  1. It wasn't a regular thing - mainly Adam and Robin Salter playing in the small room downstairs.
  2. Occasionally Oddfellows had two rooms. Peter
  3. The 80's were my best time at going to venues - the music was better. I loved it, best days and nights of my life. Peter
  4. Bourgeois, I like that. One of my favourite words.
  5. The man not from Del Monte says, "It's orrible".
  6. I'm really sorry to hear that, it sounds traumatising. I hope your mum's ok. Peter
  7. Thank you for your kind words. (I'm so sorry I always forget your first name - part of being a bit mental ) It sounds like you've had a rough old time, although you have some sense of stability - similar in a way to me I guess, although your transplant, building up to it and then recovery must of been very frightening. I'm pleased that you have a good clinical team around you, they sound amazing. I hope you continue to thrive and to stay as well as you possibly can - you're a decent man. In terms of corridors I think if put end to end Queens Medical Centre corridors would stretch over 25 miles - I'm pleased I don't have to walk the length of those! I always look out for your positive posts on here; stay well my friend. Peter
  8. I fully concur; it's a real education into so many different aspects of the music that weaves us all together. Thanks everyone for making it all so worthwhile. Regards Peter
  9. I love having a friend like you Simon. You could say that I've been around the block. Some of those blocks have been pretty tough too. Your mate. Peter
  10. That's pretty cool.
  11. Not Lady Di, but; on a few occasions me and my mate Terry did act as driver and minders to a male stripper who used to appear at numerous miners welfares throughout North Notts and South Yorkshire. It was an odd job but paid good money. We travelled from Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire. The "artiste" was popular with the ladies but we did occasionally get grief from some of the wives husbands who often turned up to see what the fuss was about. I did some odd things to earn a crust back in the day. There were police anti flying picket road blocks everywhere - some of the old bill gave us a right hard time. Pierre
  12. Thanks Simon I remember travelling through the North Notts/South Yorks minefields and being stopped regularly by the police as being suspected of being flying pickets. Definitely a Thatcher inspired revenge war on the working classes. I've decided to watch the Fargoe series again - Billy Bob Thornton is one of my favourite actors. Have you seen Swing Blade? I hope you're well Sir.
  13. Carl was a nice man - he's still knocking about Mablethorpe. I think he's a Town Councillor. He also had a bike repair shop a few doors down. Can you remember that. Ross, whose house you stayed at a few times, his older brother Jason, worked in the bike shop. Happy memories Mick; we were all fit and well then. Speak soon. Your friend. Peter
  14. It's certainly one for happy quick feet. Peter
  15. Hello Sutty Funnily enough I never knew Figgy's surname. He's about my age 61, used to frequent the Fleet, Cleethorpes, Rotherham, Wigan a few times with me etc. Had curly hair at one point - do you think we're talking about the same geezer? He was also a right poser! Let me know if you think we have young Figgy Forbes bang to rights! All the best my friend. Peter
  16. Hello my friend The record shop was Carls records - it was a little further down towards the High Street. He had plenty of northern soul stuff - I remember buying a mint RCA black issue of "cracking up over you" among many things. I hope you're well pal. Peter
  17. I guess it was not long after this that Dave began his US forages and started to find/discover some great new tunes. I went to Wigan with Dave in his car a couple of times; me, and two Boston lads Mick Bradbury and Figgy. Peter
  18. We're it all began for me. I've not seen Dave R on here for ages - but one I guess he'd like to see. Circa 1976/7 I'd guess. The place is now a care home. @Dave Raistrick
  19. Hi Steve Welcome to Soul Source. Peter
  20. Tony who?
  21. I'm enjoying this mate. Just having an ice cream interval. The lady hasn't been round with the tray round her neck so I'm having to get my own. Some great European things around. Thanks for the tip. Peter
  22. I suspect Cecil would still top the charts for many folk. It's an awesome, atmospheric record. Not too many reach the bar. Peter
  23. I had to see the liver consultant at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham this morning. I was very anxious and was accompanied by my mental health care coordinator Danielle. The hospital was spotless, staff warm, friendly and reassuring; including the consultant who was very informative and very lovely. Everything completed exactly on time. I can't think of any thing they might have done to improve things. My liver disease is stable, and just need to have two scans and another endoscopy in the next month. So, I'm pleased with everything. Not having had a drink since December 4th 2021 has been the main factor. So, despite years of cuts and a starvation of funds the people running things are doing an amazing job. Three cheers for our amazing doctors, nurses, consultants ,administrative staff, the cleaners and anyone else. Peter
  24. Thanks Simon I'll check that one out. I hope you're ok. I've been grey - just like the weather. There's a good song in there some where! Your friend. Peter
  25. Sweet soul - definitely one for the Low Rider scene. New to me, I like it. Peter
