  7. just ended on £255, about right for this one i guess,
  8. STILL WELL WORTH HAVING IN THAT CONDITION AS LONG AS IT PLAYS IMO, YOU CAN'T PLAY THE LABELS ANYWAY, JOE.
  9. Little Johnny Hamilton & The Creators Oh How I Love You I love stories - the most-precious ones are of course “Record Stories” this listing carries with it a very interesting one. You are not only viewing a rare NS classic-floor-destoyer, you are also observing an UNPLAYED utterly MINT copy that started life on the selves of Charlie “Flash” Reynolds Los Angeles premier 50’s and 60s chain of Record Shops “FLASH RECORDS” on South Central, Los Angeles. The 45 crammed shelves “Flash” were partitioned with a typed name card filing tag to the sleeve, attached by cellotape. (see scan 3) Yes this still even retains the 1966 tagging and original sleeve, adding unequaled provenance to the listing. it is not possible to find a finer copy, this offering will remain unplayed, still wearing that company induced gossamer coating that protected the playing surface. Vinyl-neurotics, OCD afflicted collectors, condition obsessives you all can be totally assured this baby has been cocooned for 47 years… and is perfect in every way. PS this record sold virtually nothing, but Johnny & his Creators did not have to wait long for recognition - as they evolved in the “Low Rider” boys of “WAR”. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00 Wirrina Stadium 1975 All-nighter Wirrina Stadium Peterborough Nighter Poster Genuine 1975 14” by 20” poster, ready for framing to hang on your Record Room wall. On that Friday Night of 18th. April 1975 there was a very distinguished DJ gathering. “PEP” the former top Catacombs Jock, “Soul Sam” a founding Father of Northern Soul, “Tony Dellar” one of my all-time favourite NS Jocks and lifelong custodian of the famous Howard Mallet Club, Cambridge. Jona & Spena were two young local lads who would grow into taking the scene by a storm during the 80’s as Gary Spencer & Steve Jones. With help from Andy “Smudge” Smith & Johnny Carroll two highly respected DJ in their own right. Plus DJing promoters Pete & Dave Mindham who organized the legendary EAST ANGLIA SOUL CLUB before Ken Cox of Stamford copyrighted the name and the “Mindham Boys” having to reinvent themselves into rising from the ashes “PHOENIX SOUL CLUB”. Historical, simplistic but irresistible insight in the Northern Soul scene at it’s peak.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 48.00 Patrice & Brenda Holloway Bah, Bah, Bah How often do you get a chance to own a coupling of super-soul-sisters Patrice & Brenda Holloway singing a duet? What a stunning set from JOBETTE MUSIC that will surely cause interest with the Motown enthusiasts & girl vocalist fans. 1968 demonstration disc accompanied by the song sheet of Patrice & Brenda Holloway’s composition, which The Supremes cut for the “Reflections” album & Mowest’s Suzie Ikeda as a 45 plus Barbara Randolf on her recently mastered “unissued” CD comp. There is so much to love about this offering, even though it is not classic style Motown dance or Northern Soul; the involvement of these two Los Angeles Soul-Angels carries so much weight for those serious about Motown or those members in the huge silent-appreciation-society of Brenda Holloway & Patrice’s life & work. Condition is superb, retains original company sleeve, double song sheet and all the Provence serious collections seek. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 161.00 Bobby Sheen Dr. Love C/w Sweet Sweet Love A gleaming British 1966 “Discotheque ‘66 Series” Red & White DEMO! A double serving of 1966 Los Angeles Northern Soul, with the topside offering Gene Page’s reworking of The Whispers - Dore delight. A record that became a TWISTED WHEEL anthem and a Mr. M’s of Wigan Casino favourite. But today it’s the flipside that is making all the Northern Soul noise. Clydie King’s mentors Jerry Riopelle and Nick de Caro craft totally lush lyrics for Gene Page and Al De Lory to arranged and enrich into a recording way before it’s time creating consummate mid-tempo Northern Soul crossover you’d swear was recorded in 1970. A 45 so much more than a “Pretty Face” rare in the extreme, in this format it’s the ultimate UK collector’s prize. Click the soundfile to first enjoy NS History then to be blow away by B-side brilliance, that is starting to creep into some very illustrious DJ sets.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 311.00
