  1. Shirley Edwards Dream My Heart SHRINE TIME! The only single female artist release on the label and another one of the very hard SHRINE release to capture. Typically Shrine in every way, uplifting dance production tamed by a soulful girl vocal that again underlines this label’s unnerving consistency in delivering quality. Check out the soundfile of this seldom heard 45, which is as impressive as all those other D.C. Diamonds this label bestowed on the Northern Soul scene. Vinyl is neat and clean, label has water damage as you can see, it does NOT affect the credits. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,572.00 Pro-fascination Try Love Again C/w I Want To Wrap You In My Arms Not one, but TWO sides of spectacular soulful dance, arranged by the King of New Orleans Soul Wardell Quezergue. Click the soundfile, first for an instantly inspirational dance-floor fuel; the slow start gives a pause before the horns burst through, then quickens to perfect Northern Soul style dance pace. Strong vocals bounce of each other with a constant guitar driving the rhythm..this a truly great dance music, that has yet to pierce the Northern Soul wall of oldies.. but it should do as it has all the same qualities that made Innersection, Ujima, Brothers Guiding Light and the lke NS monsters. The flip is another world again, mid-tempo heaven that has grace t6he turntable of Soul Essence, Just Soul & The Orwell for a number of years, but the magic never fades whilst dancing to records of this calibre.. Two great sides that thoroughly satisfy two DJing needs.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 796.00 Natural Facts Girl Don't Cry C/w What Time It? I know I’m not alone in my love in searching for under-valued, underplayed and needlessly neglected rare Northern Soul to pop into the DJ box and hope for a “Rare & Underplayed” DJ spot to air them in. Check out this unusual double-delight from Trenton, New Jersey. It’s been around for decades but elusivity has held it back from racing with the NS thoroughbreds, the big ticket trophies that are not as rare and in some cases not as good. Lou Henderson’s D.I.Y. project churns out an upbeat, feelgood vocal group dancer with sweet harmonies swirling around a “blue-eyed sounding” lead vocal, broken up by inventive instrumental break, drum rolls all mingled into an unforgiving pace, that is NORTHERN SOUL. Flip is really off-the-wall but will end up grabbing you just the same! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 188.00 Jackie Edwards The Best Of The best of ? That must mean everything this Jamaican genius was ever involved in, as I and most everyone else, considers everything this man touches is “gold” Before you today is the extremely rare 1966 UK white Island label. Cover Design & sleeve notes by Guy Stevens Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 87.00
  2. QUITE A FEW US SELLERS/ DEALERS NOW PUT UP A SOUND CLIP AND SAY MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP ABOUT THE GRADE, WHICH I FIND IS MOSTLY BETTER THAN SOMEONE'S DESCRIPTION WHICH IS SOMETIMES NOT MINE, AS EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT HEARING AND OR SOUND EQUIPMENT WHICH CAN BE DIFFERENT, THERE'S STILL QUITE A FEW SELLERS DO EYES ONLY GRADING WHICH IS NEXT TO USELESS BUT CAN BE TO MY / YOUR ADVANTAGE AS THEY TEND TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION, HAD A FEW NICE ONES THIS WAY OVERTHE YEARS, WISH I KNEW HOW THEY GET SO MANY SOUND CLIPS ON EBAY IT TAKE ME AGES TO DO ANY ATALL, JUST ME I GUESS. JOE.
  3. looks like all's well that ends well pete, just put it down to the strange world of selling vinyl i guess, not just northern soul is it, any kind of music will do, joe.
