  2. Cosmo With The Carnations I'm A Little Mixed Up C/w You Can't Get Kissed The extremely Rare first local Los Angeles release before it’s yellow London distributed outing. A wild totally rampart R&B experience, explosive fury of Cosmo snarling vocal is supported by relentless double-entry bluesy guitar work including impressive instrumental breaks that give relief to Cosmo’s attitude-riddled defiant stance. An instantaneous dancefloor destroying New-Breed R&B shaker, in by far it’s rarest clothes and in flawless condition. Find another one if you can… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 75.00 Baby Washington That's How Heartaches Are Made C/w Doodlin' Oh so desirable - Oh so rare 1966 UK DEMO! Condition could not be finer, original birth-sleeve, perfect vinyl and a labels with the scarcely, if ever seen rubber stamped PROMO “A” One of “Baby’s” best loved recordings in by far and away it’s rarest form. So rare, I don’t ever expect to see one in this flawless state again. “Nobody puts “Baby” in the Corner” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 161.00 Johnny Summers I'm Still Yours C/w Prove It To Me From the golden era when Northern Soul slipped underground as the NS masses disappeared into housing estate front room surrounded by kids & bills. A dedicated band of men with better things to do than get married, carried on the search for ” Lost Soul vinyl” and came up with some real beauties, records that would stand the test of time and still sound as crisp today, as they did during the underground 80s period. This is one such tune - a Los Angeles killer arranged by the highly honed skills of Miles Grayson (a producer with a very impressive NS Curriculum Vitae) as he guides Johnny’s whiskey-worn vocal through this potent mid-tempo dancer littered with gorgeously pitch girl-group chorus. THIS IS CLASS ! Even though the label owner has long since found and stripped, this record has remained RARE throughout. Huge pedigree and future rarity assured! This copy is utterly flawless Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 437.00
  3. Baby Dolls He's Coming Home C/w There You Are What a very impressive mid-60s Liz Bacone sessions from Philadelphia Girl-group Northern Soul this is, one that I’ve never heard before - We’re guessing it was unissued as something as good as this would surely have been jumped-on by the Northern Soul DJ decades ago. Not overlooking the Kenny Gamble aided composition on the flipside, a complete eyebrow raising harmony ballad from the top drawer! This perhaps unique acetate is sat in the “Vinyl-Home for lost treasures” awaiting a NS DJ to flaunt it to the world. It’s instant Northern Soul dance intro leads the way for lush tight harmonies to ride a fantastic chugging (Bobby Martin?) production, a heady mix of girl-group lead, backed by rich male-vocal harmony decoration. Flip it for a ballad that rivals and surpasses any of the very best sister-harmony-ballads I’ve ever heard…utterly heartbreaking “Arlene Smith” inspiredl lead, begs her way into your aorta to relentlessly tug at at your inner feelings - SUPERB, absolutely superb. Two great sides we personally know nothing about - except both are decidedly brilliant..and come out of Philly with the flipside later being remixed as an all girl-group vocal in 1968 to appear on Gamble 213. This double hitter we feel was UNISSUED unless someone knows different… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 211.00 Universal Love It's You Girl There’s not stopping this 1977 Miami soulful dance tune as it races up the value-chart on a wave of DJ support and collectors frenzy. a supreme construction of fluid harmony vocal woven in to flowing dance arrangement. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 205.00 Charts Livin' The Nightlife C/w Nobody Made You Love Me Vibrant, uplifting 1966 New York vocal-group Northern Soul that has remained dog-rare for near 4 decades, even though it came to the publics atention with it’s inclusion by Ian Levine in 1974 on the Pye Disco Demand album “SOLID SOUL SENSATIONS:” it is in fact, by far the rarest recording on that now historical listing. Proper real-deal 100% classic style backdrop Northern Soul that never quite reached monster status again rarity suffocating it’s awareness. Today, it is the then neglected and arguably far superior flip side that is making all the ripples around the scene; as the more subtle mid-pacer is now the in-vogue style. Both sides are magnificent examples of our music - one is full-on Northern Soul, with a flipside so classy you could dance to it all night to it - a NS shuffler right up there with the greatest. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 410.00 Eryke & Arronette Where Are You C/w Well you would think on this label this 45 cannot be too rare - THINK AGAIN! ONLY available as the never-seen listed STOCK copy. From the same gathering that gave us just 70s dance-delights as Jeff Perry - Love Don’t Come No Stronger - etc. comes another decidedly delicious tune in the form of this duet primarily crafted by Kenny Stover. Take a listen and prepare yourself for a love-affair with 70s soulful rare groove, carrying only a hint of the era’s disco-influences, as the horns lift it out and away from the obvious, the contrasting lead vocals ricocheting of each other as the weave through the polished arrangement - love it! Sheer quality - soulful dance at it’s BEST! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 103.00
