Jimmy James A Man Like Me - Autographed! Instead of mags or flyers and the like for our memorabilia slot this week. We thought we could pay homage to two of these Isles great contributors to Soul. Before you is Jimmy James’s 1972 Northern Soul classic, fully autographed by Mr. James himself. So take time to listen the other soul great on this record, namely the writer/producer BIDDU; the Indian born producer who has delivered an avalanche of great songs careering towards the Northern Soul scene - little wonder BIDDU sits comfortably in the New Musical Express’s top 50 list of “Greatest Producers Ever” A classic NS tune in it’s rarest form, autographed and showcasing the talents of two greats that chose to make England their home. A unique and tempting diversion from 60s rare paper - which will return with a vengeance next week. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 43.00 Spellbinders Chain Reaction C/w For You The Spellbinders a legendary Northern Soul vocal-group produced by Van McCoy for sadly only 3 years. A gathering with a talent for both dance & sweet soul ballads. This 1966 British DEMO offers both styles. One of two CBS 45s release that unleashed this 4 man single lady group onto the 60s all-night club scene. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 70.00 Broomfield Corporate Jam Doin' It Our Way C/w Stop Ron Broomfield’s D.I.Y. Miami dance adventure may have disappointed the group with sales, but has since delighted the dancers of Rare Soul scene with it’s instant rush of sax, strings and sheering vocals. High energy Northern Soul that demands ya to get up! With so much going on it could easily out-punch a rich full-on CBS “Earth Wind and Fire” session. But this is street level rare soul with with a seemingly no expense spared approach that delivers potent late 70s dance soul at it’s most compelling. Flip it over and you get another equally convincing experience. Two great sides, one very elusive disc! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 265.00 Thee Midniters It'll Never Be Over For Me C/w Thee Midnite Feeling Not everyone will see the extreme attraction of this Los Angeles Garage band version of the Baby Washington / Timi Yuro Northern Soul classic but some will. Grungy, street-level take, riddled with attitude and defiance, Personally I love this controversial variation on lyrics that demand a “you not get the better of me” delivery. Different, compelling and utterly infectious, white-stuff that I found totally refreshing to hear again Garage fans will get off on the insane Fuzz guitar instrumental flipside that screams 60s young California on every gouge of the plectrum! Two great sides and arguably their rarest 45, I’ve certainly seen less of this title than the highly coveted “You’re Gonna Make Me Cry” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 111.00 -

Rufus Wood Before 2001 C/w Ghettoville Yes! The Original FIRST PRESS matt green label with BLUE TEXT. A hugely well received spin by the Cleethorpes Pier congregation at the height of “Cut Your Motor Off” Northern Soul era. Fitting perfectly into that punchy funkier anti-Motown style which was so hip 1975 to ‘77 that’s why all us blinkered fad-following DJ’s missed the NS masterpiece “Ghettoville” on the flip. It wasn’t really until Keb Darge (again) started to expose the flip within frantic uptempo “wreck the house” London sets, we all realized what we had missed. Rampant horn steered stomper of the highest calibre, a blend of Mirwood, James Brown, Memphis Horns dissected by a Texas nicotine worn vocal. AWESOME! how did we miss it? Well “Before 2001” was a MONSTER not too many records in those days offered up two MONSTERS on one disc.. Condition is blinding - you will not find a finer copy, filed and cherished since it was netted off a Soul Bowl list in 1976 - stated the non-DJing collector who reluctantly parted with it… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 813.00 Elaine Armstrong Sad But True C/w Precious Minutes (i Can Really Call Mine) WHAT A VOICE this lady has! The last time I had this record FUNK was not in vogue, but I think flares, stack sole two coloured shoes and Kipper Ties probably were.. I always loved this 1968 rarity as another outstandingly rare “Robert S. Riley” Deep Soul creation, which this “one record only” 21 year old turned into a masterclass of devotion as her guttural style is lifted by perfectly pitched horns; it’s a very impressive marriage of the human voice and brass, as both boom through my headphones in equal amounts. Flip it over and the funk recording I so carelessly dismissed decades ago, nearly bursts my eardrums! This lady is right up there with the King great Sister-voices as Ms Armstrong rides Charlie Spurling’s production like a veteran recording artist! Hitting notes Anderson, Whitney, Collins would have been proud of! So why only one record release~? It’s a mystery but whilst doing a little investigation I discovered as an 18 year old Elaine Armstrong made history by being one of just two African Americans to integrate into the previously “all white” University of Southern Mississippi. What a voice, what a loss to Soul Music this history-making girl’s singing career didn’t take off. Really tough tune to find - both sides are spectacular examples of their respective genres. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 261.00 Gloria Jones Come Go With Me Immaculate STEREO press. We think the soundfile will say it ALL! View the cover and label scans, they are just beautiful, Front cover show no sign of wear, the two labels are perfect. The back cover has a minuscule flake bottom left (see scan) Vinyl is utterly perfect.. So we’ll let this legendary Soul Diva / Northern Soul Queen let her singing do the rest…resist if you can. