  1. Evening Benji No need to apologise. I think we’re on the same page with regard to a couple of other members. All the best mate. Pete
  2. Wow, Rob, it looks lovely on that shiny green label. It sure does have it. Pete
  3. I was hoping for a poncy retort to my French Dylan! I feel somewhat wronged that you did not give me a good kick in the goolies!
  4. It's all about opinions innit. The record has that je ne sais quoi about it. And what do you say to that Sir?
  5. Awesome tune is that Buddy Smith - you have great taste Sir. Pete
  6. Just been doing a bit of jiving to that Martyn.
  7. You’re being a little harsh there. This is a community site where members should be welcomed to seek advice and support. There are a few time wasters who post now and again but let’s try and keep it all in the spirit to which it’s intended.
  8. Hello Richard I hope all is well my friend. Are you still down the lane? A nice price is very subjective isn't it - and these days everything costs a fortune. I was happy to pay £150 for a nice minter of a long time want that reminds me so much of Rotherham. Trying to put together a very modest new collection after selling up previously is tough - having had a go for a couple of years I'm toying with the idea of .............selling up again. It's a funny old world! Sending you my best mate. Pete
  9. Just did a quick check and think it's a 1974 release.
  10. I remember it being a massive Poke play at Clifton Hall although I understand that was a "reactivation". It has been discussed on here before Derek but I can't remember. The Mecca? I'll try and find the thread later. I finally managed to get a nice priced one on here last year. It's a super soul record and a stonker of a dance track! Pete
  11. Just seen one of these in sales. I have the album and the 45 somewhere. I think I got the 45 as a real bargain from the states - many years after I bought the album. Can't remember who played this first but pretty certain that it was a big Clifton Hall spin. Bobby King - If You Don't Want My Love.
  12. Blue Sharks for me - every time, the production is better and I prefer this version. Probably the first of the two that I heard - maybe that's a reason The Blue Sharks always reminds me of Soul Sam and Nev Wherry I love the story behind the Sharks - the name of the group, the up until recently belief that they were unknown Italian's Soul Sam buying his original copy back from someone in Italy so that he could play it at the last Cleethorpes Winter Garden All Dayer I like the Gran Prix label design I have one in my very modest collection. Pete
  13. Because you can't have your cake and eat it! Pete
  14. Never heard that before mate. Nice one thanks. Pete
  15. We did have a thread once where we posted up some pictures of ourselves - obviously very well handpicked! I'm stuck in a time warp - I think everyone still looks like they did back in the early 80's! Pete
  16. Cheers Ted That looks very nice indeed. Easy in my top five "modern" tracks and has stood the test of time for me ever since I first heard Sir Dickie play it at Wigan as Tyrone Edwards. Sold my issue many moons ago and half tempted to get another one since I started collecting again a couple of years ago. Pete
  17. A little self indulgence! That man George - How Can I Get Next To You. Super, super soul with very, very clever lyrics and links to other soul brothers. Got this on a minty white demo - its thing of beauty! Enjoy. Pete
  18. I really like that John - new to me. You generally can't go wrong with George Jackson on the credits - one of my favorite artists ever - he was a real, cool soul man, love all of his stuff. Pete
  19. Never seen one of them Ted. Pete
  20. I keep thinking I might sell up again. A truly modest collection which I only started building again recently having sold up in the 90s.
  21. You posted that in the right thread Mick?