  10. John And The Wierdest No Time C/w Can't Get Over These Memories Do records of this pedigree require any embellishments from us… We think not.. Click the soundfile and start planning how your gonna capture this endangered masterpiece. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,916.00 Jades I'm Where It's At C/w Mother's Only Daughter Time for euphoric Northern Soul recall, click the soundfile to be catapulted back-in-time to 1975 Your jaw is loose, peering in amazement from the Wigan Casino balcony - onto the sea of hand-clapping, back dropping enthusiasts reaching the very crest of their dancing abilities as this unparalleled production explodes into PURE NORTHERN SOUL! An anthem that evokes visions of those halcyon days.. I’m sure a few of the die hard vocal group fans will enjoy the harmony ballad flipside too… but it will always be the insane-runaway-truck rhythm the “A” provides that will live with the NS faithful forever. As you can see BOTH labels are flawless - vinyl has a few light surface marks from a sleeveless past but it plays so very well. Plus unlike us reading this review, this disc has never met a Northern Soul collector or DJ before.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 664.00 Lou Lawton Knick Knack Patty Wack This rare 1968 Promo copy, a NS club favourite, made us think when our file data revealed we have not listed it for over 5 years! We are all aware that some of this most-collectable label’s releases are pretty darn hard to secure. Writer, producer Paul Vance was a man who knew how to construct a catchy unforgettable lyric 8 years early he had a worldwide hit with the outrageous “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” This record though is completely a different animal, as Mr. Vance constructs a thumping dancefloor-destroyer, the relentless pumping arrangement is total “get ‘em up” Northern Soul.. Please scrutinize the soundfile, as the silent run-in has light background interference whilst the recording itself is a punchy full-on experience. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 411.00 Little Willie John I'm Shakin' C/w Cottage For Sale The ORIGINAL 1960 first release and first mix! An utterly addictive mellow Northern Soul stroller that creeps right under your skin and into your head; an ear-worm of immense charm. This 45 was his finest Northern Soul offering but you must check out all this wasted talent’s work, without exception brimming with angst and tortured emotion. A gifted but impetuous artist who sadly died at the tender age of 30 in prison.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 136.00
  11. Captions Turn Out The Lights C/w Nicotine Scene Currently a much-talked about tune, as the Otis Jackson version is at last starting to get long overdue NS DJ time, the old-school collectors are now asking “Hey What About The Other Much Rarer” original version of the song. Well here it is, a near perfect copy for all to view, hear and enjoy urban Los Angeles vocal group Northern Soul in it’s most dreamy form. An oddly eerie atmospheric groove that you’ll find infectious in the extreme. Plus if you’re in the slightest attracted to Northern Soul Exotica the vocal group b-side is so off-the-wall it’s just down-right essential! Two fab vocal-group experiences that rarely, if ever appear on the market - especially in this eye-poppin’ condition Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 305.00 Screamin' Jay Hawkins I Hear Voices C/w Just Don't Care an immaculate 1965 UK SUE Guy Stevens passion for R&B again prompts a UK Sue release that would have not enjoyed a British outing if it was not for this black-music-curious pioneer. A 1962 USA Enrica 1010 release that would otherwise have been “lost” to the British public. Top side is a “signature” snarling ballad with the outrageous Screamin’ Jay rein-acting the “I Put A Spell On you” theme. But turn it over for a fabulous Northern Soul style R&B dancer that lay hidden on the flip. The growing band of British SUE addicts will of course note the essential company sleeve but also may we point to it’s inconceivable Mint - throughout condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 80.00 Fire Flight To Cuba C/w Soul On Ice Highly sought-after East Bay FUNK in pristine previously unplayed condition. Conceived just across the Haywood Bridge Bay from the SFO airport, “Flight To Cuba” takes off when the jazzy bongo and flute intro collides with attitude-blown horns, blaring over the top of an incessant saxophone prompting proceedings, a dancefloor pumping bass guitar break, followed by a killer hammond solo leaving you a gasp at what instrumental will follow next - this is a “Kitchen-Sink” hunk of funk of the highest calibre, full of surprises and energy. Flip it over for a ferocious vocal propelled funk showing off the same potent instrumentation. Two provocative funkers in totally perfect.. never to be witnessed again condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 372.00 Skull Snaps My Hang Up Is You C/w It's A New Day In 1973 the highly regarded soul-studio magicians Geoge Kerr and Bert Keyes guided two members from the “Diplomats” with an addition of Georgie Bragg; Ervan Walters & Samuel Culley formed the basis for the new sound of New York FUNK! An outrageously powerful combination spawned a