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 65.00 Darrell Banks Here To Stay RARE 1969 British STEREO press! A Northern Soul icon in the true sense of the word, Blues & Soul # 32 from April 1970 dedicated a full page to the sad passing through a shooting incident with a policeman, who was allegedly dating his girlfriend Marjorie Bozeman; February 24, 1970 witnessed a great loss to Soul Music. After just 4 years of recording, Darrell had risen to cult-status amongst the Soul fans of Britain. Before you today is his last of only two albums he recorded, this one steered by the skills of Detroiters Don Davis, Rudy Robinson and New Yorker Bert Keyes there to bolster the studio presence. The result is a lasting legacy to all involved, an 11 track testament to an artist who surely would have gone forward to even greater things with years of treating us to his masterly vocal style. Before you today is a Soul Collector’s essential - an immaculate 1969 UK press of his last recordings, Groovesville @ it’s best! “ Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 71.00 -
Groovettes Think It Over Baby C/w Ain't A Thing You Can Do About It This highly regarded serious rarity first came to light when I was privileged to buy from Ian Levine’s collection when he started to concentrate his time on producing new dance tunes..circa 1981? What a find! Maybe a little too raw and primitive for the Blackpool Mecca of the day but just perfect for Stafford’s “Top Of The World” and the cutting edge DJ’s of the time, when youngsters like Keb Darge were just breaking onto the scene with harder edged attitude-driven 60s Soul. Both sides written and produced by Billy Jackson, using his ”nom de plume” Ugene Dozier on the crediting. Billy crafts a unique backing track that just builds and builds as the lead vocalist plumbs the depths of sorrow, delivering a despairing performance throughout this quaking production. With typical Billy Jackson add-ons - full girl backing, startling sax breaks and steadily increasing the musical intensity to fever-pitch by the end! It sounds as good today as it did when me and Andy “Bustin’ Mindsweeper” Cox were stifling in the heat of summer, spending hours rummaging through Ian Levine’s loft of wall to wall vinyl… …what would I give to go back to that day, 25,000 obscure 45s with the likes of The Sonata’s on Hot Line also being snagged that day… for a fiver. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 876.00 Phantom Come Back To Me C/w Uh Huh, Ohyeah Northern Soul strolling at it’s finest! The controlled snarling of Sonny Craver snuggles nicely into a blanket of strings and chirping girl-group choruses. Meaningful lyrics are convincingly arrowed at his deserting girlfriend as he desperately pleads for her return, amidst rattling kettle drums as this Los Angeles Big City production swells. A gargantuan of a tune, and how splendid it is to hear it again after an absence of several years. Raw street-level funk fans may like the flipside generated by the talents of Los Angeles R&B master Cliff Chambers. Condition is an impeccable Mint - throughout. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 177.00 Smokey Robinson & The Miracles Going To A Go Go C/w Whole Lot Of Shaki' In My Heart + Yester Love A pristine 1973 UK PROMO complete with sales “pitch” letter. British Motown-holics - check out this PROMO set, with an EMI 120grm quality “buff” coloured sales letter, twice folded and exactly in the condition it was mailed out in.This is unusual, as most TMG promo’s from the office usually had a 7” x 7” letter pasted to the back sleeve. As the letter says this 3 track attempted to catch the Soul-club demand for two of The Miracles most-wanted dance tunes. Two perfect labels, vinyl perhaps unplayed until the sound file was lifted, close inspection just reveals sleeve contact over the 40 years, original birth sleeve intact and undamaged. Nice item for you many Motown completeists who’s work is never complete whilst little oddities like this keep turning up. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 85.00 Temptones Girl I Love You C/w Good-bye Darryl Hall and team strutting his admiration for the Temptations with this Northern Soul stomper inspired by the Motown vocal-group dance sound. Released on one of Northern Soul’s most-valued labels and one of Arctic’s most-elusive of 45s. Those “white boys” of Philly certainly knew how to sing SOUL every note, every vocal pitch sublimely woven into a perfect 60s dance arrangement. what ever it’s is about Arctic Records it must surely rank in every soul collectors Top Ten favourite labels, the two quirky Penguins signal there’s class in these productions, proven by many of it’s staff going on to craft what is now known as the “The Sound Of Philadelphia” and Darryl Hall of course pairing up with “the Masters” member John Oates to form the still soulful Hall & Oates duo that took the world by storm. With all that worldly success - still give me raw, street-level productions on independent labels every time! You don’t need me to remind you this 45 is class, but maybe yo do because I’ve not heard it played by any club DJ in a decade ad we’re predicting this maybe the best candidate on the block for a Northern Soul revival spin. Click the soundfile we’re positive you’ll agree a renaissance can only be just around the corner… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 330.00