  4. Bob & Earl Don't Ever Leave Me C/w Fancy Free SUE # 374 was Chris Blackwell & Guy Stevens biggest success whilst making available the weird and wonderful R&B from the USA. “Harlem Shuffle” of course rose to be the Bi-word for a MOD soulful get together. Unfortunately successful sales for SUE release were few and far between, following “Harlem Shuffle” came two other Bob & Earl dance tunes, both of which fell on stoney ground to later become very hard to acquire number in the series. This 1967 press the last of the three releases started life 5 years earlier USA Tempe release. A gritty grinding Soul-Stroller with bags of attitude and energy. Flip it over and the pace picks up and offers another great transitional Soul dancer. Robert Relf & Earl Nelson may never have reached the heights of Sam & Dave but they did contribute more as a duo & solo artist than another other duo I can think of. Interesting maybe, but the main point here is; find a flawless copy of SUE 4030 if you can.. an essential number in the UK most-wanted label and it’s pristine! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 140.00 Blues & Soul No. 6 November 1968 Special Edition which includes the Reader’s Poll results for Soul recordings and artists for 1967. Now 45 years old and looks like it’s has just come through the post - MINT! Not even the merest crease to spoil the view of this RARE issue # 6 with the “Motown Break-Out!” advert on the back page. also includes: Bio on Barbara Mason In the spotlight - Al Greene inc: artist pic Wilson Pickett bio inc: artist pic USA Top 50 Soul city top 20 The New Platters - bio inc: artist pic SKA page - bio of Pyramids inc: artist pic SKA style review new releases The BELL RECORDS story Bell Albums page + advert Island Records - Soul Album advert Troy Keyes - bio inc: artist pic Latest Soul 45 release reviews. Which includes worst record of the month - Tyrone Davis on Stateside. Now we know why that killer tune is so rare! nobody bought it. Condition is jaw-dropping, information is vital to all who enjoys a look into our past. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 36.00 Maurice Williams Being Without You Another, in a bunch of recent acquisitions from over the Pond that have yet to meet a Northern Soul turntable. Maurice is one of the biggest revival Northern Soul oldies of the moment! And this New Orleans born stomper is in PERFECT flawless condition! Avoiding Northern Soul all it’s life so far - we doubt you’ll ever see a finer condition copy! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 199.00
  5. Homer Banks A Lot Of Love C/w Fighting To Win Doogle Muse - WHO? You might well ask, but Dougle to the Melton Mowbray teenager in 1968 was “God of the Disco” he played SOUL spinning discs we’d never heard of before. “A Lot Of Love” was a Kirby Lane Youth Club top-choice that gave relief after a hard week of smoking in the Bike-Sheds, chasing Patricia Durrance around the desks, followed by beating up Forest fans during dinner break. We thought he was “God” but he was playing it from the 1968 UK Minit re-issue with “60 Minutes Of Your Love” on the flip that we thought was also a “Doogle-exclusive” Years later you look back on these episodes of your teenage life and realize just how sheltered we were from the real world of record collecting. Before you today is a flawless 1966 FIRST ISSUE DEMO of Homer’s timeless club-masterpiece that would have rocked places a little better connected than our Friday-world of “Kirby Lane Youth Club”. The Nite Owl - Leicester, Twisted Wheel - Manchester, Mojo - Sheffield and most every Soho Club had rattled to the momentum of Memphis at least two years earlier. Click the sound, it will catapult you back in time, to wherever you cut your “Soul-Teeth” at, as every small town in the UK had it’s own “Doogle Muse the Disco-God” being “hip”, desperately trying to keep up with the trends of the Big City Soul clubs. This 1966 history-charged rarity is in eye-popping condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 83.00 Jesse Fisher Honey C/w I Can't Stop Loving You Just one year before the disco-explosion a Cleveland joining of forces crafted two killer soul recordings that were supposed to be the stepping-stone to a Jesse Fisher Album that never happened. Primarily Dunn Pearson, Harry Dempsey, Lyman Moffatt & Floyd Fleshman crafted two sessions that sadly proved fruitless despite using full orchestra and backing vocals to compliment Jesse’s seamless vocal. Check the top side a superb soulful dance tune that has graced the decks at “Just Soul” “Soul Essence” “The Orwell” for decades but sadly never crossed over to the Northern Soul masses - even though it is absolutely perfect to do so. Another case of rarity standing in the way of progress? Flip it over - and be prepared for a heavy mood change as Jesse get’s down and serious with love Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 166.00 Major Lance You Don't Want Me No More C/w Wait Til I Get You In My Arms Original first press STOCK copy of a classic that needs no words from me or anyone else, it’s a NS Anthem of the highest order. This is a Golden Torch theme tune that nailed any and all who heard it in 1972 to a lifetime of Northern Soul, with those of you lucky enough to have witnessed his life performance at the “Torch” December 9th. 1972, consider it the greatest “Soul” experience of their lives. The one and only “Major” at his most vibrant! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 376.00