legendary album and 4 singles over a near 3 year period. Before you today is their only British release offering fine funky-fused Northern Soul that received constant plays throughout the the mid-70s at all the major NS clubs of the day. Volume up loud, zippy harps, solid strings and a relentless dance beat is bedecked with 3 mature snarling vocals. This was then and still is now, all-nighter fodder for the dancers to get lost in. In more recent times the Deep Funk scene has embraced the solid Funker on the flip side, with the dumbed-down a arrangement dominated by the bass guitar rhythms and bongo/tambourine breaks - proper FUNK. Today I consider the A-side something of a “vanished” masterpiece that under-scores the immense talent George Kerr & Bert Keyes were blessed with, and the good ear, when they decided old-soul-boys would do the vocals the best. Awesome memories of Cleethorpes come flooding back with this one.. 1973 British PROMO copy is perhaps the best looking 40 year in the UK today..like new in every way and still wrapped up it it’s original birth sleeve. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 209.00
  12. Pee Wee, Shuck And Huey Beside Myself (you're All I Got) C/w I Know We're In Love The summer of 1968 Louis Hollingsworth & the prolific Miles Grayson collaborated to craft a rare-soul double-delight, an ultra-rare slab of Northern Soul backed with a delicious harmony group ballad. Both sides ripple with individuality as the high pitched lead embroiders both sides with a level of character seldom heard. The raw but soothing harmony backing enriching the jerky dance production which is littered with impressive instrumental breaks, piano, horns and drums taking it in turns to whip up the storm inside this frantic mover. Flip it over, sweet-soul-harmony fans will be quivering as the pace drops into a sorrowful ballad, with all the same ingredients pitched-down to melt into a sumptuous ballad. Two soul-killers on one insanely elusive disc! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,025.00 Willie Mitchell Willie Mitchell's Driving Beat original 1966 Memphis MONO press. This album above all others spits out the “Memphis Sound” that shocked, inspired and drove British Soul dancers to all-night clubs all over Britain. Let’s face it nobody, but nobody in 1966 could produce Soul-potency to compare with “That Driving Beat” or “Everything’s Is Gonna Be Alright” they were as big a dancefloor-detonators in 1966 and they still are today. PURE NORTHERN SOUL but then came high-profile Wigan Casino DJ John Vincent who in the early 70s picked out and endorsed the non-45 track “The Champion” the rest is history the track became an unstoppable NS Monster. With the Album & the mini EP changing hands for relatively huge sums. In stepped UK Decca and saved everyone’s budgets to release it in the hot summer of 1976. Today “The Champion’s part 1 or 2” has the capacity to super-charge a dull evening into a floorshaking goodtime. But take note other than the unparallelled menu of 60s dance . This album has pristine vinyl, retains original HI advertizing inner sleeve and a flawless thick card cover, who’s only flaw is very minor wear to the spine. Click the soundfile to witness the “Driving Beat” of Willie Mitchell. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 174.00 Double O's Demingo's Color One Tear Black Part 2 & Part 1 New breed soulful dance from the top-drawer, now at last breaking huge after many years of love and attention from premier collector & DJ Steve Guarnori. I’ve always thought a part 2 should be a re-gigging of part 1 instead of an extension.. Bill Smith does an inspired job on taking the a-side harmony ballad and elevating into a slick soulful dancer utilizing all those finely tuned harmony vocals into a sexy-sax driven arrangement. This is SOUL ESSENCE and currently so very wanted… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 776.00 Baby Earl & The Trini-dads Back Slop I hope your club’s dancefloor is solid and big enough to accommodate the reaction this truly mad instrumental sparks up when the needle drops. Huge tune for the likes of Sean Chapman, a man who consistently puts together captivating sets full of different and notable tunes and this baby is certainly different. From the desk of the Frank Guida, Norfolk Virginia producer who served up copious amounts of great music during the 60s & 70s.. even for this gifted writer/producer this is an extraordinary instrumental and a guaranteed floorpacker! Light surface marks to as you can hear, this seldom-seen disc plays superbly! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 122.00