  4. Al Kent You Gotta Pay The Price Time for the seriously dedicated British Tamla Motown completest to stamp their claim. Never ever issued in the UK on a TMG number, but the EMI executives must have seriously thought about it, as Laura Lee, J. J. Barnes, San Remo Strings & Edwin Starr had already enjoyed successful UK outings. This single sided acetate is date stamped 9 June 1972 slightly after the tracks inclusion on the successful Tamla Motown stml11232 “Ric-Tic Relics! album. Well they thought about but it never happened. This in-house acetate is most probably UNIQUE and utterly essential if like so many out there - dedicated to acquiring the best British Tamla Motown collection possible. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 78.00 Billy Stewart Unbelievable Pure self indulgence, Billy Stewart is one of mine and perhaps everybody’s favourite Soul singer, a life cut short in the prime of his career but never to be forgotten for his unique voice and outrageous delivery. So sample a truly gifted artist and his accomplished way of serving up even the most unlikely soul song and making it sound utterly irresistible. On this album Billy sets about redefining the 50s classic ballads, giving them a new voice and meaning. Listen why, in the world today there are no Billy Stewart impersonator ..he was and still is a one-off. This album is the rarely witnessed 1966 British press which still retains the original inner sleeve, two perfect labels, totally unblemished vinyl. Cover has a couple of ultra-light corner “bumps” and one red marker line of the back cover (see scans). A crucial LP in fine, fine condition demonstrating a Soul-Genius at play… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 69.00 Metros Time Changes Things so many awesome tracks we could easily have sound-filed the whole LP..but that is no surprise - PIED PIPER never did a bad track - did they? This journey into the non-commercial side of 60s Detroit Soul is more than magical, it showcases what Northern Soul is all about, seeking out the very best of the best, that never hit home with the public. PIED PIPER in my humble opinion were the greatest team to ever record Soul Music and for a short time in the sixties produced the very finest 60s dance soul imaginable. This album allows you into the world of those geniuses that unfortunately weren’t appreciated during their time. Sad, but it does give the collector some masterpieces to chase - and this album is a real-masterpiece of Northern Soul. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 101.00 Fats Domino If You Don't Know What Love Is a gleaming impeccable 1964 British Red & White DEMO! Somehow overlooked in the 60s, passed over by the Northern Soul scene through the 70s & 80s. But to rise up during the 90s Northern Soul R&B revolution this horn propelled growling mid-tempo became so very popular - but invariably played from the 1964 USA ABC 10545 release. The British HMV release was a tricky disc to find - as a Red & White DEMO very, very tricky. In this completely unblemished condition impossibly tricky. One for the British ” Condition-neurotic” Red & White addicts! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 119.00
  5. Apaches Trying To Make Ends Meet C/w Just Another Lazy Day Killer street level 1972 Deep FUNK adorned with a gorgeous vocal-group harmony Northern Soul Crossover flipside. Topside first. Earl “Sixtoe” English production that is considered a timeless Funk-Grail on the Six Toe label and has filled the Deep-Funk dancefloors for an age, and now at last breaking through into the “upfront” Northern Soul venues as it’s rhythmic power and relentless attitude sits perfectly into the “Lifeline” style all nighter. The flipside (not on the SIX TOE release) we consider perfect for venues like Soul Essence & The Orwell etc or any other event were there’s a quality control consideration before the stylus in dropped. Two stand-out sides on one very elusive disc - vinyl has some light surface marks - but as you can hear plays beautifully clean clear & true. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00 Paris Sleepless Nights C/w Wishing Well Power, Power and more Power not only from Paris’s gargantuan vocal but also from the studio technicians gathered in the Los Angeles studio, autumn of 1964. Chester & Gary Pipkin, Marc Gordon, Frank Wilson and Jerry Long all conspired to craft this extra-special Northern Soul 45. Embellishing Mr. Tears booming vocal with a shrill girl-group choir, blaring horns, spine-tingling’ vibes as the recording links one crescendo after another. Seldom can you hear all components of an arrangement swell up to hit you in the face as much as this mighty tune does. Like an unstoppable avalanche of soul, the five studio-doyens of L.A. fabricate what is arguably THE most-powerful recording to ever grace a Northern Soul turntable! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,364.00 Tommy Ridgley My Love Gets Stronger a thing of RARE beauty! The finest Northern Soul 45 to ever emerge for New Orleans, a city ravaged by tragedy and rarely if ever giving up any vinyl-treasures post-Katrina. A brief and maybe final opportunity to own it’s most-wanted Northern Soul vinyl artifact. Listen and resist if you can.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,798.00 Lou Johnson 1968 Stax/volt Promo Pack An impossible piece of memorabilia for one of Northern Soul’s icons! Inc: an original stunning 10” by 8” black and white glossy artist shot. plus a fully 4 A4 page bio compiled by Stax/Volt promotion department with the lead sheet letter headed with all the Stax/Volt label logo’s. The whole thing is pristine having been entombed in an envelope for the last 40 and more years. It is unlikely anything of this quality of paper endorsement for this man’s standout talents will ever come to market again d not pass by. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 60.00
  6. hi ady. i've got an ex or better issue if you want to use it, just ask and send an address and i'll post asap, best, joe.
  7. Two Plus Two Love Will Conquer All 1968 Los Angeles feelgood Northern Soul originally cover-up as The Servicemen, which figures as this too is frantic real-deal vocal group harmony Northern Soul with all the essential attributes to whip up a dancefloor storm, just like “Sweet Magic” “Connie” & “I Need A Helping Hand” have. If I remember correctly it was “Butch” who first unleashed this classic style stormy-stomper upon us back in the 80s, always a DJ with an ear for cyclonic Northern Soul - and still This 45 year old is in “filed forever” “Never Met A DJ” perfect condition and one of the very few upbeat dancer to have never been bootlegged or re-issued! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 176.00 Case Of Tyme Manifesto Think Northern Soul Christmas Present - think perfect condition CLASSIC! In 2013 a perfect condition very first press of this “Shop At TEsco’s” Northern Soul anthem is a near impossible quest.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 130.00 Rudy Ludaway What's Wrong Baby C/w Trying To Make It Home Listen and immerse yourself in some real-deal-soul. For enthusiasts of the “impossible” first labels, check out this adorable Northern Soul crossover dancer, with an uncredited vocal group smoothly backing up Rudy’s finely tuned emotional singing serving up perfect mid-tempo soulful dance. Rudy Ludaway is obviously an overlooked talent, as he wrote & produced both sides to this distilled soul-experience. A record that to my knowledge has never received attention from the “Crossover” orientated DJ’s. Rarity again stunting it’s monster potential - even though it was also released on 2nd. GALICO 102 and lastly United Artists 50590. Even though 3 releases it is still very hard to find on any of those labels. The AWAKE first release as we noted at the beginning an “impossible” capture.. and when you consider the flip side is excruciating Deep Soul i think those serious about collecting rare-soul will have their interest more than piqued.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 200.00 Temptations You Better Beware Prepare yourself for David Ruffin’s distinguished vocal to blow you away..with this likely unique British EMI acetate (3:51 mins), for a proposed 7” release that never happened. “You Better Beware” was recorded in 1982, and was the second track on the Reunion album (US Gordy 6008) , which was put out in conjunction with a tour the same year, where David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks re-joined the Temps to perform. It was never a single in any country. The album version is distinctly longer than this acetate, at 4:59 mins. Written by Barrett Strong, produced by Iris Gordy & Barrett Strong. Historically important as it was the only track on the album where David Ruffin was on lead vocals, and the last time he ever recorded a lead vocal for the Temptations, as the group sacked him again by the end of 82 for being hopelessly unreliable on the tour. Listen and you’ll hear an 80s Rare Soul dancefloor monster poised and ready to fly. Remembering our research suggests it is unique - reshaped for a single that David Ruffin’s final Temptations departure made unreleasable. NOTE those Brit Tamla Motown foragers who have hit the singles-run “Brick Wall” this type of offering you may only see once in a lifetime. This one will also whet your appetite for a few more British unique acetates.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 251.00
