauty just glows from the screen. Sorry, this item has already been won! Presented today is the insanely RARE 1968 special promo invitation record sent out by EMI as a V.I.P. invite for the after-party at EMI House of fabled 18th. November 1968 ROYAL COMMAND PERFORMANCE show. Fabled, because Diana Ross used some of her stage time to give a poignant tribute to Martin Luther King, who had been assassinated in Memphis only 7 months earlier. Bringing to the British public an unprecedented awareness on the Amercian Black Civil Rights Movement. This “Record Invite” you will notice has a special dotted line for the recipients name to be added in pencil (the lucky man was David Griffiths) Historical on so many levels - it is unclear how many were made, mailed or even survive to go home that night. But we can say it is “Rain-Bird Rare” and the very first copy we have ever auctioned - ever. not quite sure what Eric & Ernie thought about it from the wings awaiting to perform as “Top Of The Bill” @ The London Palladium… Diana Ross stole the pairs thunder, and the girls are the ones remembered from that history making night… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 164.00 Four Larks Groovin' At He Go-go C/w I Still Love You (from The Bottom Of My Heart) Back in the mid-70s when most-all of us with blinkered haste chased only what the DJ’s were currently playing; one perky Ginger-Chap from York ran against the crowd; brightening up the East Coast Niter by flashing his newly secured Canadian Alice Clark or South African Patti Austin, even a Dutch Paul Sindab. Ronnie Pedley loved his weird and wonderful Northern Soul oddities and was dedicated to them. This trend over the following decades has caught on, now having a huge appreciative culture. Collecting Rare Northern Soul vinyl has no boundaries, the weird, the rare, The previously unknown, even the thought not to exists are found and our adrenaline rush, our craving and record-lust is quenched for a fleeting moment. The winning bid was £ 221.00 Shades Of Sensation But Then You Left Me C/w Everyday Thing This weeks offering to the Sweet Soul Zealot, is a dreamy falsetto smorgasbord; a hugely appetizing feast of icy-cool vocals soaring aloft on a primitive but highly effective arrangement. The D.I.Y. underdeveloped urban-Soul has a charm all of it’s own, putting extreme rarity aside; this session ripples with after-school dreams of making it big, and these guys had everything, except exposure to do just that. Highly honed vocals knit together into one pool of ascending-cool. Then if you flip it over - what a surprise.. A honking Hammond Boo-Ga-Loo instrumental borrowing some riffs from “Chain Gang” and serving up an obvious and previously “unknown” candidate for club-spins, those DJ’s digging below the surface are looking for. Two great but contrasting sides, on one extremely rare disc… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 66.00

The winning bid was £ 133.00 Sy Hightower I Know You're Leaving Me C/w Wild Love Purr inducing California Soulful 70s supremacy. Saturated in desperation and pain, Sy’s vocal cracks under his unavoidable anguish, his voice quavers as flutes try and soften the tone. This man drips with major hurt, that inspires him into delivering one of the most exquisite mid-pace Soul strollers you could ever wish hear. This has of course has been a Soul Essence anthem for decades; treasured by all those lucky enough to boast ownership. Today for me, I’m just really pleased to hear it again, close up and personal, headphones pressed hard against my head. I’m moved … Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 411.00 Temptations It''s A Lonely World Motown Northern Soul at it’s extreme best! This is a 7” Jobette acetate of a recording that was set for single release but somehow got shelved; underlining the infinite recordings Motown had at their disposal! Considered by many as the Temps best Northern Soul offering, old-school DJ’s used to hammer the hell out this, from “Gettin’ Ready” album track… Perhaps unique the full volume 7” direct cut with blaring horns, Mike Terry’s timely Baritone Sax pouts, the perfect contrast to Eddie Kendricks pleading falsetto..crafting flawing Motor City Northern Soul This is Motown at it’s very best, it’s Northern Soul at it’s most-motivating and it’s a 7” ready to fit snugly into your DJ box for guaranteed underfloor satisfaction… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 257.00 Al Hughes Take It Or Leave It More than just a very pretty face! If anyone ever asks what is a Northern Soul Stomper? This 45 defines the very meaning of the word.. This is stupidly RARE totally-torrid Detroit Northern Soul! Torrential horns blast up a storm, as the mature vocal stamps his authority on the runway rhythm, as the girls coo, hoo & woo away in the background. Thunderous horns, twist and tear openings for the meaty vocal to attack, KILLER!! Another seriously elusive disc that has suffered over the decades from it’s own obscurity; never ever receiving the amount of NS Jocking exposure it deserved. Only because so very few DJ’s ever owned a copy…Will it eventually have it’s day..? too damn powerful not to… is my judgement.. Ultra Rare Detroit not only at it’s most beautiful but also at it’s most dangerous.