Eddie Regan Playin' Hide And Seek In 2013 to acquire the real-deal Northern Soul classic in flawless condition, is the challenge many collectors are rising to. This Wigan Casino monster dancefloor favourite was “covered up” as John Madara - Play The Game Of Love - very apt as John Madara was involved in so many similarly uplifting Northern Soul productions. Once it was uncovered as Eddie Regan, it soon graced the turntables Cleethorpes Pier; instantly it’s popularity swept nationwide. This title of course featured in one of the most distasteful Northern Soul counterfeit scams when repro’s entered the UK in 1975 along with the Yum Yums on White ABC promo and listed as originals. Collectors got ripped off and to this day the repros of these two ABC promo classics are often passed off as originals. Before you is the authentic original with clean as a whistle run-out grooves (the counterfeits have pitted run-out grooves) in stunning “like new” condition. This listing is especially for OCD who seek as near perfection as you could eer hope for. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 221.00 Jackie Wilson It Only Happens When I Look At You There could be no bigger compliment for two British writers Ken Gold & Mickey Denne than to have their 1975 song picked up by two of the greatest Soul singers the world has ever known. Both Jackie Wilson & Aretha Franklin took this song and recorded killer versions to a level of Northern Soul perfection. This could well have been Jackie’s last studio recording as in September 1975 he suffered a heart attacked whilst on stage whilst singing “Lonely Teardrops” wisely UK Decca waited 20 months before releasing this outstanding performance, for a UK release. Before you today is 1977 UK Decca PROMO kit complete with an immaculate UK Brunswick DEMO, a beautifully written promo letter and full gloss original artist photo with Decca file sticker on the reverse quoting reference #14192. There is no USA release of this mighty single and to own it in this form is something very special, as Jackie was to lie in a coma for 9 years before his death in 1984. Whether it be Jackie Wilson, Aretha Franklin or the UK version on Magnet by The Majors - this is a great song - in this form a very important piece of Soul & Northern Soul history! Micky Deane & Ken Gold of course went on to a glittering writing career, no doubt rather pleased that 2 Soul giants recorded their non-hit song. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 110.00 Temptations Stay 1998 PROMO only 45 and undoubtedly the most-wanted Motown record of the moment. The Temptations team up with Narada Michael Walden in California and the Grammy Winner guides a five man line-up Otis Williams, Ronnie Tyson, Terry Weeks, Theopolis Peoples III, Harry McGilbery through this stunning session using their 1964 classic “My Girl” for inspiration, as the same dreamy pace is embroidered with highly skilled harmonies, strings and a compelling bassline driving the need to dance.. AWESOME! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 172.00

Ron Harrington It Happened To Me Again Just too much Soul for one man to take..! Echo chamber girl choir intro gives way to a declaration of despair, as Ron loses his love again, then the girls come back in like hovering Angels to deliver a chorus fitting for such a despairing atmosphere. The blend of simplistic instrumentation, a beseeching down-hearted lead vocal and the heavenly girl chorus goes straight to the soul. A Columbus, Ohio rarity underlines the outrageous quality that can be discovered within the street-industry of D.I.Y. productions,, this one distributed by McKenzie Records, Pa & Guitar rentals.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 291.00 Freddie North Oh Lord What Are You Doing To Me A spectacular Nashville version of the Big Maybelle New York classic which bled from the pens of Luther Dixon & & Bert Keyes. So enter Ted Jarrett’s right hand man the highly talented Robert S. Holmes to give it a Southern Soul slant that works divinely. A big-vocal Northern Soul stroller from the top-drawer, as Freddie’s rich vocal glides through a full orchestra arrangement of strings, vibes creating a wall of pleading soul. Lovers of the BEAT BALLAD, I can tell it’s hard as I sit hear with headphones firmly affixed, to think of a finer Northern Soul stroller than this beauty! Freddie’s rarest 45 on the label too.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 105.00 Quiet Fire Lost (without You Love) C/w Your Kind Of Love 1977 California 70s soulful dance, from a slick vocal-group gathering out of San Diego. Written and produced by Willie Steel who’s blaring brass intro falls away allowing the harmonies to change the pace and flow into a lush wave after wave blended vocals that will leave you in awe. Fine construction of interchanging falsetto, subtle bass, contralto and most other scale whisking around supported by potent trumpet interventions. Flip it over for an equally classy harmony jazz infused ballad Fabulous stuff presented on a rarely seen & utterly flawless White Demo! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 157.00 Roe-o-tation Special Catagory C/w Old Love Gone are the times when you could pick up records of this quality from the odd sales box or listing. Quality like this in conjunction with all the internet listening posts have shot up in value & demand! Two delicious Gerald Sims Chicago vocal-group grooves, that are now rising is demand on the back of recent turntable DJ action, after languishing in a few collections, only to get a verbal mention on bar stools, record tables as collectors muse over great tunes yet to become the monsters they so obviously should have done. A pair of upscale dancers that will have you wondering why you’ve not heard them blasting out of the club-speakers the last 3 or 4 decades…? Pure Quality on that is on the “up” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 69.00