  6. Jackie Russell If You Don't Want Me (let Me Be) C/w Don't Trade Love For Money Just check out that label - with the handwritten logo SOUL KITCHEN - label art don’t come much more engaging than this. But this street-level 60s rarity is so much more than a captivating view. Top side is pulsating horn-saturated Northern Soul dancer with the mysterious Jackie Russell wringing out every ounce of frustration from the lyrics before an almighty horn break lifts this session to heights of greatness. Why the hell this 45 has only bubbled away in conversations of rare pieces and not been an automatic choice for up-front rare soul turntables is puzzling. It has everything required for a sharp rise in demand and value if it was only heard! Plus Deep Soul fans will be impressed with Jackie has he takes the pace down and spills his heart onto the floor on the flipside. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 336.00 Barbara Lynn The Barbara Lynn Story Insanely RARE 1967 UK SUE release! 14 track testament to this Texan’s writing, singing and guitar skills covering her years with Huey P. Meaux and material released on Jamie Records. We lifted a small sample of sounds to highlight this Sisters unique vocal-delivery. Check out her ease with R&B dance and Deep Soul ballads which includes her non-45 rendition of Barrett Strong’s “Money” a gritty gal R&B shaker. Oh baby (we got a good thing going) You’ll lose a good thing Don’t spread it around Money All I Need Is Your Love with 9 equally enthralling other cuts to consider. Bonus is Soul City’s entrepreneur Dave Godin’s informative sleeve notes, as always are way ahead in style and knowledge. Vinyl is awesome - Mint - Labels are both MINT, retains original inner sleeve, front and back cover are free of any writing, tears, stains or splits. Scrutinized the scan which will reveal only light age “browning” in a few areas of this delicately lilac non-laminated front cover. Back cover is flawless, Album aficionados will know this is a chance not to miss to own one of Britain’s most-coveted LP’s. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 333.00 Vibrations New Vibrations One of the highlights of my life and maybe many others was being able to gawk in amazement as these guys taking Prestatyn Weekender by the throat; Shaking it to it’s foundations, as their jaw-dropping act mesmerized the shoulder to shoulder thousands in the main hall. Before you today as a memento of March 9th. 2013, is their 3rd of 4 Okeh album releases as a sought-after PROMO in dream condition. VINYL is MINT LABELS are MINT COVER is Mint - sporting a perfectly “tapered” design spine. Front and back cover are flawless just minor signs of human contact can be detected by a critical eye. You will not find a finer PROMO copy - and you won’t witness a more energetic gathering of guys doing their thing than the VIBRATIONS live - they were just overwhelming! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 60.00 John Woodson Before Soulful Crossover fans here’s a 45 that we’ve never listed before and know of no other DJ/ Collectors who has a copy. A rap intro is followed by a soaring vocal cradled by string and a purring horn work..background kettle-drums build this atmospheric up and up as this most-soulful session progresses. If you seek the completely RARE. This Los Angeles late 60s Northern Soul stroller gives you that and more. The driving force behind PAM-O RECORDS (The Perfections etc.) Johnny Woodson writes, arranges & produces this beauty, that was most likely withdrawn or never never put on sale, as amazing the last note on the recording is the studio door slamming shut, so maybe Johnny was not too proud of his editing? For whatever reason this 45 is insanely RARE! A primitively sumptuous tune that will creep under your skin, and your friends skin too because he just ain’t gonna own a copy! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 211.00
  7. Gwen Owens Just Say You're Wanted (and Needed) C/w Still True To You VELGO - SI-C10003-A SOUND INC. 344 In short, simply the finest condition copy of this 45 on Planet Earth. A Premiership Northern Soul trophy piece of huge repute. For those who seek PERFECTION of the impossible Northern Soul classic 45s …this is THE LAST WORD… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 5,624.00 Mel Williams Burn, Baby, Burn This versatile Los Angeles Soul man’s finest Northern Soul offering! Completely elusive real-deal classic style stomper that climbs on an inferno of horns, girls and tricky guitar, then a wall string fuel the fire for dancefloor destruction! WOW! I’ve always loved this record that has only suffered from it’s own extreme rarity from becoming a timeless monster. Imagine this at full volume at 1am in Prestatyn’s main-room.. the place would have turned into a fireball of appreciation. Especially after the 5th play of Sam & Kitty.. My feelings are if you want something detonate a dancefloor it doesn’t have to be a tired overplayed obvious oldie - but it does have to have that magic ingredient to stir the crowd - BURN BABY BURN has it by the bucket full.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 812.00 Hollidays I Lost You C/w Easy Living If you seek value for money whilst trying to acquire the finer end of Northern Soul there are quite a few rarities that carry not one but two equally sophisticated sides. This 45 has been a resident in my seldom-used DJ for over a decade, because it is drenched is class no matter which side you drop the needle on. Checkout the awe-inspiring tunes this listing is about to hit you with. Topside is an irresistible Detroit dancer written and produced by brief Hollidays member, the inimitable Tony Hester and sung by Steve Mancha. The session showcases Detroit horns, a Mike Terry baritone sax with timely prompting for the poignant lyrics, as Steve M. portrays his tribulation and regret so convincingly. THIS IS PERFECT DETROIT NORTHERN SOUL Flip it over, it’s a different style but every note as good; with the one and only Jack Ashford writing and producing as ever, stimulating-soul-excellence aided by Lorraine Chandler. Steve’s gravel-coated lead-vocal delivers a monumental performance, fully supported this time by some silky-smooth teammates - who turn the session into utterly awesome vocal-group Northern Soul! Why this record wasn’t directly credited to Steve Mancha is allegedly due to Steve Mancha not liking either side, so giving the honor to an incorrectly spelled “Hollidays” …that can’t be true..can it? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 713.00 Timeless Legend I Was Born To Love You Part 1 & 2 Columbus, Ohio soul that just skewers them to the dancefloor! Horns by the plenty, shrill vocals, key changes that meet every requirement for the practiced dancer to flaunt-fast-footwork to matchless 80s soulful dance. It that wasn’t enough the recording boasts a spectacular sax break to end all 80s saxophone moments. Note: this totally seductive disc has the labels FULLY present near everyone of the few I’ve encountered have had the label address of Columbus, Ohio butchered from sight. This copy is a clean MINT - in every respect. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 476.00
