    Nice one Steve. Was it cold? I've recently started to go for a swim every Sunday lunch time at a leisure centre nearby. I love the water but hadn't been for over ten years due to my being a porker and depression. I'm enjoying it and getting a bit fitter. Pete Wow!

    Great post Chalky. What a fantastic legacy Richard has given us. 1979 was when I really started - although Wigan 1981 and Clifton Hall, and Cleethorpes Winter Gardens under Steve Crofts stewardship were my best years. Yate was tainted due to the massive coach drive back - sick as a dog and bouts of paranoid schizophrenia. Pete

    The soul scene for many was a dance scene, not everyone, but I would suggest a majority. Holly St James is never going to be a soul record - I'm purposely not using the term "northern", but it is a fantastic, atmospheric, dance record, particularly so for the majority of attendees, who were off their faces on amphetamine. It is a record that I still like hearing. Pete

    The youths of today haven't got a clue. They're taking the wrong drugs - ecstasy and charlie wont sustain an all nighter scene, they're rubbish. They need to get some proper gear like base amphetamine down em.

    I think they’re actually very nice. Wouldn’t want them in the house though. I had one living in a huge pile of rubble outside my back door once. It was in the winter and I became aware of it after hearing strange noises at the back door at night for about a week. I finally noticed that something had chewed a huge hole through the wooden weather board at the bottom of the back door. In the spring we filled two skips with the rubble - after nearly a mornings work, down to the last couple of barrow fulls, Mr Rat jumped off my mates shovel and scampered off. He was the size of a rabbit! Pete

    Yep that’s a proper record. Full on stomper? I’m not so sure about that. It’s one of those records that I always did that posy, lazy walkabout dance style to. Stomper type stuff was never really my bag. Pete