  16. Barbara Lewis Snap Your Fingers Who could ever forget this ladies sensational stage presence at 2006 Cleethoprpes Weekender, as we all stood agog, as we soaked up this Diva’s charisma. I’m not ashamed to admit it and hope the guy standing next to me will come forward and confess, as at least two grown men shed tears in the presence of a masterclass in Sister-Soul. Before you today is the incredibly elusive 1965 British 4 track EP with cover - as you can see and hear this beautiful offering is utterly flawless. So listen to this 21 year old Detroit songbird glide through 4 scintillating Ollie Mclaughlin sessions showcasing her Angel-like voice. Check out the cover, just like Barbara herself not a wrinkle in sight, labels are perfection, vinyl only reveals a light blemish or two in strong light. This is a tribute to one of the greatest live acts I’ve ever witnessed and a lasting testament to this talented Motor City artist who’s writing talents equaled her heartbreaking voice. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 83.00 Roger Hatcher Sweetest Girl In The World C/w I'm Gonna Dedicate My Song To You MINT unplayed!! IMHO one of the greatest mid-paced rare soul delights ever made. Dripping with a soulful-hunger you really hear in a dance record. Mr. Hatcher pleads n’ clawls his way to proclaiming the lady the “Sweetest Girl In The World “; his beseeching vocal style never wavering from it’s on-your-knees course to convince! ..but also offering a flipside of equally immense soulful qualities as again Roger Hatcher shows off his easing flowing but painfully appealing vocal style. YES, this PROMO copy is MINT unplayed! Soundfile lifted from a previous listing so the new owner can enjoy virgin vinyl.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 341.00 Bobby Hebb You Want To Change Me In 1968 the British public were totally unaware of the geniuses that were about to burst onto soul-music-scene and become only the 2nd team to have a “sound” named after them. Mirroring the MOTOWN SOUND “The Sound Of Philadelphia” would take the early 70s world by a storm. In 1968 the names Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff were overshadowed by their Detroit counterparts, but we think this 45 showcases the potential that was simmering away, the fluid easy flow of their productions, just like Motown embellished with thoughtful “storyline lyrics”. So here is a much-loved Gamble & Huff offering to Northern Soul, arranged by the prolific Richie Rome that has stood the test of time, still signalling a rush to the dance-floor whenever played today. There are many desirable collectable factors attached to this RARE 1968 UK press. The USA press a little commoner but notorious for it’s poor styrene fidelity although you can acquire a copy that plays OK they seemed to deteriorate with play. Sound is empty, hissy and generally poor. So enter this “as new” condition copy press in high-fidelity durable vinyl with a richness of sound the USA press can get nowhere near to. Still retains it’s original birth sleeve - and we are confident in saying “you will not ever see a finer copy” - well we certainly don’t expect to.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 116.00
  17. Ronny Douglas You'll Come Back Al McCarther fans here’s another gem to consider.. Currently in my top ten favourite tunes - a solid resident in my DJ box and a firm candidate for the last record of the set. Listen and see if you adore this style as much as I do - this is BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN What a voice.. cradle by a full orchestra lead by Chuck Sagle laying down a blanket of strings for Mr. Douglas to decorate with his easy-going vocal style. A staggering production, enriched by a haunting choir backing…making the whole thing just a pure delight! Rare and in flawless condition and perched perfectly to rise up and match Mr. McCarther’s unchallenged status. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 83.00 Al Mccarther His True Love For You My all time favourite slice of Beat Ballad Heaven - end of… This is of course the rare authentic original press with the machine stamped S4KM matrix. Condition could not be finer - this copy is utterly flawless - now with got those important points out of the way.. LISTEN and MELT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 386.00 Rocky Gil And The Bishops It's Not The End C/w Every Day Of My Life I’m trying to think of all the very rare records this auction has presented over the last 8 years. Some really hard ones have actually appeared on more than one occasion - we can say it was 8 years 5 months since we’ve last had the privilege to offer this mighty Texas rarity for sale. Upon hearing it again, I think it should be revived if any DJ out there has a copy - I just adore the deceiving slow intro - then wham, those Tex-Mex horns start bubbling away, cradling Rocky’s dusty-desert-choked vocal as he pleads his way through the lyrics. Delightfully primitive Northern Soul dancer from a label who’s output of 45s was unbelievable and most every title is Dog-Rare, and every title bristling with homegrown, organic SOUL! Check out the vocal-group flipside that sits between Deep Soul and a harmony Sweet soul ballad as the upbeat start goes the opposite way and drops into despair. TEX-MEX Soul don’tcha just love it - and when it’s as rare as this one - it’s a must own platter especially for the DJ who wants to revive those underplayed impossibles of yesteryear. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 395.00 Crystals He's A Rebel Seriously Rare 1963 UK London MONO copy in seriously fine condition Vinyl is flawless, labels are both Mint - cover back and font is free of any writing, tears or sticker marks - light age browning the white area of the back cover - very tiny area of laminate lift top left is the only flaw i can find. To have this album is one thing, to behold flawless vinyl is quite staggering. These five Brooklyn gals were there right at he very beginning of the “Wall Of Sound” along with the Ronettes laid the foundations for Phil Spectors phenomenal success, along with the like s of other contributors to this LP arrangers Jack Nitzshche, Arnold Goland. Technical - Larry Levine & Bill MacMeekan. Steve Douglas on Saxophone, Mike Pencer on Piano & Hal Blaine on drums. PS. The album includes the controversial Carole King & Jerry Goffin song with the original title “He Hit Me” later softening with additional wording “and it felt like a kiss” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 172.00
  18. Bernard Calvin Greedy Part 1 & 2 Urban small-town FUNK from this Virginian artist, Wild approach work with the fuzz guitar, is just part of this guys imaginative instrumentation. Electric effects, bongos, strong guitar work and a vocal group chorus to support his jazzy vocal delivery. The whole mix serves up early 70s FUNK with skilled individuality that will have you hooked after a couple of plays. Fabulous Street-level D.I.Y. FUNK! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 249.00 Straight Jacket The Greatest Part Of Loving C/w Fun Delectable-Detroit-Dance with a delightfully docile sax opening proceedings for a vocal that will send shivers down you back. The subtle sax continues prompting a lazy guitar rhythm, as the lead vocal impregnates the session with some real SOUL her team-mates coo away with the chorus, then the saxophonist lights up the session as he too gets excited as the tune unfolds into the real-deal, sax-break, heavenly girl, prodding dance arrangement all pale to that fabulously emotional lead voice.. Who is she, certainly deserves some personal recognition being blessed with such a standout vocal. The flip has the same ingredient but jumbled up into a boogie dancer - that just evaporates in the presence of greatness… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 232.00 Matt Covington We Got Love Long and short version of this journey into falsetto soul with not a club or disco note within hear-shot. Buddy Turner, Johnny Bellman & Jack Faith avoid all commercial cliches as we record the 5.29 long version side - the shorter 3.43 flipside is even tighter and more soulful asyou can imagine. The cold-as-ice Matt Covington vocal is prompted be a mid-tempo Jack Faith arrangement incorporating controlled horns, Philly-influenced string section that zips up the background, as Matt’s wailings grow in depth and delivery on this undated production. A recording that features at the upfront unashamedly “Soul only” venues where a pedestrian production is measured by it’s “ABV of Soul” rather that it’s dance beat output. The clubs where the dancers get lost in the lyrics, vocals and the classy instrumentation..which in this case jumps a league when an inspired flute solo unexpectedly bursts through towards the end. Total Class - saturated in all that is good with modern soulful dance! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 155.00 Bobby Treetop Wait Till I Get To Know Ya NORTHERN SOUL CLASSIC time! Here’s tough one to locate these days - and an anthem that is perhaps not played enough; one for the busy NS-oldies DJ’s to pass Sam & Kitty for. Just as much, if no more power. Jazzman Benny Golson changes gears into overdrive as he arranges Kenny Williams composition with a cynically-commanding backing track that demands you DANCE! THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL … and this copy is an amazing near MINT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 311.00