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 331.00 Elijah & The Ebonites Pure Soul C/w Sock It To Em Soul Brother From the highly respected “Cap Soul” Corporation of Columbus, Ohio comes a chunk of NS Funk partnered by a Beasting-Boo-Ga-Loo. Jeff Smith’s enterprises gave the rare soul collector so much to lust after. This example being one of the very difficult ones to secure and totally right for feeding today’s Funk-driven Northern Soul appetite. A relentless dance instrumental with everything going on in the studio, lifted highly and out of the ordinary by the wailing horns..blast a path through plucking guitar rhythm… you do not have to imagine very hard to know that this at FULL VOLUME in a packed all-niter it.. would lift the roof! If that’s not enough Bill Moss’s dance-hall classic “Sock It To ‘em Soul Brother” is featured “instrumental” style on the flip.. Two utterly compelling vocal-free dancefloor winners on one very elusive disc.. Condition could not be finer - MINT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 111.00 Ben E. King The Hermit Of Misty Mountain C/w Don't Play That Song The lusciousness of the Yellow London Demo glares before you once more, looking as tempting as ever, with eye-focusing brilliance. This time it’s a slice of Beat Ballad Heaven with Ben E. King’s double helping of the Big New York production, made in that landmark year in USA history 1962, with the Brill Building peaking to it’s best, as they turn out lasting classics by the ton. Even though in recent times “Hermit” has received plenty of Northern Soul turntable time; The value of course in this listing lies in it’s glorious format and flawless condition.. Two sparkling labels, impeccable vinyl surfaces snuggled inside its birth-sleeve. Click the sound-file to be reminded of a period in time, when they made music that will never, in fact could never, be repeated.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 49.00 Martha Star No Part Time Love For Me C/w It's Too Bad Baby I Know, I Know - Manship has a weird label and vinyl condition-disorder. I’ve also got a THELMA disorder, it was afterall the first label run I tried to complete, I still have, like many of you, a real passion for Thelma Promo’s which unlike this offering, invariably have Radio Station or “Promo-Man” graffiti spoiling the view.. This copy is absolutely pristine in every way - my penchant for condition of the NS classics, is I know shared by many other Old-School Aficionados as for some, surface marks, writing on labels is objectionable in the extreme. What is this weird vinyl quest for perfection… it just seems to get stronger as you get older.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 161.00 Patty & The Emblems Mixed-up, Shook-up Girl C/w Ordinary Guy Even back in 1964 the genius of pianist Leon Huff’s lyrics, captured the ears of America. This was Patty Russell’s only notable hit, as the “Huff” tongue-tying lyrics are superbly delivered by Patty and the gang. Apparently an early “Twisted Wheel” favourite that never sold a bean in the UK, hard to find today on either Stock or promo press. But as an utterly flawless Red & White DEMO.. the picture tells it all. It’s rare, gorgeous, pristine and totally irresistible.. not only to those of you serious about your “British”, but also the NS Jocks who want to turntable “pose” as I see this is featuring on more than one DJ’s play lists recently… they may play the USA Herald release.. but nobody could “trump” the Red & White Stateside DEMO! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 100.00 Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels Break Out C/w I Need Help An head-swiveling listing for those who appreciate the beauty of the label and it’s clothes as much as the music in the grooves. Eye-Candy for the discerning NS Collector seeking out the most-beautifully rare variations of the Northern Soul classics.. Far to pretty to just go straight to the website..this “baby” can’t sit in the corner.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 55.00
  22. thought this was on mercury ?? mine is, did it come out on philips as well ??. joe.
