  1. Always tried to get a cold pint of milk down me at Cleethorpes winter gardens all niters - used to think it was a healthy balance to the gear. This isn't a top all niter experience but I used to do it.
  2. Mm, I'm drinking french brandy so that may well be a factor. Yes, some talent Andy. This particular record is all about her voice - not much else to it really. P
  3. I'm just posting up random things that I like - not necessarily northern. I hope that's ok. Here's a real melancholy tune - the best version (imo) out of many, many covers. Absolutely love it - it's a folk song really, blue eyed origins as we might say, but I think this ooozes my definition of soulful class. Nina Simone's take of Mr Beau Jangles - and he's still grieving after his dog up and died all those years ago. Beautiful. Peter
  4. The clip made me dizzy Andy! Not a bad tune though - nice and raw, not over produced. Peter
  5. Sticking with fantastic vocals and with a Bobby connection - what about this? Sam Cooke, It's Been a Long Time Coming. I like it anyway. Peter
  6. Just finishing my cull of Bobby's Poet Albums. Todays offering from The Poet - If you think you're lonely now. Top notch vocals from the man himself with the addition of some great harmonies/backing. Peter
  7. I've always liked this Pete. Featured in a few films I think too - makes a great soundtrack. Peter
  8. Todays pick from Bobby's Poet 2 outing - American Dream. Great lyrics.
  9. Mm, I'm not sure either, I'd go with blues - I think. But then again ............................. What I am sure about is - what a voice!
  10. Snap, crackle and pop by the sound of it!
  11. Sticking with stunning albums from the 80's - Mr Teddy Pendergrass from his Ready for Teddy session. The gospel inspired Somebody Told Me - love this, along with the rest of the album - probably his best IMO. Stunning soul music. Peter
  12. Nice one Martyn - I love both albums and I'm having to restrain myself from posting up all the tracks from both. I remember the summer of 86 (could be a year or two out) driving to niters in my mates MGB with the roof down banging out Poet II. Great times. Bobby is the king and I agree - both of these albums are up there with the best. Peter