  8. Donna King Take Me Home This defiant young-girl message to her first night boyfriend with less than honorable designs on her, is considered the pinnacle of Sister-Northern-Soul. With Donna displaying an impassioned refusal to be taken advantage of woven into a strident dance production, that rattled the dance-floors of Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca & Cleethorpes Pier at the height of the scene. We have often advised if you gonna invest in vinyl there are not too many better choices than rare New Orleans 45s… as in recent years they have become so much the rarer for tragic weather events. This copy has light surface marks but as you can hear it’s plays loud, clean & clean with both labels flaw free other than minuscule light ridge wear. We feel owning this title is a very smart way to collect rare Northern Soul. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 811.00 Barry St. John Everything I Touch Turns To Tears UK only version of the 1965 Jimmy Clanton original. Listen to our own Mickie Most crafting a fine 1966 production of the Gary Geld & Peter Udell song into stomping Northern Soul. In the 1976 / 77 era of Northern Soul finding British produced 60s dance tunes was at a fever pitch, with DJ’s like the legendary Cleethorpes Winter Gardens Nev Wherry or Wigan Casino’s Alan Rhodes at the forefront of any pioneering discoveries. This very elusive 1966 was hugely popular at both clubs during that time. UK only and very rarely on the market - this copy is in unblemished flawless condition throughout. Take a listen to be transported back to those much-loved sets of Nev Wherry and Co. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 651.00 Twisted Wheel Mail Shot For March 1969 Ben E. King live for 25/- What a neat package TWO handbills for Ben E. King live! and the coming April 1969 Months attractions mailed out 21st March 1969 complete with the original stamped envelope! The interest in the Twisted Wheel has never been greater - this pristine package is begging to be framed for future prosperity and conversation. I adore Northern Soul memorabilia especially the rare stuff in Mint condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 44.00
  9. Four Perfections I'm No Strong Enough An Anthem! in perfect unblemished eye-watering condition. The now all to familiar instrumental intro, without exception signals a Wildebeest style migration to the to the dancefloor! As no matter how many times you’ve heard this prestigious slab of Northern Soul - you just can’t grow tired of those flowing harmony vocals woven into an absolute 60s dance-production. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL……..at it’s best! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 585.00 Oliver Norman Drowning In My Own Despair C/w Your Love Counts Seriously elusive 1967 BLACK stock that seems to be one of the most elusive of all those gorgeous Black Decca Northern Soul goodies we strive to own. You would not know listening but this is a 1966 UK production with guitarist Shel Talmy transporting all his Chicago experience to London where he guided the Kinks & The Who through some fine R&B inspired recordings. Likewise Oliver Norman’s session is an inspired Big Vocal beauty drenched with a Big City USA inspired horn arrangement and highly-pitched girl-group chorus the hallmark of so many Northern soul greats. The combination of Norman Oliver’s writing & Shel’s production prowess pays off not once but twice as the “unknown” flipside is every note as rewarding. Very rare in this format - and offering two sides of real quality British Northern Soul..not to be missed! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 311.00
  10. Don Varner I Finally Got Over C/w Here Come My Tears I’m as guilty as the next man for the overuse of the word “RARE”. All records I’ve listed in recent times should maybe downgraded to “Scarce” “Seldom Seen” “Hardly Ever Comes To Market” “Disappeared” whatever adjective fits the listing. But RARE does not go anywhere near to describing this huge helping of Birmingham, Alabama SOUL that treats us to stomping Northern Soul on one side and grievously-tortured Deep Soul on the flip. A record that flaunts every aspect of what collecting Rare Records is all about. Tiny label, with both sides written by the artist himself, showcasing two aspects of his character. An upbeat dance side of pure street-level potency, no frills no fuss just “Foot-To-The-Metal” proper Northern Soul stomper of the purist kind - flip it and this great man spills his emotions for all to weep with him. BEYOND RARE and awash with both despair & passion in equal amounts.