  1. The Montclairs - I Need You More Than Ever My contribution for the day. Peter
  2. Give this baby some volume and lets see you groove. Got a battered up copy of this Syl Johnson - We Did It Peter
  3. Here's one from me - a stunning piece of 70's soul music from Tyrone Davis. You keep Me Holding On Peter
  4. I've not had one previously so will probably get one - in colour and all that. Is there a "first to purchase" discount Kev? Peter
  5. I went to an all niter at Birmingham Locarno - 1979 I think, certainly before Wigan shut. it was half empty and crap. Anyway, back on thread, anyone ordered one of Kev's books yet?
  6. It is odd. But the facts are that the likes of Clifton Hall, rammed, Cleethorpes, rammed, Bradford all niters, rammed, Stafford, rammed, Morecambe, rammmed, Notts Odd Fellows rammed - these are just a few of the bigger places. The likes of Sir Dickie was at his absolute best in the early 80,s, Soul Sam, G Rushbrooke, Pat Brady, Poke. Mr Hampsey, Guy and Keb, Adam etc - all playing some blinding stuff. P
  7. About matches my experiences Chalky Fantastic rammed venues, plenty of new music, and plenty going off.
  8. Not sure if you meant my post was a petty argument Pete - I'm sure you didn't. It was a valid point and one which Kev acknowledged - as you can see from his post he even says he's changed his mind on what was an outdated view. Peter
  9. Hi Kev Wasn't looking for an apology mate - and wasn't trying to be difficult. The 80's for me (and many others) was a great time musically and venue/niter wise too. Clifton Hall, Cleethorpes, Stafford, Leicester Odd Fellows etc - hugely popular all niters, packed to the rafters with soul people on a new soul journey of modern/contemporary sounds juxtaposed with the style of Keb and Guy and their 60's newies offerings etc. I had my best times in the 80's by a long, long way. Cheers Peter
  10. Apparently this definitive book says "During the 80's the movement took a serious turn for the worse, however with the advent of the 90's and CD's, things could not be more healthier". That certainly wasn't my experience and it isn't a view which I could agree with now. Peter
  11. Fantastic record. Looks nice on the white demo.