  8. Major Lance Um Um Um Um Um Um In 1963 British Columbia was to unleash Chicagoan Soul-Master Major Lance onto these Islands. To little or no response as the front cover gave no hint whatsoever to the style of music - soul was still a bit of mystery to the Brit record collector. Within a few years with Columbia’s support for the Okeh label enabled the Twisted Wheel, Club-A-Go-Go, Mojo, The Scene, Flamingo, Nite Owl etc. etc to resound to the tones of Chicago Soul. By which time the EP had been long deleted. Since it’s inception in 1963 this has been The Major’s hardest to locate British release - sporting fully 5 tracks which include the EP only UK releases of 1. Hitch Hike 2. Delilah 3. The Bird 4. Keep On Loving You A glorious collectors piece with an eye-catching art cover - sparking off the introduction of Northern Soul’s most-beloved artist. If you collect records of any style this historical UK ONLY 5 track EP with cover is utterly essential, as the scan & soundfiles will validate. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 71.00 Jackie & Millie Ooh, Ooh C/w In A Dream The two darlings of Jamaican music, Jackie Edwards & Millie Small pair up like Marvin & Tammi for a perfect musical marriage. But this is no Reggae or Ska session but a thumping British horn propelled Northern Soul, hidden way & overlooked flipside. This duet-dancer drip with relentless charm, adorned with a to-die-for sax break. The contrast in vocal pitches works perfectly as the silky Edwards vocal rolls out the carpet for Millie ear-piercing enthusiasm to override the disparity giving it a unique character of it’s own. Passed by for decades and suffering from it’s own rarity, this Jimmy Miller & Chris Blackwell production is ready for more than just a MOD hearing. This copy is utterly flawless, like new condition! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 95.00 Shade's Of Jade Is It Wrong If your the type of collector who seek’s those 45s emitting aromas of rising value, the discs that have over the years have become an endangered species as t6he disappear completely from sight. This Los Angeles Northern Soul beauty is just that, what’s in the grooves and it’s availability scream UNDER-VALUED and set to fly! Sorry, this item has already been won! Very few if any 560s Soul LP’s carry the reputation this vision of beauty does Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 107.00 Clyde Milton I'd Rather Leave On My Feet The original and by far the rarest version of this fabulous example of 70s rare soulful dance. A fine example of Michigan dance music of the 70s bypassing all the crass New York disco cliches and still serving up wonderfully constructed soulful dance. A country mile rarer than Emanuel Lasky - and better too.. Sorry, this item has already been won! We doubt that there is a more fascinating insight into that fateful night. Also features and in-depth report on Martin Luther King’s tour of Europe + as pictured a review of 20th. Century Fox’s newest Star Mary Wells and her latest single. This iconic magazine exclusively report on worldwide “African American” people and events is a cute pocket size 5.7 inches high and 4 inches wide and 68 pages thick.. Riveting and a most-unusual stocking filler.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 11.00 Eddie Foster I Never Knew Two of the Northern Soul scene’s most-influential characters came together in 1974 to help launch future monster in the wilds of Wales. Soul Sam was the regular NS Jock for Wednesday nights at “MINSKY’S” Wrexham. Simon Sousan’s packet with Eddie Foster in had arrived earlier in the week. Immediately Soul Sam added it to his “MINSKY” top 10 plays listing at #1. Before the crowd had even heard it, so confident was Sam that on the night this tune would rocket straight in at Top-Spot. On the hour every hour Soul Sam dropped the needle on this magnificent newbie..and yes by the end of the night.. it was # 1. The same style of promotion was of course to happen at Wigan Casino that weekend. To ensure one of the quickest Northern Soul monster-classics to ever break big. Simon Soussan had it bootlegged and in the English Record shops (light blue label styrene press) within weeks of Soul Sam’s enthusiastic endorsement. Sam’s response was to only pay Simon Soussan £1 for his newly discovered monster! This 45 now sits solidly still in everybody’s Top Ten timeless NS classics. Especially in this perfect condition - this is the “title” in deadwax variation. Think Northern Soul Christmas Present - think perfect condition CLASSICS! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 437.00
