  1. I listen to the Dave Raistrick one later. Dave was the first ever DJ I heard play when I was really young - him being from Skegness and me being (at the time) from Mablethorpe. First time I ever went to Wigan was with Dave in his car. Long drive! Pete
  2. We used to have a thread about different people on the scene. I can't remember what it was called.
  3. The show with Gilly and Tats was was absolutely stunning. Well done guys and thanks for sharing some of those wonderful stories. I think I've listened to it seven times now. Pete
  4. I'm sorry to be picky but you left the grunts out.
  5. Bernie for me. And I like the grunting! Pete
  6. I get stuck in a time warp on SS. I look at friends avatars and ............ I thought you were only 27 Ed. Lol. The Tomangoes handle should have given me a better steer! Pete
  7. New to the thread so not really followed it. I get the Babe Ruth and Worlds Column - massive when I started. Cats Eyes and The Kid - no thanks, always destined for my shite bin - even as a youngster. I remember the dance floor bouncing to So Is The Sun at my very first all nighter - Derby Assembly Rooms circa 1979. I was aided and abetted on the dance floor by my first three for two. I hitch hiked all the way from Mablethorpe, Lincs. Chris King picked us up in the morning onn the A52 and gave us a lift to Nottingham - in his white Mercedes Benz convertible. Happy days. All subjective of course - one mans rubbish is another man's treasure. Pete
  8. Yep thanks Russ - some great photographs. I'm no expert - but I know what I like, and I would put some of my SS friends photographs up with them. We get plenty of "wow" pictures on here. Pete
  9. Good pick Chris. A big spin in my gaff - as you say needs blasting out of the amp. Pete
  10. I didn't know that there were tortoises on Menorca. Someone I know has a villa there. I'll chat to her. thanks for posting. Pete
  11. Thats a lovely picture Steve. Your mum looks lovely. You look like a little Cherub I'm sorry you have just lost her - my mum died 15 years ago. Like this picture I'm sure you have lots of happy memories. Takes a while for the rawness of losing your mum to subside a bit - but easier in the knowledge that you loved each other. All the best mate. Pete
  12. Not sure if I've posted this before. Lou Courtney - The Common Broken Heart Pete
  13. It has now become a challenge to find you one! I think they have come down a bit recently. So, there's a few of us looking out for you pal. Pete
  14. I'm pretty sure that they are a legal repress. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong! Not the same as having the original though is it.
  15. It's a corker mate. I'll keep my eye out for you. If I see one I'll snap it up and if you're still looking I'll pm you. Goof luck. Pete
  16. There's more than a handful around. It's a quality record - one of the few that were game changers on the scene courtesy of Richard S. Whether or not you can persuade someone to sell is a different matter. And if you can it won't be cheap. In my top ten essily. Pete
  17. Ay up Smiffy. I hope all is well mate. I knew you would agree on the Yum Yums - raw, naive but absolutely beautiful record. The vocals and lyrics are sublime. One I always forget when talking about favourite records - but its definitely one of mine. Pete
  18. Yum Yums all day. The under produced, raw, girly vocals are something quite special. If anyone disagrees I'll fight em for it! Pete
  19. Yep, probably my favourite Four Tops record - I've got the 45. Big spin for Adam early 80's. Pete
  20. It was a splendid jaunt Mike. Keep em coming. Pete
  21. One gets the feeling that the last few commenters are trying to suggest that those that voted for Sid did so because they're either old, know nothing about the rarity of records, weren't around in the old days and that you know for a fact that Jerry Cook is the better record. All of which is absolute cobblers. In my opinion Sidney is the more soulful of the two - that's it. You can try and intelectulise it till the cows come home but you won't change my mind. Pete
  22. They could be on holiday Ian. Half the world is away this time of year. Pete
  23. Loads of Bobby Womack and Teddy Pendergrass stuff.
  24. Curtis Mayfield - No Thing On Me Aretha - Got To Find Me An Angel