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 713.00 Sy Hightower I Know You're Leaving Me Choice California pre-disco dance soul on the very attractive silver adorned design label. Oakland doyen of the studio Willie Hoskins again arranges & conducts a supremely soulful assembly with Jerry Pittman & friends. The result as you will hear is a flowing jazzy emotion-filled stepper in which Hoskins marinates Mr. Hightower’s abrasive vocal chords with strings, a purring girl-group answering service woven together by persistent intricate guitar work. Then suddenly WH ramps up the girl-backing into a heavenly soaring experience that elevates the whole record into greatness. Hoskins was a such an innovative craftsmen, his productions always carry that little bit extra for the ear & heart to contend with. Mid-70s soulful dance records just don’t get much better than this - do they… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 463.00 Little Luther Eenie Meenie Minie Moe C/w Twirl Very RARE and utterly flawless 1964 UK DEMO of the Checker 1090 release. After the premature passing of Elmore James @ the age of 45 his backing electric guitarist Luther “Snake Boy” Johnson recorded his 3rd single and only 45 for Chess Records. And what an uplifting session it was too.. Perfect feelgood jump-blues R&B MOD dancefloor cruiser no matter which side you drop the needle. Opening bars showcase this man’s intricate self-taught guitar skills, as his rasping throaty vocal glides into the rhythm. Killer 60s Chicago Rhythm & Blues in by far and away it’s most desirable format…i’ll be sure not to mention the pristine condition …again? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 63.00
  11. Jerry Naylor City Lights Could Harley Hatcher or Mike Curb have envisaged whilst they were making this recording in 1965 they would both be at the helm of one of the world’s biggest record companies. CURB RECORDS now a worldwide name in music. But back then they guided a former Texas DJ, who joined the Crickets after the tragic death of Buddy Holly. As their lead vocalist he made his name as an artist, in 1965 the Crickets split and Jerry went solo with fully 7 releases for Capitol on their Tower subsiduary. But only this single side met Northern Soul dancefloor requirements of frantic-feelgood, amphetamine fueled acrobatic stomping music that simultaneously shook the insides of The Casino & The Pier. It matters not your past or your future if at some point in your career you recorded a 60s dance record with Northern Soul ingredients. Those NS vinyl-hounds will find it… they did just that around 10 years after it’s release and it’s been a favoured all niter choice ever since.. This copy is utterly spotless still hugging it’s birth sleeve. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 383.00 Carlena Weaver Jealousy C/w Heart Break Buffalo, New York Sister Northern Soul that has slept for far too long.. Let Carlena’s husky vocal take you to the dancefloor on a wave of horns; listen has her captivating voice flits in and out of the uptempo rhythm littered with timely primitive instrumental breaks that add to it’s irresistible charm. A highly respected under-the-radar record that everyone has tipped to do great things at some point in time, but thus so far has not hit the heights it so obviously deserves. Vocal-brilliance embroidered into one hell of dance production. This 45 has everything! including a Deep Soul ballad flipside that suits Carlena’s anguished demeanor even better - as she delivers a down-on-your-knees performance supported by those primal horns throughout. Two killer tunes - each and every serious Rare Soul collector should strive to own, which ever side appeals… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 152.00 Various Artists Sue Story Volume 3 Guy Stevens takes a break from the front cover and hands the job to the Sue office cleaner! For this the lasdt in the 1966 series of SUE compilations. Back cover notes are penned by non-other than the legendary DJ Mike Raven then a Radio 390 pirate DJ but later moving on to front Radio Soul shows and who could ever forget the Mike Cotton Sound - Soul Serenade Mike used for his theme tune , I can’t vouch for the cleaner but everyone else involved with British SUE was so very “hip”. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 97.00
  12. Band Of Thieves Band Of Thieves RARE ORIGINAL 1976 press from Minneapolis, Minnesota indie album, incorporating awesome sweet Soul harmony, uplifting dance tracks, funk infused Boogie. Includes:1. the superb soulful dance tune “My Story” 2. the sweet soul delight “Love Me Or Leave Me” 3. sweet soul harmony ballad ” I Need You” 4. Boogie funk groove “America” 5. soaring emotion sweet harmony ballad “Sweet Lady” 6. mid-paced dance groove “Call On Me” + 5 more soul tracks. How frustrating must in be to put an album of this quality together and sell virtually nothing. The original press is RARE in the extreme and delivering all aspects of 70s soul of the highest quality. Beware of the re-issues. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 56.00 Miracles (come 'round Here) I'm The One You Need C/w Save Me A lovely clean 1966 British DEMO! Smokey teams up with Holland - Dozier - Holland to create one of the Miracles most-memorable hits - backed with a strong Northern Soul dancer that use to received turntable time a few year back. But this is the PROMO copy - not a record you see very often and in this impeccable condition hardly ever! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 88.00 Butch And The Newports I'm Only A Man Rare and underplayed spotters take time to reacquaint yourself with this beauty. Almost invariably this delicious string driven cross-over Northern Soul dancer is only seen in poor condition. How pleased are we today to be able to offer a copy that will most embarrass the DJ with impressions of frying horse-burgers. This captivating tune has received brief DJ turntable action over the years to enthusiastic connoisseur plaudits. So take another listen and we think you”ll be met by a tune you’ll be wondering why it isn’t already a monster This is the extremely-SOULFUL end of Northern Soul, an under-played offering that just bristles with potential for a bigger ticket. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 210.00
  13. hi paul, thanks for reply, i only asked because of the item i saw the other day, i asked on there and didn't get an answer, so i thought i'd start a question myself, i also bought mine new when it first came out, i've passed over a few demos over the years plus a couple of us issues on big deal. never thought that much of it myself, best, joe.