Sam Cooke The Wonderful World Of Sam Cooke Ridiculously RARE 1966 UK press is astonishing condition. Easily this great artists rarest UK album on this most collectable label that had a penchant for black music, with many of it’s white rosta considering themselves “R&B” artists. This LP covers Sam Cooke’s roots in Gospel with The Soul Stirrers and songs written by Sam’s greatest influence R. H. Harris and The Gospel Paraders. RARE in the extreme and may stir a little interest with rock fans as Keith Richard, Mick Jagger, Eric Burdon, Georgie Fame, Roger Daltry, Goldie (of the Gingerbreads), Alan Freeman & Andrew Loog Oldham all contribute unique quotes for Sam Cooke and a life tragically cut short. Album vinyl is flawless, just revealing one light surface blemish on one side in strong light, retains original inner sleeve and as you can see both the front and back cover are flawless other than light age-browning to the back white areas. I can’t imagine encountering a finer copy of this rare “historical” album in my lifetime. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 80.00 Jr. Walker And The All Stars Soul Session 1966 UK Stereo press in blinding condition, near perfect vinyl, perfect labels, retains original inner sleeve, front and back cover as the scans reveal are flawless. An important album for both British Motown foragers and also Northern Soul DJ’s as it contains the highly popular “Good Rockin” which sets the pace for an explosion of screaming sax, with “Everybody Get Together” showcasing Junior’s wild-style of play with another crazy Northern Soul candidate. “Brainwasher” “Three Four Three” were all recorded under the stewardship of Harvey Fuqua. With the last track “Satan’s Blues” pulling Junior Walker into the studio with Berry Gordy & Lawrence Horn, which then sparked his career to take off with “Road Runner” and the rest is history. This example is the rarely seen STEREO copy, flip back cover…ad may we say again just FLAWLESS condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 66.00 Little Eddie Taylor I Had A Good Time C/w Forgive One Mistake It is rare to say “There’s a Classic Northern Soul 545 that has never been bootlegged in any form. There was an infamous “blank” press which hit the market circa ‘75 along with The Silhouettes - Not Me Baby, Subway Riders - After The Sesion, which considering the sheer gorgeousness of the respective labels of Goodway, Moon Shot & Peacock it must go down as the most miserly bootlegging excercise in the history of Northern Soul, little wonder I forgot about it….how could such gems with huge artistic labels be disrespected with with no attempt to replicate their beauty. But on the upside, it does make Peacocks most desirable Northern Soul offering even more enticing. Equally it’s very rare to say this copy is pristine - just check out that perfect soul-art label in flawless condition, looks like it was printed yesterday and the vinyl surface returns the compliment. I did on forensic inspection find a minuscule sleeve brush blemish on the flipside vinyl surface - which annoyingly prevented that coveted but rarely encountered truly-mint grade. “Classic” - some may ask, but this tune at Cleethorpes Pier was huge, not so much Wigan Casino but still a well received spin and we think you’ll hearing more of in the future. Potent Texas soul from the little man with the big voice! You will not find a finer copy - and how refreshing to hear it once again and find it still has all the “bollocks” it had the last time I had the pleasure! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 601.00 Leroy Barbour I Ain't Going Nowhere C/w Find Me Just the text on the label, crediting Philip Mitchell as the producer indicates quality soul 100% of the time. This Northern Soul crossover dancer is just that “pure quality” Leroy Barbour’s own composition offers you an uplifting vibe filled dancing delight - that has featured in such salubrious sets as Soul Sam’s, Arthur Fenn etc. for decades now without catching on nationwide, as the old story a great record’s popularity suffering from it’s own elusiveness. Just one hell of a tune, so sweet, so soulful and so darn elusive. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 327.00

Grand Prix's I See Her Pretty Face Hideously elusive, doo-wop influenced vocal group Detroit Northern Soul on a local label carrying a huge reputation for NS “trophy” rarities. Check out the sublime tapestry of male vocals, weaving an ever powerful blanket of sound that builds and builds on a wave of skilled harmony backing until at it’s peaks and the lead singer hits glass-shattering notes. Of it’s genre this is stand-out Northern Soul from the City that many consider the oasis of valuable soul 45s. Very seldom seen for sale, full potential has nowhere near been reached, begging the question, what price when one of the Big DJ’s drops the arm on it? Sorry, this item has already been won! Information and presentation is in a different class - mid-80s excellence, essential reading and referencing for the Soul Historian. I Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 81.00 B. B. King You Never Know C/w The Letter Continuing our listing of the rare British SUE 45s, that now seem to be on an ever increasing wish-list of British collectors. We think this 1965 release is a real toughie, our data reveals this is only our 2nd. copy for sale in the last 15 years and never in a fine grade of Mint - This gritty blues/R&B/Shaker showcases B.B.’s uninhibited stroking of “Lucille”, absolutely unparallelled guitar playing, overshadowes B. B. King’s mighty vocal delivery which on this 45 is outrageously potent. A B. B. King & Joe Josea collaboration released in the USA on Kent 391 in 1964 this too is quite elusive. Flip it over for archetypical B.B.blues… Two great sides in It’s rarest form, and boasting sublime condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 81.00