  10. Topics Have Your Fun C/w A Man Ain't Supposed To Cry The only thing that is more staggering than the condition, is the phenomenal Northern Soul that sits in the grooves of this Chicago “impossible” Every note, every tremor, every soaring girl-group echo is backed up by a gallery of blaring horns … THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL - THE REAL DEAL Preposterously RARE - emphatically brilliant! Condition is blinding! and if that’s not enough the flipside is soul-drenched as a highly fashionable harmony mid-tempo unfolds and for a split second takes your mind of the resplendence of the “other” side. Northern Soul does not get better than this - and the condition could hardly be finer! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,238.00 Leonard Adeair I Dig You C/w Pussycat Baby Breathtakingly RARE and Heart-Stoppingly GOOD! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 1,013.00 Homer Banks Hooked By Love C/w Lady Of Stone I always credited Al Kent - The Way You’ve Been Acting Lately - as my life-changing record when I first heard it at the Brit Club, Nottingham circa 1969/70 as an impressionable musically curious 16 year old. But just before that experience, on a summer’s Friday night after an evening of boredom sampling Melton Mowbray’s nightlife, I had the privilege of going back to party, at one of the real-MOD’s house. I’d been excepted into this exclusive gang of fashion, music conscious, local trendsetters. It was that night I saw for the first time a proper record collection, The host “Spud” had all of maybe 40 records scattered over his living room floor. Wow this guy was hip, Rhino finish shoes with his laces tied up by the latest shoe fashion “hooks” and he had records everywhere! Well amongst the vinyl-mosaic on the shag-pile was an Homer Banks - Hooked By Love - I’d never heard of Homer Banks but when it hit the turntable (perhaps # 5) in the stack dropping down the long spindle in turn. The vocal just blew me away, the arrangement (Memphis) was so new to me. By the end of the night, Teenybopper Manship was the proud owner of said 45 at the cost of 2/6p In later years I was to appreciate Homer Banks for the genius he was - writer, producer and occasional singer and an icon of the Memphis music scene. 44 years later to hold a near mint - UK DEMO provides me with instant euphoric recall back to the 60’s Wimpey Housing estate and the vision of what a prick Spud looked in those “Rhino” finish shoes… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 240.00 Judy Street What Think Northern Soul Christmas Present - think perfect condition CLASSIC! And this copy is PERFECT! Sorry, this item has already been won! A New York production orchestrated by the dependable Teacho Wiltshire a master of manufacturing the Big Bold Brass arrangement. As Sylvia unfolds the age old story of girl betrayal - Ms Shemwell deliver a stark warning of defiance as she is positive her man will see through her revivals lies and come running back to her. Listen to a young man with uncanny insight into the girl-psyche as he crafts lyrics of real substance and meaning, spat out by a defiant woman with a huge-attitude. Brilliant early 60’s sister-Northern Soul in “made yesterday” condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! Before the soundgfile was listed this 45 year old classiv was UNPLAYED other than a tiny sticker residue stain this 45 is PERFECT! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 144.00 Epic's I Want To Be Your Guy C/w Let's Walk In The Limelight Excruciatingly RARE Chicago vocal group Crossover dance soul from 1973. Take a listen to this hidden gem drenched in Soul Essence chin-stroking qualities. Led out by a chilly falsetto lead vocal, enriched with similarly pitched sweet soul chorus and swirling strings. For a street-level production this mid-paced D.I.Y. project is brimming with all the right qualities for the discerning dancefloor. Horns open the way for opulent harmony embroidered with zipping strings and subtle bass guitar - potent horn breaks.. all come together in a primitive but highly effective mid-tempo rarity. Flip it over and the Sweet Soul aficionados will drool over the ballad, using again lavish string section to elevate the vocals… Two fabulous examples of how even after all these years there are still real jewels out there to be discovered.