  14. following on from the discussion last week about is there an issue of jimmy hicks on london / hlu-10396 how rare would you say this is and
  15. hi ady, this any help ??. says it came out in 63, but monarch number says 62.
  16. hi, i've still got an issue of jimmy hicks on the shelf. never seen another, but never thought it was rare, what sort of money is it worth. joe.
  17. hi, sorry i got the date wrong, p.c. was playing up again, couldn't find a way to change it. if there is one.
  18. Gene Woodbury Ever Again C/w That's Not Half Bad Autographed by writer, producer and label main-man William Lucas As the copies of Bernie Williams slowly but surely shy away from the Northern Soul turntables as the value and the scarey fragility of styrene keep the USA Bell release safely filed away and out of reached of cue-burn. So enter this pumping version, that is quickly climbing in value and popularity as it’s rarity increases and the high quality vinyl guarantees durability. It is at this moment a dead-cert dance-floor-detonator. Few will need reminding the flipside is a reworking of his rare earlier Del-Val release also a potent piece of Northern Soul. Offering two strong NS sides on one increasingly elusive disc - that William Lucas a added his moniker to. What more could a boy ask for..? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 539.00 Bare Wire Groovin' Is Easy C/w Run Out Of Time RARE! An undocumented small town Illinois nearly 4 hours from Chicago. Canton, Illinois throws up a late 60s double hitter saturated in attitude and angst with a sound that will remind you of the more defiant of blue-eyed Northern Soul groups like The Q, The Outsiders etc. projecting a mix of foot-to-the-metal Hammond and potent horns whipping up the background for a whining hard-done-to lead singer yelling his youthful frustration into the lyrics. It all works rather well - for those of you seeking the different & the obscure Northern Soul.. this is both. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 34.00 Little Joe Cook Stormy Monday Blues Part 1 & 2 A legendary SUE 45 showcasing the marketing prowess and imagination of Chris Blackwell and Guy Stevens plucking a then “unknown” in the UK Philadelphia singers name, hoping to add “Theatrical gloss” to this blues session. After all, nearly all blues-artist’s name seemed to start with “Little” or “Big”. Whether Chris Farlowe was under contractual obligations elsewhere at the time is unclear but that throaty ball-bearing gargled style vocal could not hide the real artists name for long. In fact if you inspect the label closely the previous owner has written “Alias - Chris Farlowe” neatly under the Little Joe Cook credit. Vinyl is pristine, as is the flipside label - a-side label sports the secret that wasn’t kept for very long. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 62.00
  19. T. K. Murray & C.a.t. C.a.t. Fully SIX outrageously fine 70s dance tracks hidden away on an album that just does not give a hint of the treasures that lie inside. But as always happens, those rare soul pioneers sniffed it out to uncover some amazing tracks. What a shock the first person who discovered these beauties must have had. With NOT a single track reaching 7” status until after 3 decades of Rare Groove spins and demand reaching epidemic proportions did that enterprising DJ Pin-up Andy Davis release 2 singles from this trophy album on his highly regarded STREET SOUL label in 2010 Sit back and listen to fully SIX killer examples of perfect Rare Soulful dance then spy the scan; for lovers of seriously elusive albums in their original form not many offers as much as this prize does. sound clips of of :1. wanted to fall in love 2. where’s there true love 3. brown sugar 4. there ya go again 5. my love, true love 6. use what you got There is a further 3 tracks to complete this masterpiece. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 284.00 Elgins Heaven Must Have Sent You C/w Stay In My Lonely Arms You are spying the rare 1966 UK issue that for some inexplicable reason flopped the first time round in 1966, creating a real TMG rarity. With The Twisted Wheel, Mojo, Nite Owl, Beachcomber etc. DJ’s giving it a new lease of life after it’s quick deletion. Such became it’s popularity EMI re-issued it 187 Tamla Motown releases later in 1970. It was an instant success gaining not only even more Club spins, but also rampaging through every youth club in the land, as the next generation of “soulies” were about to embark on the their own All-Nigher journey’s. So very classic, so many memories for everyone who ever set foot on a 70s dancefloor, but f your serious about UK Tamla Motown you need this, the original 1966 release everybody but the seriously dedicated missed the first time round. 