James Bell And The Highlighters Band The Love Of My Girl C/w Trying To Get Chosen RARE Indianapolis Soul from the man who gave the Rare Soul scene full three great and collectable 45s. This example in our experience is the rarest offering two precisely constructed vocal-group soul grooves. Topside is currently causing vinyl-anchoring as awareness grows for it’s much bigger Northern Soul potential; flipside is a street-level harmony ballad f the highest order Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 365.00 Lee Rogers Love And War C/w How Are You Fixed For Love Lee’s very first and certainly his rarest 45 on this iconic Detroit label. A most attractive label that seemed dedicated to a full-on Soul-Dance sound, invariably steered towards explosive levels by Mike Hanks. Mike is joined on this session by McKinley Jackson & William Garrett to carve out a rumbling runaway juggernaut of Northern Soul that destroys all in it’s wake. Bellowing brass fights for space with Lee’s angry vocal as the lyrics get drenched with angst and attitude, with frantic shrieking girls igniting Motor City frenzy. Flip it over and the pace n’power does not recede in the slightest, as Lee is off again on a hazardous journey of breakneck Northern Soul with all the same ingredients shook up into another floor-destroyer. note ” How Are you Fixed For Love” was issued three times by Wheelville - this is the first original press - “Love and War” was issued once.. and it’s by far the hardest Lee Rogers NS record on the label… it’s time this weighty tune had it’s day. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 195.00 Tracy La'vett And The Rufus Cannon Combo In My Great Big Lonely Room C/w Love For A Life Time Smooth groove in the same frame of Jackie Ross, Nella Dodds, Barbara Mason, Delores Howard etc. The Princess of the sultry mid-tempo soulful stroller ideally supported by a strong male vocal group chorus. BOTH sides of this obscurity offer those qualities in abundance, two 60s soulful Northern Soul steppers saturated in that bewitching chemistry coming to life when the catalyst of the male harmony is added. Check the sound file, view the mysterious label (origin unknown) and you’ll agree for it’s much-loved Mary wells copyists genre - this is one charismatic 45. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 213.00 Foundations Change My Life C/w Closer To Loving You RARE 1978 UK DEMO A English only release which Bill Connor and Simon Cohen decide to hide a great British soulful group dancer on the flip-side of a Boogie groove. Little wonder this passed by everyone at the time… Before you today is the extremely rare date-stamped “A” adorned DEMO copy. Take a listen to an ear-catching gravel coated lead vocal growl his way through this a subtle vibe & guitar driven dance production. a British groove that sounds so very American in it’s make-up, which is why this has been in recent times a very popular DJ choice. If you like upbeat disco inspired Boogie the flipside will appeal too… But what will appeal to all collectors, is the fact this is the extremely obscure PROMO copy - in fact the very first copy we’ve had for sale this century! Condition is so very near PERFECT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 72.00 -

There are not many records we can definitely say we have never-ever had in stock before. This D.I.Y. release from vocal group “Crystal Clear” is an all-time first for John Manship Records. Check out the delicious-double soundfile and soak in what are two uniquely constructed Sweet Soul ballads that I personally have no comparisons for. Skilfully constructed by Lee Magee both sessions deliver soul in an unusual arrangements. Listen and consider you may never see this 45 listed again. RARE - Very Rare! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 171.00 Samantha Jones Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine 1967 flawless DEMO copy still residing in it’s birth-sleeve. A Northern Soul monster of it’s of it’s time, a Wigan Casino and Cleethorpes Pier dancers favourite, so much so the inferior 1973 Pye version by the Playthings also receive huge Wigan Casino exposure, presumably as this rare original version was not available to the Jock. It’s “Northern Soul Classic” status was underlined, when the 1979 “Wigan” Casino Classics Label released the limp “Playthings” version. It original is rare, it is so very elusive.. and wearing the green and white DEMO clothes ….it is totally gorgeous… PS Condition could not be finer! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 161.00 Soul Sisters Good Time Tonight How many I wonder TWISTED WHEEL anthem started they’re lives as a flipside. What a testament to those 60’s Soul Pioneers who rummaged away through all manner of 45s searching for that elusive style of sound that would maybe set a dancefloor alight! This Smokey McAllister composition was relegated to the B-side in favour of a rather ordinary girl-group ballad. Underlining how out of touch record companies were, as to what the record-buying teenagers of the day wanted. Someone somewhere foundit, flipped it and the rest was history - a Twisted Wheel anthem was born; later receiving the national seal-of-approval by being bootlegged on the notorious “Soul Sounds” label. Before today is the ultimate way of owning this 1965 rip-roaring classic, the head-turning 1965 British Yellow London DEMO! in utterly faultless condition! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 112.00 -
