  1. Yep, the list goes on Rich. Main String was the first one that had me hooked - got a few of em in me box somewhere.
  2. Oscar has made some great records hasn't he. Main String, He Sent Me You, I Got What You Need etc. Great voice, great records - and what a cool name Oscar Perry! Peter
  3. I'd say Sam as well Rich. It's a great 60's northern soul record. Peter
  4. The blonde girl in the white tee shirt clasping her chest is, err fit. LOL peter

Sounds great Mike - well done. It will probably take the pc slow folk such as mesen a while to get to grips with it but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Peter
  6. You are correct of course Len. It's all about opinion and as you say collectors "collect". I'm sure the buyer will be very excited that they've managed to nail a major "want" and I'm genuinely pleased for em - but it don't do owt for me. Peter

I think it's one hell of a haunting, stunning record. Pure class in my view - it's got that spine tingling "something". Peter
  8. Wow, £8.5k for The Counts - I still don't like it. Peter
  9. Not read the entire thread so apologies if it's already been covered. I saw Eddie Holman at Hinckley Leisure Centre - that boy can sing! Apparently he does voluntary work with poor people in Philly. Peter
  10. I stand humbled and corrected Smiffy - well in so far as he is no longer with us. However, there are lots of references to Ral being an Elvis tribute act so I shall stand by that bit. Notwithstanding the fact that I really don't know the difference between a "copyist" and a tribute act - methinks your splitting hairs!
  11. Ral Donner has always been shit and will always be shit. He is still doing the rounds as an Elvis tribute act. Peter
  12. It's a bit of a balad type thing - it's ok. Peter
  13. Cosmo Small Piece! Very average to these ears. Peter
  14. Ah, I was about to use that term Godz! My view, after many years hindsight and insight is that CHLY is not a soul record. It does however have that driving beat and is a good dance record - I've had some great times dancing to this. It is far better than some of the other steaming dog turd type records which were played back then. Peter

    Nice one Steve. Peter

Evening Steve Yep, we did do that thread - it was quite interesting and a bit of fun too. I don't know how to link to previous threads but people can search for it and its still there cos I just had a look. It was called - "Wigan - Circa 1980 - Who Hung The Fookin Banner!" Peter

It wasn't the Coffee record that actually earned Sam the sack - although it was probably the straw which broke the camels back. Peter

Err, sorry Kev. The typhoo tea was stonger than I thought. Peter

I bet it stilll sounds better than the Lee Roye piece of steaming dog turdness Tony Err, I just actually listened to Lee Roye for the first time in years - and it isn't so bad. Peter

Could of been 78 - I'd say more like 79 mesen. But that is splitting hairs. Peter

Hi Steve Pretty sure Sam was there in 1980 - remember the Keep The Faith Not the Funk banner - great old thread on here about that even if I do say so myself. That was Sams last night. Peter

Bugger reminds me of Chalky's profile image Caz. Which in turn reminds me of a classical book - A Kestrel For a Knave. Which was adapted by the great Ken Loach into a fine but sad film - Kes. Peter

Well, Bob, that's fine and dandy by all accounts. But, lets be clear about this, one swallow does not make for a summer. Peter
