Ah, I was about to use that term Godz! My view, after many years hindsight and insight is that CHLY is not a soul record. It does however have that driving beat and is a good dance record - I've had some great times dancing to this. It is far better than some of the other steaming dog turd type records which were played back then.

Yep, we did do that thread - it was quite interesting and a bit of fun too. I don't know how to link to previous threads but people can search for it and its still there cos I just had a look. It was called - "Wigan - Circa 1980 - Who Hung The Fookin Banner!"
Peter
I bet it stilll sounds better than the Lee Roye piece of steaming dog turdness Tony
Err, I just actually listened to Lee Roye for the first time in years - and it isn't so bad.

Hi Steve
Pretty sure Sam was there in 1980 - remember the Keep The Faith Not the Funk banner - great old thread on here about that even if I do say so myself. That was Sams last night.

Bugger reminds me of Chalky's profile image Caz. Which in turn reminds me of a classical book - A Kestrel For a Knave. Which was adapted by the great Ken Loach into a fine but sad film - Kes.

LOL
I'm laughing Caz because I did consider using some of my choicest, most vulgar expletives - and I do have an enviable repertoire! But, hey, bugger off is nice and classical.

They're too clean, too pretty and too not off their heads. Gi em some back street blues or some bombers. Err, no actually, give em to me. I'll look after em like.
Some good dancers though.
