  1. It's a proper 60's dance record. Very uncomplicated. Peter
  2. That's an interesting and sensible post Ian. Enjoyed reading that. Fcuk me - what is the scene/world coming too! LOL
  3. Nice post mate. Great, great vocalist. Proper soul isn't it - gonna plug my amp in. Peter
  4. Which scan would that be then?
  5. One from me today - although I'm struggling to remember what I've posted up before! Peabo Bryson - Why Don't You Make up Your Mind. Peter
  6. New to me Andy Great stuff - what a voice. Peter
  7. Candi Staton is a very worthy Take 3 guest Neil. Best Peter
  8. Hi Robin Hope yer well. It was a long time ago - some of it is more vivid than others! I was struggling to recall a track last night on here - then remembered it was Cut Glass - Alive with Love. I had you down as perhaps someone who had spun that back in the day - think it might have been Sam first. Did you have a go with it? Best Peter
  9. Johnny Gilliam - Tell your friend (it's over) Peter
  10. Very nice Dave. Peter
  11. I don't DJ but I always liked to hear this record closing the After Dark Winter Garden All Niters - Rick Dalton I think. It's a great track full stop. It's All Over - Charles Mann Peter
  12. A very worthy addition Andy. Otis was very much a veteran when TOWIU was done. I think it's pretty cool when telling people who know the Yazz thing that actually an old soul man did this much better - and they agree when they hear it.
  13. I think it's the best thing they ever did. But, happy to hear your alternatives and to continue my education. Peter
  14. Well done Dave - picked up some great new tunes via these threads. Yep, sort of know what's coming. Will try and research a few early doors! Peter
  15. Mm, I worked there for a bit in the early 90's - was involved in running a financial services business based at the bottom of Bath Street - there was a pub opposite which I can't remember the name of. Bit of a brawling place at weekends - appparently. I often think of Shippo - what a lovely, friendly lad he was. There's a picture of him on here somewhere - he looks so young, care free and happy. He was a gentleman.
  16. I seem to recall Shippo (bless him) tellling me the story about Curly living there when he was growing up - they had a tough time by all accounts and think they moved as a result. It's a tough old place is Ilson - as are lots of towns around and about.
  17. Don't know the flip - just played it from You Tube and it's not my bag at all. It's proper disco that is!
  18. Mm, it might have been sam then. It's a decent record.
  19. Nice one Simon - my memory kicked in two minutes before your expertise! Not sure now that it was a Sam spin? I now seem to recall Robin S playing it somwehere - Leics Odd Fellows maybe. Oh, dear, the memory isn't what it was and it twas many moons ago. Great track IMO. Cheers buddy. Peter
  20. Got it. It's Cut Glass! Peter
  21. Yep, got one somewhere as well. Hope yer well buddy. Peter
  22. Aaarggh! I'm having one of those moments! I've got a song going round in my head which I know and like really well - but cannot for the life of me remember what it is. I'm sure it's an old Sam spin - might be Dickie, might be someone else. Big modern record back in the day - ah, nearly remembered the title Alive with Love? Chorus goes I can make you want me, I can make you love me, I can make you mine, all mine - or something like that. any other day I'd remember - ideas anyone? Thanks Peter
  23. Not sure that I know this Billy and can't find a clip on You Tube - have you got one buddy? Peter
  24. Nice one Tank. Not something I've listened to before. Mm, does our scene under rate Marvin - I think I might be guilty of that.
