  1. It's not a touch on Greater Experience; now that is a top northern soul record. Just saying like. Peter
  2. Lovelites were a fantastic group. Peter
  3. Back to the record in question............................... You can pick it apart bit by bit but; this is one of those records that typifies the old school "northern soul" monster. A proper record for dancers too. Peter

    Mablethorpe Soul All Dayer

Across the board soul all dayer. At Number 8 George Street.
  5. Welcome to SS Lyn. Peter
  6. The first Terry Callier record I heard played out was Ordinary Joe; I guess the same goes for lots of others. Early 80's, played by quite a few people. Lots of versions I think. I think that was the question you were asking, rather than about his live performances, which I think came much later. Peter
  7. And a cracking appearance it was too. Some great choices from Karl, very mixed set. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Peter
  8. Yes, a super star of soul music Bobby. I bet it's mint. Peter
  9. Talking shit, with lots of love though. But; everyone is staring at you. You know, that bloke over there....................
  10. I've been flicking channels again. I'll try this after dinner Steve. Cheers. Peter
  11. It wasn't a regular thing - mainly Adam and Robin Salter playing in the small room downstairs.
  12. Occasionally Oddfellows had two rooms. Peter
  13. The 80's were my best time at going to venues - the music was better. I loved it, best days and nights of my life. Peter
  14. Bourgeois, I like that. One of my favourite words.
  15. The man not from Del Monte says, "It's orrible".
  16. I'm really sorry to hear that, it sounds traumatising. I hope your mum's ok. Peter
  17. Thank you for your kind words. (I'm so sorry I always forget your first name - part of being a bit mental ) It sounds like you've had a rough old time, although you have some sense of stability - similar in a way to me I guess, although your transplant, building up to it and then recovery must of been very frightening. I'm pleased that you have a good clinical team around you, they sound amazing. I hope you continue to thrive and to stay as well as you possibly can - you're a decent man. In terms of corridors I think if put end to end Queens Medical Centre corridors would stretch over 25 miles - I'm pleased I don't have to walk the length of those! I always look out for your positive posts on here; stay well my friend. Peter
  18. I fully concur; it's a real education into so many different aspects of the music that weaves us all together. Thanks everyone for making it all so worthwhile. Regards Peter
  19. I love having a friend like you Simon. You could say that I've been around the block. Some of those blocks have been pretty tough too. Your mate. Peter
  20. That's pretty cool.
  21. Not Lady Di, but; on a few occasions me and my mate Terry did act as driver and minders to a male stripper who used to appear at numerous miners welfares throughout North Notts and South Yorkshire. It was an odd job but paid good money. We travelled from Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire. The "artiste" was popular with the ladies but we did occasionally get grief from some of the wives husbands who often turned up to see what the fuss was about. I did some odd things to earn a crust back in the day. There were police anti flying picket road blocks everywhere - some of the old bill gave us a right hard time. Pierre
  22. Thanks Simon I remember travelling through the North Notts/South Yorks minefields and being stopped regularly by the police as being suspected of being flying pickets. Definitely a Thatcher inspired revenge war on the working classes. I've decided to watch the Fargoe series again - Billy Bob Thornton is one of my favourite actors. Have you seen Swing Blade? I hope you're well Sir.
  23. Carl was a nice man - he's still knocking about Mablethorpe. I think he's a Town Councillor. He also had a bike repair shop a few doors down. Can you remember that. Ross, whose house you stayed at a few times, his older brother Jason, worked in the bike shop. Happy memories Mick; we were all fit and well then. Speak soon. Your friend. Peter
  24. It's certainly one for happy quick feet. Peter
  25. Hello Sutty Funnily enough I never knew Figgy's surname. He's about my age 61, used to frequent the Fleet, Cleethorpes, Rotherham, Wigan a few times with me etc. Had curly hair at one point - do you think we're talking about the same geezer? He was also a right poser! Let me know if you think we have young Figgy Forbes bang to rights! All the best my friend. Peter