20. Ray Pollard This Time (i'm Gonna Be True) C/w No More Like Me SHRINE TIME! Beloved New Yorker Ray Pollard teams up with newlyweds Raynoma Gordy & Eddie Singleton to craft two amazing BIG VOCAL beauties for the world’s most-collectable Soul-label. Listen and melt when the skills of Motown-tutored Miss Ray builds a mountain of strings engaged by an oohing vocal-group chorus to compliment Mr. Pollard unparalleled “Big City” tone. The marriage of Miss Ray & Eddie Singleton in the studio may have been financed by Motown but they sure took Soul music away from the commercial course Hitsville were careering along. Not a hint of trying to please a white audience as the snarling vocal fills the room suspended by a raft of voices building the harmony chorus supported by some of the finest string arrangements you could ever wish to hear. Flip it over and your in BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN as the pace drops allowing the true potency of Ray Pollard vocal to come trough loud and clear. On this side Miss ray draws from the wonderful early 60s Motown ballads of The Miracles, Satintones & Temptations etc as again she works the backing vocalists though every imaginable pitch. Out of all the SHRINE jewels this one is delivers twice over, with music that is today sadly a LOST ART! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,214.00 Soul Set Will You Ever Learn C/w Please Don't Make Me Cry Carolinas Northern Soul at it’s finest! Rare in the extreme and dripping with that 60s Soul-appreciation the two states clubs bristled with during the 60s. The compulsory horns and a led vocal who wished he was born a different colour are fused by enthusiasm into proper-Northern Soul. Yes a proper real-deal Northern Soul dance-floor delight with a saxophone & horn instrumental break of fully 29 seconds making this one stand-out experience as the booming vocal jumps back in even more pumped up than before. The topside is an unassailable sound of it’s type, but the flipside gives it a run for it’s money - again littered with crazed horn work & that inspired vocal by a mixed of Soul n’ Elvis vocal. Love it! Both sides… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 814.00 Ernest Mosley Stubborn Heart Simultaneously a mid-70s Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Pier monster spawning a bootleg press such was it’s popularity. But before you today is an immaculate (finest condition example I’ve encountered in memory) blue stock copy, on a label that gave the Northern Soul collector quite a few trophies to chase. Click the sound file to be catapulted back to the Golden Age of Northern Soul - follow it with the bid button if you want to own a copy with flawless labels and vinyl that only reveals a couple of brief sleeve brushes in string light. A beautiful period in history and this is one beautiful copy! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 536.00 Marvin Gaye Hello Broadway An unusual Tamla Motown project as Berry Gordy diverts Marvin into jazz mode, but this Los Angeles experiment failed to impress the record buying public BOTH sides of the Atlantic. As the USA album it is seldom seen for sale, as this the 14th British album release under the Tamla Motown label it failed miserably. Today this highly sought-after missing number, is considered a top ten rarest resident of the first 100 releases. This copy has a neat clean cover with no flaws front or back. Both labels are clean - vinyl only reveals a couple of light surface blemishes in strong light and suits snugly inside the original 1965 poly-lined inner. A very tough lp to acquire and this copy is a beauty! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 88.00

As the well documented arranging and producing skills of Johnny Pate & Carl Davis are again on full display for the serious soul-scholar to hear. A 1964 horn driven “What’s The Mater Baby Is It Hurtin’ You” style Big City Beater of the most infectious kind. Already a Popcorn monster and BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN favourite with a lead Yuro-esque vocal prompted by a huge trombone intro, shrill girlfriend chorus and mighty ear-drum invading instrumental break, what’s not to like? This is girl-group Popcorn/Northern Soul at it’s best. A disc with value coming through fivefold - Chicago, girl group, OKEH and superb Northern Soul / Popcorn dancer into the bargain. Sorry sixfold the condition is spectacular! Sorry, this item has already been won! I’d tell you more, but to be frank the amazing condition has left me scared of flicking through the pages.. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER EXAMPLE! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 107.00 Marvelettes One Kiss Led To Another Motown and girl group collectors this 10” studio acetate is a one-of-a-kind unissued Motown session by one of the label’s most-loved groups. master # DM 042105 never reached vinyl most likely recorded circa 1963 Not the Coasters song from 1956 but strong new Marv Johnson composition showcasing a soulful young-girl Motown stroller with Gladys Horton’s lovelorn vocal leading proceedings. With the Funk Brothers adding depth - possibly Marvin Gaye & Benny Benjamin on Drums, certainly James Jamerson on his instantly recognizable Bass Guitar, Richard “Popcorn” Wylie on Piano, Eddie “Bongo” Brown providing subtle bongo rhythm and a rather classy under-stated baritone sax pumping away with timely prompts could well be Mike Terry. The harmony background vocals from we presume Wanda Young, Georgeanna Tillman, Wyanetta (“Juanita”) Cowart & Katherine Anderson bring together a beautifully constructed Hitsville session - that for whatever reason this stunning array of talent failed to get a release. Before you today is the actual acetate from the session a genuine MOTOWN STUDIO cut crediting the session with H-467 mix dub # 1428 Remember this is UNIQUE not another copy known to exist! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 88.00 Ripples Only Time Will Tell C/w Cowboys To Girls Listen and weep. RARE Chicago sweet soul from the same label as the fabulous James Phelps record. Take time to listen to some real soul that stirs the emotions to the core. Swirling strings, heavenly harmonies cradle this lady, as the young girl pours her heart out onto the floor, you will find yourself wanting to run to her aid,as she opens her heart and delivers hopeless despair in wave after wave pleading. Then the masterstroke as the guy who has dome all the damage comes in and begs her apology… Now I’m begging for a spot at next SOUL ESSENCE in the “slit-your-wrists” lounge where I’d spin this, volume to the limit so the whole of Norwich could hear perfect soul music from the streets of Chicago. 22. i bought it in a box of 100+ all mint- motown it had syreeta and the bobby womack / so many sides of you p/s ( sold that for £100 ) AMONG OTHERS AND THE NUMBER 1000=TMG / KIM WESTON / MARVELETTES which i'm keeping. never thought much of the syreeta apart from it's rareness,
  23. i heard there were only 50 syreeta ever made making it probably the rarest ever uk motown , so for people who collect uk motown singles it's a must have isn't it. it only takes two people with a few bob to spot this and the price will take off, Joe. ps. i sold mine for £180 a few years back
  24. c Johnny Caswell You Don't Love Me Anymore C/w I.o.u. Seekers of the Northern Soul BLACK stock copy’s this is the ultimate prize if you desire the real classics! A true Wigan Casino anthem from the desk of Len Barry & team-mates Leon Huff, John Madara, David White & Jimmy Wisner. Leon Huff’s keyboard work & those memorable vibes transport us all back to the zenith of the Northern Soul scene as the unique intro signals a rush for dancefloor space. As good today as it ever was! But do not overlook the so far neglected flipside “I.O.U.” which epitomizes the music these guys were churning out in the mid-60s. Clever lyrics (courtesy of Len Barry) the instantly recognizable drumming of Bobby Greg, Joe Mack On Bass, Trade Martin & Vinnie Bell on Guitar, Artie Kaplin guides the latin influenced horns with Panama Francis adding extra percussion A sorely missed studio-team that gave the Northern Soul scene not only this classic listing but also Joey Heatherton, Bunny Sigler’s and all Len Barry’s Decca recordings… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 524.00
  25. Dane Hunter Too Late For fully 40 years London based Oriole Records furnished the British Record Collector with not only home-made local recordings but also releasing some of the finest material the USA had to offer notably Motown and the Brent/Time labels. Until their demise in late 1965 when CBS made the label defunct after a recent takeover. Towards the end of it’s life in 1965, Orioles all seem to have failed with promotion and consequently radio play. Check out this elusive PROMO a particularly rare one. A January UK produced MOD shaker written by Mort Schuman and Clive Westland it’s a feelgood stormer encapsulating the mood of the mid-60s completely; But tucked away on a flipside, it too passed unnoticed with little or no sales. Rare 1965 PROMO that we feel few of our UK completists will own and this head-turning DEMO copy is immaculate.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 35.00 Dynamic Five Lover's Lullabye C/w Sky Boat SWEET SOUL HEAVEN! One of those extremely elusive major label recordings you rarely see on PROMO and never see as the STOCK copy. This mysterious 1977 press gives up sublime Sweet Soul Harmony on the a-side, supported by solid Boogie dancer on the flip. The sweet side is led in by a cultured vocal soon to be joined a “cold as ice” falsetto all cradled by a blanket of strings and a lush harmony duvet rolled out te rest of the team. This is Sweet Soul at it’s most-lavish with stand-out vocals woven into a slick arrangement ! GORGEOUS STUFF! Flipside which you so rarely come across in a Norman Whitfield inspired funk infused dance tune, again utilizing an over-loaded string section that drives this uplifting session as the guys use all their finely-honed vocals in a dance production. Two great sides and one very tough 45 to find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 77.00 Rudy Ray Moore Real Gone Very elusive Los Angeles R&B dance rarity! Check out this down-right-dirty tune, perfectly suited to Rudy’s nicotine-coated growling, listen as the California bluesman rasps his way through this Nellie Lutcher song, made utterly compelling as Gus Anderson devises a production blend of saxophone & girl to compliment his gruff vocal-style. Unbridled saxophone with killer lone-break aided by a squealing girl-group chorus add the required ingredients to lift this session from a R&B dance groove, into a stand-out R&B shaker of the meanest kind! Rare and this copy is flawless MINT - Sorry, this item has already been won!