  19. Auction Help Register Hun's Review Featuring The Soul Brothers Don't Make Me Love You C/w Danger Zone This Pennsylvania rarity is growing in demand as a mini-revival takes place. DJ’s are backing this potent blend of garage/R&B & soul fusing perfectly into aggressive Northern Soul. A Tsunami of brass tumbles from the speakers a defiant falsetto spits out the lyrics in a manner just perfect for one of those “lose yourself” dancefloor 3 minutes. No pause for thought, the production bangs it out loud and relentless as a provocative slab of Northern is born. Two great side.. one tough to snag 45… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 561.00 Barons No One Else C/w Baby Call On Me C/w Not the guys from New Orleans but a Detroit band performing with defiance and energy that leaves no room for pause.. We’ll start with the milder of the two sides, another in a long line of Ed Kaplan productions littered with horns and shrill girls spearing the chorus. Upbeat, strong and relentless mover you may think… just wait until you hear the flip. The Barons ratchet it up a couple of notches as they rip Wicked Pickett’s 1963 Robert Bateman collaboration to bits - with a 1966 high-octane version dominated by uncompromising horns that race along at breakneck pace .. Very RARE mostly unknown but we are aware of one famous New York DJ who is raving about and spinning crazed mix of 60s Garage, Punk & Soul meet head-on, to wreck the dancefloor - the insane guitar break towards the end - just caps it all off… MAD!!! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 241.00 Kim Weston Helpless C/w A Love Like Yours (don't Come Knocking Everyday) If anyone was ever in doubt about the contribution Motown made towards the British all night club scene take a long listen to this Holland - Dozier - Holland masterpiece. The Twisted Wheel All Night sessions were well into their second year riding so much popularity on the back of the R&B / Soul sound policy, you had to queue up well before the doors opened to have a certain chance of getting in. So let’s imagine this 45 played for the very first time to a Ram-Jam-Packed room. Holland - Dozier - Holland had already supplied Motown with a string of uplifting hits, especially for the Supremes. But this is no Diana Ross squeeky, sugary, commercial Motown white audience targeted dance music. This is Kim Weston - a sassy lass who packs a punch into here soul.. …and we can only imagine the affect it had on the crowd that night - it has since of course cemented itself into the hearts of the Northern Soul dance crowd..as a timeless classic.. For the British TMG collector this copy is flawless in every way, still retaining the sleeve it was born in.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 229.00 Sonny Herman What About Me Vocal / Instrumental Stomping Los Angeles Northern Soul with few parallels.. They don’t come any more potent than this high-octane Northern Soul romp! a near 3.00 minute ruckus of stabbing horns ridden rodeo-style by an unflinching vocal hanging on the frantic rhythm. Stay still if ya’can……. Ferocious Northern Soul and fearsomely RARE! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 387.00
  20. hi, where do you get them as a matter of interest, joe.
  21. Phillip Mitchell Free For All (winner Take All) This week’s immaculate Northern Soul classic - goes in the form of a record that seldom turns up for sale these days - but with genuine Mint - vinyl …absolutely never! Click the soundfile to collide with one of the most-memorable-motivational intros ever to lead on a Northern Soul record. A softly rattling piano builds in volume to fever-pitch.. then smack! those Muscle Shoal horns kick in! WOW this is Northern Soul that transformed THE TORCH dancefloor into a 70s X-Factor trail for gymnasts, especially when the pianist likely Spooner Oldham, does a solo…just too much. Does Northern Soul get any better more explosive than this.. not many! Radio Station received date on flipside label is the only blemish we can find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 100.00 Detroit Executives Cool Off Autographed - Pameline TEST PRESS DO NOT let anyone ever tell you this press is THE ORIGINAL test-press of the “GREEN” original. It isn’t! This White Label hand-written label is from the second run of the “Orange” later release that “Popcorn” Wylie ran off during the early 70s. This example is one of only a very few ever made and signed by the man himself. A huge contributor to Northern Soul and quite rightly considered a Doyen of the Detroit Sound. His signature alone is a thing to behold - but this listing also offers rarity and a timeless NS classic that stood out amongst all the stompers of the day - a refreshing change of pace that made it a monumental favourite with the dancers at Cleethorpes Pier & Wigan Casino seeking a breather in a night of relentless upbeat floorshakers. Signed Test Press from the orange label 2nd. run, that’s what this is…but it’s rare and bristling with provenance! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 123.00 Reuben Howell You Can't Stop A Man In Love A meeting of the minds - Philadelphia prowess meet Muscle Shoals muscle, resulting in the most-divine mid-tempo slab of early 70s dance soul it would be possible to construct. A firm dancefloor favourite now for over 3 decades, which witnessed it availability shrink to what it is now…let’s face it if your not quick off the mark this 45 is near impossible to secure. It is one of those listing as set sale item, that attracts of week long stream of phone calls for the single copy you had.. Take a listen you’ll understand why - then view the tempting PROMO complete with it’s picture sleeve. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 63.00