Ralph Graham She Just Sits There C/w You Had To Hurt Someone Ralph’s Graham first record which he was obviously proud of as he sent this copy to an associate signed Best Wishes Ralph Graham (see scan) This rarely seen double helping of classy Northern Soul was a huge tune in the 90s, then to lay almost dormant as it’s rarity dictated the masses hearing it less and less as the few copies known slowly but surely gain entry into the most prestigious collections. Then like magic it got a localised resurgence when the equally as fine flip-side broke surface on some of the more adventurous DJ sets. Today, we think BOTH tunes are fully worthy of a Northern Soul renaissance, as this 45 is as rare as it’s ever been.. and to my ears sounds much better than it ever has.. Dead-right for today’s dance-floor preferences. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 606.00 Flash Mckinley Which Way Did She Go + 3 A WORLD ONE OFF! You are viewing something unique and very special indeed. The soundfile unleashes 4 tracks from Bombay recording session, 2 released but stupidly rare - two unissued and ridiculously good.. Even though this acetate has his highly prized “I’ll Rescue You” and it’s Bombay release flipside, the delicious Latin flavoured R&B masterpiece “Millie” “Which Way Did She Go” - sits in a class of it’s own. What ever the Bombay guys did in the studio, they replicated the most haunting “echo” effect on those wailing girls I’ve ever heard in a record. Bongo’s kick it off, twangy guitar purrs away, then Flash’s takes off on a magic carpet of girl-group utopia. Pounding beat hammers away in the background as Flash’s vocal-inquisition jerks and twists through a maze of bongo’s, unparallelled haunting girls - this record is something else! If that’s not enough for you to rush to sell your soul - listen to the other 3 tracks in the session.. Personally I’m totally blown away.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,537.00 Porgy And The Monarchs That Girl C/w If It's For Real Baby Teddy Randazzo the uncrowned Prince of the Big City sound - his Razzle Dazzle production team were a music factory of unparallelled proportions whilst considering full orchestral production soul! This example we think showcases the man’s diverse talent for the Beat Ballad and for the Northern Soul upbeat dance production. Top side is an exhilarating dancer with full girl choir supporting the jerky, feel-good arrangement as it belts along at Northern Soul back-drop pace then this genius adds horns & strings at just the right moment sealing proper Northern Soul! So switch sides and experience a different style that never fails but to blow me away! John Parks joins Teddy Randazzo writing meaningful lyrics to embroider a precisely constructed strolling production. Randazzo again uses girls to great affect, banks of strings, distance horns, prominent piano prods away building the atmosphere with Porgy’s beseeching vocal putting the icing on this avalanche of soul. PERFECT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 210.00 David Ruffin My Whole World Ended Motown collectors worldwide are renowned for being neurotic about record conditions; who can blame them when you collect one particular genre - the aim has got to be to strive for perfection. So we thought this STILL SEALED David Ruffin album would please, as MOTOWN album still factory sealed are rare no mater what decade. This 1969 12 track expose of the Temptations most notorious member, with David in iconic pose is not just a pretty-picture. The tracks include full 8 cuts NOT issued as 45s. Our sound-filed example reveals killer non-45 Northern Soul candidates, including the fabulous “Somebody Stole My Dream” 44 years old - and still sealed, minuscule drill hole in cover very bottom right is the only flaw and it’s so hard to detect. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 94.00

Oracles I Ain't Got Time C/w Love In My Heart A twofold helping of Los Angeles vocal-group Northern Soul from the pen of Bobby Mandolph, the man who provided Northern Soul with that wonderful record on Vault. This time Bobby teams up with Miles Grayson fabricating two proper tunes for the NS Turntable. Topside has for years now been considered a rare stomping trophy that has maybe suffered a little at the expense of it’s own rarity, as only the elite DJ’s ever seemed to owned a copy. Today I’m really dazzled by the flip, which is down a pace but carries equally class and draw to it’s big-brother “A” side. The mystery group show off their seamless harmonizing bolstered by a piano driving this stroller to greatness, i really do like this overlooked side. Two sides to chose from, both giving up exactly what the scene feeds upon, RARITY offering far too much quality for one disc. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 713.00 Othello Robertson So In Luv Fantastic Oakland, California Northern Soul from the desk of Eddie Foster & Dell Randle. A Northern Soul dancer that first saw the light of day on the mythical BABY LUV label - so rarely seen, that this Los Angeles variation is the only realistic way of capturing this stunning piece of Soul-Sister Bay Area Soul. This 1967 Era PROMO is in flawless near new condition, enjoying it original company sleeve and two perfect labels. Looks beautiful doesn’t it..but not as beautiful as Othello’s individualistic vocal style. