Hi Mate It was certainly the subject of a thread on here but not sure it was up for sale. There were some scans etc but think it was more of a discussion about the group. I could be wrong of course.
  2. Cheers for that Roburt - I've seen another article previously but not that one. Liked the bit about how the record was a platform for some local musicians and it was "placed locally". I guess they never knew - or would even understand at the time, how it would become so big over here in the early 80's. Thanks Peter

Would make a great intro for a Blaxploitation movie.
  4. That's interesting Steve. Incidentally I would have thought that Hardest Part was an earlier record than How Can I Tell Here - soundwise I mean. Peter
  5. Wasn't Curtis (Anderson) HCILH a famous radio DJ too? Peter

I knew you couldn't possibly be speaking about me! I thought you might have been on about Smiffy!

It's all interesting stuff - a bit over my head (and ears) really. I've never really listened out or know about this much. And Barry - just for the record I never fecking touched George Blackwell!
  8. Don't go out with yer disco mates then. Get yersen off travelling to some all niters.
  9. Yep, well done Steve. As you say Pete - very different take and about a minute longer!
  10. Mm, the full thing sounds far more like a James Bond theme than the Deadbeats and or Yvonne Baker put together. More Deadbeats than Yvonne Baker in my book though - before the Deadbeats probably in terms of Sir Dickies wigan context.
  11. That's a nice list. Never heard the Eddie McLoyd "Once You Fall In Love. Very nice record indeed. Peter
  12. That's a nice piece of mid tempo groove Buddy.
  13. Ah. Sorry, I'm not convinced it's the same thing either. Misunderstood your original post - I thought you were interested to know what it sounded like. Still, it is dead similar - mm, bit of a pun there!
  14. That's what it sounds like to me mate - i haven't the best ear, but they are so similar it's uncanny.
  15. Just having a bit of fun with yer buddy. The Shirley Lawson is a nice record. Think Back Beat was the first press - been a couple of tunes on that label featured on here last few days - bit of a coincidence.
  16. Hi Steve Slowed down version of the Deadbeats - Who Do You Think You Are? Peter
  17. You've got good taste Pete. This is a stunning piece of soul music - just a bit short! Been listening to a bit of Sam Dees of late. Peter
  18. I haven't got one - but your post almost persuaded me to send you a picture of said item. Now, why would anyone do that? And, you might want to get yersen a copy of "How To Influence and Win Friends" whilst your about it. Oh, welcome to Soul Source.
  19. Yep, this is dance music Martyn.
  20. There's been loads of records like this appearing recently - I think it's a new fad. We've had distressed leather and denim - we now have distressed vinyl.
  21. I'm a big fan of Betty Swann's unique voice - just oozes soul. Nice one Andy. Peter