  22. Little Hank Mister Bang Bang Man C/w Don't You Know Firmly written into Soul-Boy folklore as being the most-wanted least seen British Soul “RELEASE” that ever graced the turntables of the Twisted Wheel. Available from UK Decca for just a fleeting moment, as it swept to number one want on the back of the then 3 year old Twisted Wheel all-Night club plays and the frustration of all the smart Wheel faithful trying to order a copy in ‘66, only to be met with their local record shops orders, being returned with that dreaded word - DELETED! Well your frustration of nearly 50n years could be relieved - this copy is in Record Shop newly o0rdered condition - it is without question to finest copy I’ve ever encountered. I’m honored and pleased to see a 48 year old legend with only two merest blemishes on the vinyl to miss the coveted Mint grade.. but does a truly Mint copy exist today.. maybe not…this is “as good as it gets” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 179.00 Phonetics Don't Let Love Get You Down C/w Pretty Girls This rarity has lived in the shadows of “Just A Boys Dream” for far too long, every note as good, in fact controversially I like this by Willie Hutch Trudel session the most of the six different recordings they put to Trudel vinyl. So much so I dropped the needle on at that bravely-upfront Northern Soul venue Bishop’s Wood on Saturday night, shrinking dancefloor room to maneuver, leaving the dancers to appreciated every last drop of those supremely soulful vocals fuse into a wall of sound. Take another listen to a side that has undeservedly suffered as a flip to “Just A Boys Dream” but this example as it very first release on Trudel 1005 should cost you far less than Trudel 1008 will.. Top-drawer Los Angeles vocal-group Northern Soul from the city’s most talented exponent of the sound - hats off to Mr. Willie Hutch. PS condition - of vinyl and labels could hardly be finer. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 194.00 Kim Weston Take Me In Your Arms (rock Me Sa Little While) C/w Don't Compare Me With Her Tamla Motown serial up-graders look no further this 45 is in staggering condition. The Holland - Dozier - Holland machine turns out perfectly crafted Detroit Northern Soul - a femme-stomper with few equals, a floorshaker that has delighted the crowd since the days of the Twisted Wheel and will of course continue to do so. But do take time to listen to Soul-Sister despair on the flipside, when H-D-H change direction to serve up a Deep Soul groove, maybe just to prove the company had real soul as well as the nouse to make irresistible dance music. To underline this listing - we doubt you’ll ever find a cleaner, more perfect copy! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 111.00 Earl Jackson Soul Self Satisfaction As featured on September’s BBC Culture Show’s tribute to Northern Soul and 40 years of Wigan Casino. If you missed that show - do move Heaven & Earth to view, what is at long last an intelligent look into the Northern Soul scene. This tune was portrayed as a Wigan Casino anthem - it was of course played pre-Wigan but who cares? This Chicago tornado of soul encapsulates EVERYTHING that built this scene, into what it is today. Well done the BBC and well done Johnny Pate what you created that day with Earl Jackson I will take to my grave remembering the effect it had on me and 1000’s of amphetamine-fueled teenagers on the Casino or Cats dancefloor and how it took us a week to recover.. TIMELESS PROPER REAL DEAL NORTHERN SOUL! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 311.00
  23. Sam & Dave Soothe Me Currently perhaps the most-popular of all the Twisted Wheel revival tunes - as Sam Moore & Dave Prater beef up Sam Cooke’s composition the Sims Twins recorded so neatly. Neatly perhaps, but nowhere near as effective as the dynamic-duo inject Memphis motivation creating an instant dance-floor igniter. There are three very important aspects of this 1966 British release to consider. The condition is like new. This is the limited very 1st pressing run with the DARK BLUE label. and most imperative, is this is the STUDIO version NOT issued in the USA, where Stax chose to go with “Recorded Live at The London Palladium” recording, which is benign by comparison. You will not acquire a finer copy - well I’ve certainly not seen one in memory. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 80.00 Embers You Can Lump C/w Forever Strong early 60s vocal-group Northern Soul you just don’t bump into anymore.. our first copy for a very long time, so how cool was it to again hear this smooth horn-charged doo-wop influence slab of Northern Soul… It’s always puzzlin’ that an old friend, you appreciate them the less you see them..today this tune sounds a much more weighty production than i remember and the spectacular sax-break took me pleasantly by surprise. Wow, I’d like to reintroduce this to my DJ sets, which are overwhelmingly vocal-group dancers.. Revival… is a certainty, as it never really got the depth of exposure it obviously deserved the last time round in the mid-90s? Today it sounds perfect dancefloor food.. This disc has remained a true rarity..well forever - which brings me to the flipside “Forever” a seriously sought-after Doo-Wop groove, another reason making it an even harder to acquire 7” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 231.00 Marvin Gaye A Tribute To The Great Nat King Cole British Tamla Motown junkies.. you will not find a finer copy EVER! Marvin’s tribute to one of the greatest vocalist and jazz pianist of the last century is nothing short of riveting. The condition of this rarely encountered 1965 British press is utterly spellbinding too.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 64.00 Othello Robertson So In Luv C/w Come On Home Oakland’s finest gather to construct exquisite Northern Soul, a 1967 Bay Area recording that again underlines the wealth of gifted musicians the East Bay boasted. Simplistic piano is blasted aside by stabbing horns and strumming bass guitar, Othello’s wailing vocals tell how she’s so very much in love and wants to marry the guy one day. Eddie Foster & Dell Randle (Othello’s partner on their preposterously rare “Testifi” 45) drive the session pushing Othello’s vocal higher & higher as the session builds.. pure power seeps from ever element of the song.. Proper real deal Northern Soul in it’s rarest form the RED TEXT press in perfect condition! Looks fabulous sounds even better… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 455.00
  24. Harry Moon Woman's Man C/w No Matter What Insanely RARE vocal-group assisted Philadelphia double-helping of “impossible” Northern Soul. Urban-group-sound from the early 70s, an “Intruders” “Gamble & Huff” influenced dance-soul from the desk of George Guess who leaves the contributing vocal group off the label credits, but we can safely surmise this session Harry Moon is supported by the fluid vocals of The Dream Merchants. So click and be prepared to be astonished by this uplifting, purely inspirational Northern Soul that up to this moment in time has been depriving the dancefloor masses of a killer - all down to it’s sheer rarity and not enough top DJ’s being able to boast of playing a copy. Light surface marks and a little label wear but I’m still shakin’ in my shoes with delight at being able to hear, hold and enjoy such a rare piece. MAGIC! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,514.00 Tommy Tucker Hi-heel Sneakers An iconic recording that set dance clubs around the world alight! Not least Manchester’s “TWISTED WHEEL” Robert Higginbothom’s 1963 recording helped to launch Roger Eagles “Wheel” adventure through it’s formative month’s as he sought-out the punchy R&B / Soul dance 45s releases. So iconic a MOD anthem this became it featured in The Who’s “Quadrophenia” - and most every revival “Wheel” DJ set since. Potent utterly raucous twelve-bar dance-blues! Most important aspect of this listing is the staggering condition of the vinyl, labels & and cover. Forensic inspection - we can find not a blemish to spoil it’s high grading. RARE, iconic and drench in “art” and history! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 127.00 Shirlean Williams & The Tempo's Band This Is A Song C/w Ease It To Me Not one but two 70s urban-funk grooves just perfect for today’s upfront Northern Soul DJ. This North Carolina street level release offers vibrant funky arrangements for an expressive sister vocal to ride. Wasn’t sure at first which side i preferred, but after several listens the label flipside choice came out on top for me. Huge potential for the adventurous NS jock to please those dancers who are widening their dance-horizons. Or for the FUNK club DJ to impress the already converted, twice over. Condition is perfect! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 420.00 Sacred Four Somebody Watching You A DJ must have - as this 45 today’s Northern Soul sound captured perfectly! An intoxicating mix of Gospel, Funk & vocal-group dance that is now setting dancefloor’s alight! One listened and your hooked, one play for the DJ and the club ignites into electric sweaty experience as the group transfer their enthusiasm directly to the audience. This is NOW - and it’s instant ! A few very fine light surface marks - but as you can hear - it’s plays perfectly! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 512.00
