  1. Thanks fella. That works! I don't need to say anything else - just have a listen. Peter
  2. Bother! I'm struggling to get the link to work and have to go out! I'll sort it later - sorry!
  3. I got the heads up on a radio show last week - I'm sure some of you know about it already. It's Mick O'Donnell's show on 209Radio and guesting last weekend was me old mate Sean Hampsey. I managed to listen to the show this afternoon - and wow! If you want to listen to some wonderful soul then follow the link below and click on mp3. Lots and lots of different stuff - from deep to modern, old and new - all of it top drawer. First hour is Mick and then for the next couple of hours it's Sean playing some stunning records and chatting about his involvement in soul music. It's the freshest thing I've listened to for ages - thanks Sean! So - go and have a listen - let me - and Sean, know what you think. I can't recommend it highly enough. https://www.209radio.co.uk/shows/profile.ph...w=souldiscovery Peter Bugger - the link doesn't seem to be working! Let me have a fiddle!
  4. Six of us went to St Ives in an orange mini once - from Spilsby in Lincs. That was a squeeze. In the mid 80's my mate Terry was a chimney sweep. There were a few occasions where we had no option but to go to niters in his sweeps van. The front was ok cos it had a partition behind the two front seats. Remember one night we were in a hurry so we just put a large mat over some bags of soot in the back. We set off for Leicester Odd Fellows and picked up to girls from Louth on the way - who had to get in the back of the van. They weren't best pleased but we told em we'd swept it out. Got to Leicester and opened up the back door to let the girls out - they were fooking black from head to toe! Apart from to white rings around their eyes. One of em had a new white dress on - they went fookin loopy. They were ok after I bought them shed loads of gear!
  5. I like a big fcuk off venue that's rammed with a great atmosphere and decent music. But they perhaps are halcyon days. Don't mind as much these days - providing there is a good atmosphere and plenty of people on the dance floor.
  6. Barry White, The Stylistics and the The Three Degrees were our main fare!
  7. Yep that's different Steve. I think Tyrone's is the best dancer - and still my overall favourite. Probably cos ther 1978 through the early 80's were my favourite years musically. Thanks again. Peter
  8. I prefer the Tyrone Barklay one to the other versions I've heard. I'll go and check the clip now - thanks. I like a lot of Lou Rawls stuff. I'll report back in a minute. Peter
  9. Not heard it before. Wow - the gal can sing. I like it - lots!
  10. So that's where you got it from!
  11. I assume that this is the same song that was done by so many other's too - including Tyrone Barclay? I never knew until recently that it had been covered so many times. Anyone got a clip of the Lou Rawls version please. Thanks Peter
  12. You must try harder Steve!
  13. There was quite a few then and there are still quite a few now.
  14. Pretty sure that's correct.
  15. I already added Clifton Hall and Cleethorpes Steve! Keep up! Opps - just saw you're doh! It may well be me not keeping up!
  16. It was a stormer Matt. I had some great times there too.
  17. Ah, what a cutey!
  18. If you're gonna throw all them in Mike then I will throw in Clifton Hall and Cleethorpes!
  19. Tight Kentish bugger!
  20. Quite a few of them were listed on here recently - check out sales. I think a few of em might have been on Dave Thorley's site.
  21. Sir Dickie is the man in my book. Some of his sets from way back are just stunning - fantastic 60's newies aligned with the best on offer from the seventies - even early eighties. Untouchable. In my very honest and humble opinion.
  22. Is that a different album to the Elektra Turn you to Love - which has Occasional Rain on it? Oops - I've now read the above post.
  23. I missed it too - so does anyone have a thinternet link - I ain't got a mate who recorded it. Fanks.
