  1. Ha! The good old white label "test pressing". Load of bollox in lots of cases.
  2. Greed. Pure and simple. Pete
  3. Thanks Chris. I played this last night - it's awesome. Dave and Steve were bang at it! Pete
  4. Amazing Harry. Top man. Pete
  5. This probably fits Mike's Sunshine Pop category too. I danced to it back in the day and still like it - place and time and all that. Keith - Daylight Saving Time Cant find a link - all the vids on YouTube have been blocked. pete
  6. No worries mate. Loads of great output from the the Memphis based Hi stable. Willie Mitchell et all. There's a superb box set with an awesome track listing - more like a book. Well worth getting a copy - Ian Dewhurst had a few sealed copies for sale but getting hard to pick up at a decent price generally. Pete
  7. I'm not sure that anyone has been mean or personal? Just some honest views on what people thought. Im sure everyone is in awe of any performance given the age of some of these artists. Often it is as much about seeing them in person as the actual performance.
  8. One on discogs which I suspect you have seen. Don't know what it's worth so no idea whether that's a fair price. Pete
  9. Interesting Mike. Far better than lots of other poppy stuff and a good dancer though.
  10. Hi Dave yes the couple of instrumental breaks are it's weakpoints. Other than that it beats along quite nicely and wouldn't be one to go in the "white pop shit" dustbin. Pete
  11. Anyone mentioned this yet? Worthy of a place on any cd/podcast. Great dance track.
  12. I was a late comer to Van Morrison - he's great. I have mentioned his soulfulness on a few threads previously. He's recorded a few bits with Bobby M. pete
  13. Betsy with her new toy - not totally sure about it just yet! IMG_0331.MP4IMG_0331.MP4 oops- can't get that to work. Will try later.
  14. Cheers mate. Now you've posted that I do recall seeing it before. I used to think they were some posh English band - probably the name James!
  15. Now that is a top ten contender for worst record ever played. Utter shite, horrible.
  16. Here's Betsy, my brothers new rescue dog. She's been very badly treated but you would never know - she has a beautiful temperament and has soon settled in.
  17. I think you'll find that back in the day the local chemist shop had more to do with dance floor reaction than soul ever did. Not to denounce the many, many great soul records that were played.
  18. There are northern soul apologists.
  19. I'll vouch for it being utter shite.
  20. Wow! I'd have never had guessed that. Great record yes - and all about the struggle.
  21. All of your pictures are great Steve. However, the Puffin collection are absolutely stunning - worthy of any wildlife magazine/website. Well done mate. Pete
  22. Yep, absolute massive record from the early 80's and probably my top pick at the time. . The reason I sold up is that I had a fair few records like this stolen. Never thought I would contemplate buying them back due to the price and availability - but then you get sucked into the zone! I bid on one the other night. Pete
