  1. That is one mother of a cool soul record - the vocals are fantastic.
  2. Ay up Dave Hope you're well mate. Yep, good old John. I was never a huge buyer but bought quite a few bits from the bowl in the early 80's - John was always really friendly and helpful. Peter
  3. Indeed Sir. Mid and even down tempo soul music all the way for me. Thinking back to my yoof stompers and hundred mile an hour records always freaked me out! LOL
  4. It's a lovely record for sure. As Arthur said, times have a changed.
  5. I think Dave had quite a few firsts at Stafford. As has been very well documented by Chalky in his post wigan post this was a fantastic time for new records - I never really bought into the "60's mafia" sound but loved lots of other stuff.
  6. Well we all know who that would be then.
  7. Bloody Hell! Forty years for that? Quite obviously a Russ spin - it's a steaming pile of dog turd.
  8. It's a great soul record for sure. Just to put a different slant on Steve's thread.................................... So, who played this first? For some reason my memory associates this with Pat Brady in the 80's - although my memory/knowledge is not something one would wager on in the slightest.
  9. A wasps! Like lots of natural things it looks like a work of art - a thing of great beauty, yet something which creates and sustains life. Amazing.
  10. Evening Steve I hope all is well. Yes, I saw your post just after. I was going to have a guess at the type of nest but thought best left to those that know better. It's a great photograph which reinforces just how amazing, wonderful and beautiful nature is. Peter
  11. Hi Andy Hope you are well. Loved your Snowdonia pictures. So, that is a nest of something - quite, i know not? Peter
  12. You probably missed the most important bit of all - "oldie yes , played out maybe , rare as rocking' horse sh*t most certainly" - yep all that, but....... despite/in spite of all that it remains a superb soul/dance record. Stood the test of time for me.
  13. I always find threads like this interesting and still think the record sounds as good as when I first hear Richard play it all them years ago. it's a barn stormer of a dance record.
  14. Ay up Barry Welcome back. Was wondering where you were. Peter
  15. Just out of interest Chris I wondered how much that $600 would be worth today - so I googled it. $1,052.96

  17. Hi Alan Someone wonderful stuff came out of Willie Mitchell's studios - including most of the Hi label tracks. Fantastic line up of artists - perhaps my favourite label. Liam - if you're into soul music go and check out the discography for Hi - it's awesome. Peter
  18. Sounds like someone has been ripped off good and proper - all for the sake of an individual(s) "vanity project".
  19. Have a search on previous SS threads regarding ovo etc. If the soul police catch you playing boots you've had it. If you're going to DJ you better start investing a bit of cash and buy real ones - or don't bother at all. If you haven't got the records to DJ then you aint a DJ.