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 186.00 Mohawks Pepsi C/w Mony Mony Huge sought after British production from those inventive Palmer Brothers who again pull together a compelling instrumental that has had Funk/Boo-Ga-Loo DJ’s scratching their heads trying to find way to capture a copy. It turns up so very seldom as it started life as a flipside to an instrumental version of Tommy James hit - Mony Mony - which by comparison is very MODDY but bland. So lets turn our attention to the fabulous previously overlooked B-side that was to emerge as a top tune Boo-Ga-Loo tune. Dancefloor inticing bass guitar intro, in joined by drum roll and bongos, wah-wah guitar injects the rhythm then the “theme tune” style hammond adds depth and structure to this instrumental “Go Go” dancer. But the Palmer Brothers re no done - arm waving girls coo a chorus, a bank of horns join the show. The studio is full “Pepsi” bursts from the can! Killer FUnk/Boo-Ga- Loo tune! UK only and so very hard to find! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 61.00

I’m Going Down In The Cellar gonna gather all my clothes! and where I’m going baby…..nobody knows……. Oh this just drips with despair & hopelessness! The winning bid was £ 81.00 Milton Wright The Silence That You Keep C/w Keep It Up Jazzy, sultry, classy treasure from Miami. BOTH sides give up mid-tempo steppers of haunting quality as an inspired Willie Clarke molds Milton Wright’s two compositions into dreamy funk infused strollers. Relax and take a listen, I can’t make up my mind which side I’m smitten by the most. Both tunes blend a wealth of instrumentals into an amalgamation of Jazz & Soul “Silence” carries along a haunting flute to accompany Milton’s “Vernon Burch” style delivery. Flip it over for a harder edge tune, tat was a monster in London during the 90s and sound dead-right for a refresh for the “New-Breed” Funk scene sweeping the halls of Northern Soul. “Keep It Up” would be a perfect dance-floor-diversion in today’s NS Scene. Two great sides and one record in perfect condition. Sorry, this item has already been won! Back and forth all night trying to hear the best sets. This 45 was in ALL the best sets - and still today it sparks visions of those memorable Saturday Night - Sunday morning scenes by the sea. So let’s get to the point - the point is this copy has avoided all the hardships of the Northern Soul circuit - this has been “garaged” guarded and unplayed since it’s OCD collector discreetly filed it away in the 70s after it’s purchase from one of those legendary “Soul Bowl”Lists for £7.00. 17. Ronnie Barnes & Rush Hour You've Got My Heart C/w We Were Right From The Start We are now viewing the VERY RARE side of 70s Soul. For eons a “Soul Sam” signature tune, and today this delicious mid-tempo rare soulful-dance masterpiece still as impossibly-elusive as ever. Mr. Barnes injects his soul into this dance-stroller with a room of girl cooing and oohing away in the background, then enter a barbarically potent sax break bursting through when you least expect it. Little wonder this 45 has headed so my Modern Soul collectors bucket-lists for decades. But do check out the flipside which obviously could never be as good as the A-side masterpiece - but it comes close. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 463.00 Barons Kid Stuff C/w As Sure As You're Born Rising in demand as you read - a delicious Wardell Quezerque session offering up creamy vocal-harmony mid-tempo stepper of pure class. The “Creole Beethoven” crafted so many wonderful soul songs almost without exception saturated in soulful emotion. The black vocal group sound is becoming the most-sought after style across the the different genres encompassing the World of Northern Soul this you’ll agree is a mighty fine example. flip it over and the sound takes on a meatier stance with a strong Northern Soul dancer, perhaps inspired by the Masqueraders - I Don’t want Nobody to Lead Me On - as similar horn riffs carry the tune. Two great sides of rare New Orleans soul with flawless Mint minus vinyl, labels carry minimal signs of water contact. Then you have to ask the question did many records escape the fury of “Katrina”… This 45 will just become rarer & rare, as time goes by. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 121.00 Los Africanos It's Your Thing C/w Together People (pamjowatu) Rare New York early 70s FUNK that has remained virtually unfindable for near 40 years. Sparking Acid Jazz to delight demand and do a fleeting re-issue. But this is the real-thing. A magnificent double window into the legendary talents of Latin Boo-Ga-Loo master Bobby Marin has he reworks the Isley Brothers classic late 60s club-dancer injecting Mambo rhythms, Latin congas and some amazingly laid back saxophone work building a session that slowly but surely explodes into a Jazz masterpiece… almost unrecognizable from the Isley’s original but equally if not more compelling. Flip it over for the A-side that is equally up-and-at-it defiant Latin Jazzdance groove.. Two awesome tunes on one near perfect disc.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 57.00