  23. hi, got one with 9 pound steel on the b-side, got a few vinyl marks that don't affect play, plays around vg++ or better, make me an offer, joe. ps. can't get the message (pm ) to work maybe it works from your end.
  24. Sag War Fare Don't Be So Jive C/w Girl You Better Change Masterful Florida outing for the quirkily named SAG War Fare. Recorded in Orlando’s Bee Jay studios this distinguished double sider is indeed sex on a turntable. The few copies that were in the hands of the cognoscenti in the late 90’s didn’t suit the flavor stipulated by the feet on the floor at soul venues of the time; It’s moment in the limelight for this killer “Don’t Be So Jive” came a little later when tastes had changed and the A side was embraced by the crossover crowd and those open minded Europeans. The flip, “Girl ! You better change”, a swoony mid tempo groover (the better side ?) flicks all the right switches. I wonder what that exclamation mark is for ? Because a record of this stature it would not be overkill for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to be in the title. Two massively appreciated Rare Soul Jewels on one disc. Currently heading up the invincible sets of such DJ dignitaries as David Ripolles, Soul Sam … Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 4,529.00 Carol Woods & The Executives Heart Breaker C/w Ooh Baby The shrill honeyed vocal of Ms. Woods supported by a male vocal group is the perfect springboard for two standout Rare Soul recordings to be conceived. Top side is a weighty hammond driven slab of real-deal Northern Soul with a beseeching Sister vocal enriched by a smooth set of Soul Men “Whoo-Whooing” & “Arrh-Arrhing” in the background. It’s relentless rhythm is punctuated by an impressive Hammond break as the gathering pauses for breath… an ideal record for the “Upfront Venues” as it drips with class but not reveal one drop of commercialism. Flip it over for a Sweet Soul “Grail”, as the pace drops to a stroll and the lead vocal falls to it’s knees and “Pain” fills the air. The guys do their utmost to soothe her proclamation of love..how how good is this!! The finest vocal group ballad I’ve heard in an age, and the topside is belting Northern Soul - we think this 45 will find a whole new value next month…as collectors get a long hard listen over our You Tube channel. Two breathtaking sides… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 374.00 Towanda Barnes If I'm Guilty C/w Oh Darling A Northern Soul sleeper in previous decades this rarity, is now Dead-Perfect for today’s funkier edged Northern Soul sets. I can envisage this potent juggernaut gracing the turntables of such iconic clubs as Brooklyn’s “Dig Deeper” sessions where remarkable vocals riding raging arrangements are the order of the day. The under-recorded “Towanda” has one of those all-commanding vocals that lifts a recording into greatness. In recent times I’ve found this 45 so very difficult to find, really struggling to unearth a copy, as I knew for today’s demanding scene it is utterly foolproof turntable winner. In the right hands the price will rocket.. Click the soundfile - and hang on for dear life! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 132.00 Del Davis Baby Don't Wake Me The genius of Jackie Edwards excites us yet again, with another buoyant dance recording to pleasure the Northern Soul scene. Jackie just knows exactly how to write and produce songs that stay with you long after the stylus is lifted. Gravel-dusted vocal chords of Del Davis are decorated by a glossy male vocal group who’s constant choruses lift this groove right up there with the best Soul-dance recordings of the era. Sha-La-La-La !! - Superb stuff NOTE. this is a flawless 1971 press not the Trojan 7870 released the following year. Killer dance groove on it’s first UK label in blinding condition. Click the soundfile resist if you can. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 283.00 Sounds Of Blackness Baby I Need You C/w Running Insanely RARE soulful stepper…the subtle intro of horn and piano gives no indication of what’s going to transpire; as the jazzy horn blows everything suddenly changes gear, elevating itself into a slick fusion of male lead and shrill girl-harmony backing. The flipside will take you on a journey into Sweet Soul Shangri-La, as the vocals tighten up, gushing out wave after wave of flowing harmony. This is sensational Sweet Soul, utterly dreamy, as note perfect lead vocal tears at your heart with icy-cold crooning. As the song develops the lead voices interchange, the backing-smooth mushrooms into a wall of support. This is Gold Standard Sweet Soul at your fingertips, with the lead side begging for the Thinking-DJ exposure.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 108.00 Mary Wells Two Lovers C/w Operator CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION !! Another listing for the OCD Serial British Motown upgraders.. As you can see this copy still sits in it’s 52 year old jacket, puffing out it’s two perfect labels. Vinyl was most-likely UNPLAYED before we lifted the double soundfile. As this 45 came from a recent “60s Record Shop” old stock find. We doubt you’ll ever find another one in this condition, only sign of age is the occasional lightest, briefest sleeve vibration contact blemish from 1/2 a century of storage. NOTE again the die-cut 4 prong center still has minuscule paper shards clinging on in the cut area - a litmus test for “no human contact” As Good As It Gets… British Motown collectable. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 76.00 Ikettes Prisoner In Love C/w Those Words So fresh the near 50 year old tiny paper shards from it’s machine die-cut for the 3 prong center, are still in the gap. Condition could hardly be better, two full gloss vinyls, two perfect labels complete with company sleeve. It’s a spanking… As is the music, typically-torrid Ike Turner session, seemingly using “Tina” for the ghoulish laughing effects with the rest girls whipping up a storm with a barrage of vocal dripping with attitude. The flip ratchets up the pace but leaves none of the PMT behind.. two really fabulous R&B shakers on one the world’s most sough-after labels.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 89.00 Billy Preston The Most Exciting Organ Ever UK SUE again, these 60s release are getting more collectable by the day. So very sought after as their blinding beauty ever diminishes. Iconic in the extreme check out those bold almost ostentatious labels - eye-candy for the addict. Then consider one of the greatest R&B keyboard magicians of the last century and you’ll see why “Billy’s Bag” was a Twisted Wheel theme tune of huge popularity. Well before you is a feast of hammond laid of a platter that even if you’re on a vinyl-diet you’ll be digging in. British SUE perhaps currently the world’s most-wanted. Note: “The Most Exciting Organ Ever!” refers to his outstanding keyboard not his bedroom prowess.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 46.00 Barbara Mcnair You're Gonna' Love My Baby Oh how nice is this - you good-looking thing you. The rarely seen MAP design 1965 PROMO copy inside the company sleeve. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 135.00 Limitations I'm Lonely, I'm Troubled Rarely do we ever grade Mint - but this copy the vinyl is just utterly pristine! In recent times this 45 was starting to get the attention it so deserved in the late 70s & early 80s when it never quite exploding into the predicted Monster we all thought it would be. But now with some notable DJ’s like Carl Willingham, Andy Dennison etc firmly behind it, it will, if not already be tipping the scales at as a NS Heavyweight. PS the flip is something special also.. Liz Bacone’s label and production skills delivers propulsive vocal group Northern Soul powered by a Frankie Beverly cymbal-brush intro, followed frantic bongos whacking and the insanely inventive “Wah Wah” guitar, the result being a lead-in you’ll never forget! Vocally fabulous… sandpaper-coated front vocal is supported by manly harmony backing…a lengthy”Wah-Wah” break and this monster is building up.. will it ever relent… not on ya life. Stomping, bare-knuckle punching Northern Soul for those who can really dance… On the up with no sign of slowly down… PS the flipside is something special, also. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 387.00 Exciters Blowing Up My Mind! We always try and make our weekly choices for this area of the site an interesting informative read, this currently massive Northern Soul revival tune is ideal for that purpose. NOTE: this is the 1969 FIRST PRESS PROMO in perfect condition, likewise the two perfect labels. NOT the RCA # 1035 1972 press commissioned by those Arkwright Street, Soul Cellar boys of Nottingham’s renowned Select-A-Disc. “Blowing Up My Mind” was by 1972 a total Northern Soul Monster; simultaneously a Golden Torch, Blackppol Mecca & Catacombs favourite. With Select-A-Disc already having RCA re-issue Roy Hamilton’s - Cracking Up Over You - on the previous # RCA 1034 these two re-issues came to the UK together, cementing Select-A-Disc’s RCA collaboration opening the way for later “Orange” label re-issues Lorraine Chandler, Micheal & Raymond, Laura Green, Paul Anka etc. etc. Making this FIRST PRESS promo in perfect condition, one darn difficult to acquire 45, especially in USA lifetime filed condition. We do hope yo found that info useful, it’s not always about the value it’s also about an interesting and for some an enlightening read.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 211.00 Dynamics Yes, I Love You Baby C/w Soul Sloopy This weeks Northern Soul classic comes in the form of the Californian press of a fabulous piece Detroit mastery from the Richard Popcorn Wylie and long pardner Anthony Hester. This influential duo contributed so much outstanding material for the Northern Soul enthusiast it’s impossible to agree on what was their greatest creation. But this spring of 1966 session was right up there with their finest. Catchy in the extreme, contagiously unavoidable dancefloor delight, adorned with a sax break that squeals approval for the preceding vocal togetherness. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL - THIS IS IT’S MOST-DESIRABLE FORM Vinyl is nigh-perfect as is the A-side label, flipside label has a faded moniker on it (see scan) Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 287.00 Chubby Checker You Just Don't Know (what You Do To Me) C/w Two Hearts Makes One Love THE ONLY KNOWN COPY IN THE WORLD! 1965 East Coast “Bell Sound” stamped VINYL press former Cameo Parkway archive copy! offering amazing sound fidelity! Study the label very carefully, the pressing plant has used CAMEO labels and turned then to the “Blank” side and press then from the label hopper. To be written on as obviously thee was not East Coast label made for this iconic 45 that never got issued in the USA. It was common practice to use over stock label and turn them over for “Test Presses” it is something we has encountered before. As is the “Bell Sound” stamped wasn’t enough for 100% authenticity the reversed “Cameo” blanks seals it’s remarkable history. We repeat this is 45 is: THE ONLY KNOWN COPY IN THE WORLD! A listing for those of you who take Northern Soul collecting to it’s challenging limits! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 366.00 Kaddo Strings Crying Over You C/w Nothing But Love Duke Browner vocal or instrumental is perhaps the most inpsiring Northern Soul oldie spin of the moment.. How about this UNIQUE 1979 British RCA 10” direct cut acetate to wow the crowd with? Sound straight from the vibrating hot needle, pegging every note in fine detail. Listen and you’ll soon realize just how much work Harry Balk, John Rhys and Barney “Duke” Browner injected into their days work. “Lush Strings” hardly goes any where near to describing this full orchestra sounding Northern Soul instrumental classic. This of course has to be it’s rarest form. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 36.00 Larry Lester Go For Yourself God! NO wonder I LOVE Northern Soul… The needle drops - and my mind is navigating through time to all the great clubs I’ve heard this played over the years and not once was it one listen too many…It’s a never-tire-of masterpiece, that incarcerated many a teenager to a lifetime of “Northern” Never Bootlegged, seldom heard and as fresh today as it was in 1973 when it broke through big…If ever a record ignited “Euphoric Recall” for me… this just does it.. Check the soundfile to feel inspired and take note this copy is no tired, well traveled Clubber, this plays perfectly from start to finish without even the merest hint of previous stylus encounters. Gorgeous clean labels too Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 221.00