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 251.00 Alex Brown I'm Not Responsible Monk Higgins during the 60s forged a huge reputation for the “Full-On Kitchen Sink” production through his “Special Agent” sessions. With outstanding recordings with Johnny Sayles, Mamie Galore etc. During the early seventies his long association with Alex Brown produced this by comparison “mellowed-down” soulful dancer, that has graced the turntables of discerning venues like “Soul Essence” “Just Soul” “The Orwell” etc. for years. Now rightly considered a Top-Drawer example of the Northern Soul crossover genre. This seldom seen PROMO copy has two flawless labels & vinyl to match. Click the sound-file and enjoy Monk Higgins’s studio skills guiding a Sister with the voice of an Angel. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 597.00 -

Kim Weston A Little More Love C/w Go Ahead And Laugh Kim’s debut British single released after her stunning performance singing it live on Ready, Steady, Go. Too make this 45 even more desirable USA Motown immediately withdrew it’s TAMLA 54106 replacing it with “I’m Still Loving You” 4 releases later, making TAMLA 54106 one of the very rarest 45s. The winning bid was £ 121.00 Irma Thomas Time Is On My Side C/w Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (will Understand) Starting life as a B-side but rising up as a New Orleans Soul Hymn, covered by the likes of The Rolling Stones who issued the 45 in the USA but not England. Over the years adverts, Movies and TV have elevated this record to the unusual status of “Never A Hit” but everyone has heard of it. Norman Meade & Jimmy Norman’s lyrics carry a message will all can relate to, and no artist delivers the message better than the Queen Of New Orleans! To own this timeless piece as the rare Red & White UK DEMO in flawless condition - will be most satisfying. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 68.00 Jackie Edwards Put Your Tears Away The genius that was Jackie Edwards! Jackie was one of the great contributor to the Britain 60s music scene and ultimately both the Soul & Reggae scene were so much richer for this man’s writing and singing talents. Not to mention him gifting Spencer Davis Group with some of their biggest hits. This elusive UK album displays Wilfred Jackie Edwards gifts perfectly. Check out the sound-file samples which includes his great Northern Soul offering “I Feel So Bad” .. but even then you’ll be left wondering two things. why wasn’t “Put You Tears Away” released as a single in the UK and why hasn’t “Put Your Tears Away” been blasted out from every Northern Soul turntable in the land for the last 40 years. In Britain a LP track only and an entirely exhilarating example of Jamaican inspired Soul as are the all the other tracks. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 99.00 Miracles The Fabulous 1964 UK press is eye popping condition. Twisted Wheel Mail Shot January 13th. 1970 Members Mail Shot Northern Soul Time capsule material! TWISTED WHEEL members mail shot. A piece of Northern Soul history in perfect condition. Ready for framing or filing away in your poly folders for future prosperity. This package is in the same condition at the day it was mail in Manchester January 13th. 1970. We think the 3 pics say much more than we ever could. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 104.00 Nancy Ames I Don't Want To Talk About It First played by Colin Curtis at the Blackpool Mecca after Leicestershire vinyl-sleuth Chris “George Blackwell” Frost took his discovery up the M6. This igniting a massive hunt of Record Shops, Market Stalls and junk shops nationwide, but hardly a copy was found over the next decades as this 1966 UK release is a genuine serious British rarity. Not reviewed by “Home Of The Blues” or any other “soul” fanzine of the era, obscured on a flipside and missed by all. Only the Record Shops that ordered everything off the Friday release sheets would have it. And I do know one crate- digging NS vinyl-pioneer actually got a copy from Ainley’s Records of Leicester the Monday after it debuted at the Mecca. Because the Blackpool Mecca play copy was astonishingly the English release!! This recording did however reach the heights of Northern Soul classic status on the back of the steady trickle of the USA Epic coming into the country. To this day, this Rose Marie McCoy & Hal Miller collaboration on 1966 UK release copy is ridiculously RARE, holding a near mint copy after many, many baron years - has actually given me an urge to collect British Northern Soul again, there is an indefinable magic of having records of this calibre in your presence. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 166.00 Danny Owens You're A Little Too Late Currently one of the most-wanted R&B Northern Soul dancers on the circuit. A totally infectious New Orleans dancer written by the artist himself - it’s far cry from his Manhattan recording, but you will find this earlier 45 trigger a frantic dancefloor reaction as it’s addictive qualities are getting more and more dancers hooked. This copy is a beautiful WHITE PROMO inside it’s company sleeve with two flaw free labels and neat tidy vinyl. Do not pass this tune by, it is growing in value as you read. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 387.00 Soul Communicators Those Lonely Nights C/w Please Don't Go MINT you will not locate a finer copy, perhaps ever! comes with it’s original “birth” sleeve (see scan background). Chuck Corby Pittsburgh’s greatest living soul-legend with his finest recording and a long standing classic within the Northern Soul circuit for decades. So much so it is most-difficult to find a copy which hasn’t endured the rigors of several owner DJ’s and constant stylus encounters. This copy is SO MINT it still retains it’s original birth sleeve, and most likely was UNPLAYED until it’s listing! We repeat, you will not locate a finer copy… Sorry, this item has already been won! Cavaliers Do What I Want C/w Tighten Up SHRINE TIME! Simply one of the very hardest to acquire! Rare in the extreme with less than 4 in known collections and none in condition to be describe better than vg+ This copy has you can see has light ridge wear to the label but no writing or tears. Vinyl has surface marks but plays well, listen to the two sound-files lifted directly off this disc. So listen to the familiar gathering of Keni Lewis, Harry Bass, Carl Kidd & Dale Warren craft TWO insanely potent vocal group dance tunes. With both sides offering upbeat Northern Soul on the world’s most collectable label - all you need to consider is when being confronted with an artifact of this calibre, is when if ever will you see another one, as this is without question Rare Soul Collecting at it’s most demanding. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 6,995.00 Jaggers No Time For You C/w Whispers Audio Recordings, Cleveland, Ohio covering TWO unissued takes on two Northern Soul songs, that became a huge exclusive play for Guy Hennigan in the early 80s, for some reason covered/up as Phil Terrell - “Long Time Girl”. Check out this aspiring soul band The Jaggers serve you with a killer take on Dan Henderson’s San Antonio composition. Such a great song, as well as The Commands, the O’Jays covered it for it also. It became not only a huge tune Northern Soul favourite, but a Carolinas Beach Music and The Pittsburgh scene too. This is the first time this mysterious and unique acetate has come to market in all of 30 years; with the added bonus of a strong version of Jackie Wilson’s “Whispers” on the flipside, we’d advise this is not an opportunity to miss… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 699.00 Soul Clinic So Sharp C/w No One Loves Me Anymore RARE 1968 version of sadly murdered Arlester Christian’s funk groove that Dyke & the Blazers first recorded. This Baltimore conceived session on the highly regarded Bay Sound label, is a mighty take, delivering potent late 60s FUNK driven by a multitude of horns prompting a screaming JB style lead vocal. But this 45 has much more to offer, when you flip it over The Soul Clinic serve you with more big-horns, this time melted down to an atmospheric compliment to a whirling hammond, as the arrangement provides the raft for a fine lead vocal to plead his sad position. A pace above Deep Soul, this tune fits nicely into early-doors Northern Soul shuffler or ideally ready for someone Soul Radio Show bragging rights..as most everyone has missed hearing this hidden gem. Two strong sides, one very elusive disc. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 100.00 Judy Street What Some records will last longer than our lifetimes, to be documented firmly into history as one of the classic sounds of the music phenomena that was Northern Soul. Before you today is a Wigan Casino hymn that will still be considered as one of the most enduring classics of the scene long after we’re all gone. You cannot hear this record and not instantly think of Wigan Casino or the 1977 “This England” TV documentary covering this iconic Club at it’s height. So if your gonna collect the important NS classic, try to acquire them in the finest condition possible. We are pleased today to say this copy has come directly from California, a file copy that appears to have been unplayed. In 2013 where are you gonna find a perfect copy of this 47 year old classic? Contours Just A Little Misunderstanding C/w Determination Home Of The Blues - July 1966 said the A-side was an inferior dance tune to the one EMI left on the “B”. How correct they were from the moment “Understanding” hit the round-steels of “The Wheel” a timeless monster was born! It must be 47 years since this majestic moment in Motown history debuted in England, and still when those simple but genius Earl Van Dyke piano-prods hit your ears, it’s off to the dancefloor we go. I love this every note as much as I did when I was 16 - and so does everyone else! Before you today is the rare original Tamla Motown 1966 TMG564 that sold very little upon release, as the A-side is a only shadow the future-classic. EMI did put things right 4 years and 150 releases later when club demand could no longer be ignored. Sorry, this item has already been won! More Soul collectors are confused on the authenticity of this Northern Soul 45 than most-any other, for two reasons. Firstly this 45 was either re-issued, counterfeited & bootlegged on four different occasions - and the ORIGINAL first press is so rare! Simple to distinguish the real-deal original just by the label design. Right hand producer, arranger credits, publisher, label number & running time all the text is in line (on the re-issue it is staggered. GEMNI MUSIC Co. address at the bottom of the label has a lower-case “o” in the Co. On the re-issue it reads CO. is all in upper case. this extremely elusive Northern Soul Catacombs anthem is a magnificent Mint - in every respect. Sorry, this item has already been won!