  18. Chubby Checker You Don't Know (what You Do To Be) A thing of rare beauty… A Northern Soul anthem that failed to gain a USA release, making this 1965 British PROMO an “Holy Grail” amongst not only Brit-Vinyl addicts but also Northern Soul DJ’s who don’t want to risk the rigors of the Northern Soul circuit with their precious West Coast styrene PROMO copy, not that many jocks actually own a copy. Vinyl collecting opportunities of this kind come along so infrequently - don’t live in regret, it’s time to enhance your collection with, like we’ve already described, “a thing of rare beauty..” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 513.00 Bobby & The Inkeepers World Of Fantasy Now for something insanely RARE and totally different. Upfront DJ’s who want to stamp their own personality on their sets and have the confidence to play “Outside The Box” this record has those memorable qualities that lift a DJ set up and beyond the competitors. Produced in Seattle, Washington pressed in Los Angeles; a Bobby Shorter project crossing the boundaries of Soul into Garage and back out again. Reminding me of the effect “Crow - Your Autumn Of Tomorrow” had on the Northern Soul scene when Ian Levine played it, opening up new territory for the imaginative Jock to explore. This 45 we think is so different, so infectious so riddled with attitude you can’t help but like it… One thing is for sure, turn up with this in your DJ box, nobody else in the building is going to have a copy… Flip is a killer ballad..check that out too Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 111.00 Lou Johnson The Magic Potion Of Lou Johnson the RARE 1964 4 track British EP complete with laminated Picture sleeve showing a fabulous post of Lou Johnson at the piano. Do NOT confuse the 1964 release with the Goldmine 90’s which replicated the cover but chose a different track listing. This listing is the genuine seldom seen article. Bert Bacharach & Hal David considered Lou Johnson as the perfect counterpart to their female star Dionne Warwick, often recording both artists with the same song. Dionne went went onto worldwide fame, Lou Johnson although his talent was equally strong and all his recording with Bacharach & David standout sessions. Lou’s career although peaking with Northern Soul great with Bill Giant, Bernie Baum and Florence Kaye fell away after 1966 .. This EP is his most desirable vinyl offering not only musically but artistically to.. great pic & fabulous music. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 70.00 Mary Wells My Baby Just Cares For Me 1964 British MONO press. This is an utterly immaculate copy - flawless vinyl, perfect labels, still retains original birth inner-sleeve. Laminated flipback cover has no distracting flaws, front is uncreased, back cover is free of writing, sticker marks, stains or blemishes Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 40.00
  19. Major Lance Everybody Loves A Good Time C/w I Just Can't Help It Major Lance without question the Northern Soul’s Standard Bearer of the sound! This Chicago Soul Man did more to inspire the pioneers of the NS culture than arguably any other artist. His UK Columbia release put the British kids in touch with the Chicago Sound which I for one was enthralled with when I first heard this particular song at Nottingham’s Brit Club in 1969 and the same night “Investigate” I like many others of the era became an instant “Major” devotee. This example in 1969 would have been a dream find, in 2013 it’s eye-candy to an old man. Gleaming vinyl, perfect labels and the original birth sleeve - memories and British collecting don’t get much better than this.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 147.00 Bill Brandon The Streets Got My Lady C/w Tag Tag Few records every time I hear them make the hairs on the back of your neck bristle and your spine tingle. Utterly spellbinding dance-soul from Nashville where the impressive 1976 studio collaboration craft a monumental recording for all to treasure. A meeting of the minds as Moses Dillard teams up with the City’s most prolific Soul-maker Robert S. Riley. Who utilize full orchestration as an intro, to the gnarled-by-experience tones of the mighty Bill Brandon. Listen and prepare for a trip into 70s greatness as the studio ignores all the outside influences of 70s dance music sweeping the land and create hugely impressive “Disco” free tune. If that wasn’t enough - the flipside is a 100% Sam Dees enterprise that serves you with a most-beautiful ballad. A ballad so good that the “Jamaican Island scene” in New York felt it essential to bootleg this masterpiece. Today my mood has been changed by a 1976 studio session in Nashville that produced soul which is a “10” flip it for another “10” Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00 Bits'n Pieces Keep On Running Away STONE MINT perfect 1974 PROMO! …of this current dance-floor favourite revival tune that spent the last 1/2 of the 70s as the perfect antidote to the cold North Sea chill that enveloped Cleethorpes All Nighters seemingly always. So big was this 70s “niter” spin the Nashboro Group re-issued it to meet demand. Fortunately for the NS collector the re-issue although carries the exact same matrix makings - it had a plain black label with silver text and logo. Before you today is a previously unplayed STONE MINT first press PROMO wearing that essential multi-coloured NASCO logo. You will not find a finer copy - ever! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 154.00 Mr. Perculator I Can't Get Enough C/w Come Back To Me We have sung the praises of Pearstine Badger on this pages before - a Florida Soul Man who’s astonishing vocal flair bewilderingly only saw him record a handful of 45s. This 45 like his few others gives up a Northern Soul blaster one side and a genuinely persecuted Deep Soul experience on the other. It is artists like “Perk” Badger that attracts us all into a lifetime of seeking out street-level rare soul made for neighbors, relatives and the forlorn hope of some radio station play. Top side is thumping Northern Soul aptly covered-up as “Johnny Sayles” and if the Deep Soul cene did cover-ups the flipside would be credited to “Otis Redding” Christ this guy is so good - perhaps the great “lost” Soul Man ever! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 539.00
  20. Cautions Watch Your Step C/w Is It Right SHRINE TIME! offering two great sides.. One of this completely tight vocal groups records on this the World’s most-wanted label! Take a listen to this Eddie Singleton creation as he draws from the very best aspects of the mid-60s vocal group sound. an “Impressions” style mid-paced beauty decorated with a Sax Break straight from the “Hitsville” studios. An hybrid of Detroit & Chicago, made in Washington D.C. Flip it over to be smacked in the face by, uncompromising Northern Soul raw, raucous and down right violent NS Dancer! Note this listing has a “replica” flipside replacement label which is so convincing the previous owner never ever noticed and I only discovered it when my cleaning renovating skills came to a halt when I realized it was a copy. Coincidentally the copy in my collection has the flip label missing and it’s not the first time I’ve encountered this title without the flip label… we are welcome to theories on this phenomena Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 3,513.00 Little Joe Hinton Let's Start A Romance C/w Your Kind Of Love Like your 60s dance music driven by a set of Elephants kahoonas! Check out why this Dance-Tsunami of 60s R&B/Soul from the mysterious California singer who popped up again in the 70s on Hotlanta. But this is no seventies soul-stroll, this is a 1961 Los Angeles session dripping with the ingredients to beckon you to the dancefloor. Sultry lead vocal is cradled by sexy horns as the “Popcorny R&B Rhythm” builds… then suddenly the man raises his pitch to outrageously effective levels. No wonder clubs worldwide are shaking to it’s seductive tones, I recently dropped the needle on it at “Brooklyn’s” “Dig Deeper” gig, to a great response but then realized both Michael Robinson & DJ Honky had already blazed the trail for me.. on this one. Personally I think this killer has a long, long way to go in terms of awareness.. A nailed-on emerging Monster… as you are about to hear. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 584.00 Inmates This Is The Day C/w Gypsy Heart San Diego soulman June Jackson crafts two rebellious Northern Soul beauties which blend gritty Soul and 60s garage into a captivating mix. Topside is a bold brass propelled upbeat dance tune that only a privileged few can boast of being able to illuminate their DJ sets with. Potent urban production using a shrill girl-group chorus to support a nicotine coated lead vocal. An aggressive, growling, defiant stomper that totally kicks ass as it ticks all the boxes. The mid-tempo flip will delight the USA 60s garage fans… Just stupidly RARE a few light surface marks to the vinyl but as you can hear it plays loud clean and true.. listen then ask yourself when are you going to see another? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 530.00 Lonnie Lester You Can't Go C/w You Choose Not super-rare but the huge demand is not making it an easy one snare. Over the last decade every copy we have ever found sold with hours of listing. Lately requests for a copy are almost daily.. unsurprising really if you listen to soundfile attached…this is pure undiluted 60s Northern Soul decorated with a premium horn arrangement and a snapping vocal that demands you move.. Scrap it out guys .. we are worn with requests for it.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 361.00
