  1. Because Bobby is my favourite artist I'll have to give his Poet 1 and Poet 2 albums a shout. Poet 1 marked one of Bobby's comebacks from the wilderness. The man really has some extremely diverse and prolific output. Rest in Peace Bobby. Peter Good thread - plenty of new stuff to go at already. Peter
  2. That's a good shout and one I will go with today. My "best" or "favouritisms" move with the sand. Peter
  3. We can be flexible Mickey, good post. Peter
  4. What a group. Just looking at the various line ups is a star studded soul palace. Curtis, absolute genius, Jerry Butler, Leroy Hutson etc. Of course it would be extremely remiss to not mention the groups original members Sam Gooden, and Richard and Arthur Brooks. As has been said too many to single out any particular one. Their contribution to the Black American Rights movement cannot be ignored, nor can their roots, which they kept dear to, in Gospel music. From Tennessee to Chicago, it's proper soul music all the way. Good thread. Peter NB - I seem to recall starting a Curtis Mayfield thread not too long ago, he has (notwithstanding his sad passing) an amazing following on here and most other soul related places.
  5. That's a quality post Alan. I've never seen or heard of that before. Thanks for joining in pal, I hope you're well. Peter
  6. Afternoon All Some of you may know that Bobby is my number one artist; wow he did so much stuff. I'm just playing some of his stuff and his duet with Van Morrison, Peace of Mind, (2015) came to mind, so I played it. Van has that voice that really does go with Bobby. Obviously a phenomenal artist in his own right - someone I came late to due to my silly "soul music" only mindset. That being said Van has a very soulful voice and some of his cuts could be deemed to be soulful, certainly sings the blues. So, probably been done before, but whose your favourite artist, and do you have any unusual duets that they've recorded. Keep it flexible, just post anything that comes to mind, something that you're feeling today perhaps. Over to you; do the best you can. Peter
  7. Rogers Reef(er).
  8. I'm pretty certain that some of the lyrics in that tune are taken from a "mainstream" soul record but can't quite put my finger on it at the moment. Well done Sebastian for naming that tune. Peter Edit - It could be a Gene Chandler record. It may well be of course that Soul Experience was first with the lyrics.
  9. Is there any need for comments like that? You sure can be prickly when you want to be Kev. Peter
  10. pm'd yer mate.
  11. Hi All Thanks to the site I was able to obtain a number for a soul friend I had lost touch with. As a consequence we were able to have a catch up call last night. We've both had some health issues but apart from that we're all good. Keep in touch with your friends if you can. Life is very short. Thanks to Mike and the site for helping to reconnect us. 12. This is a quality piece; well done Roburt, thanks for taking the time. Peter
  13. Good thread - I can't remember if I've read it before. DTIOOTW - still a favourite, great dance record, from waaaaaay back in the day. Soul Sourcers always deliver. Thanks everyone, it's stuff like this that keeps the site so essential for soul brothers and sisters. Peter
  14. Very sad news - another lovely sister gone. Condolences to John, family and friends. With love. Peter x
  15. And of course Gamble and Huff all over that - the Philly Kings. There's something quite....................................; about those floppy disks. The original floppy disks. I hope you're enjoying the site Lesley - you've soon become part of the team. Interesting stuff from the East Coast. Peter
  16. There's some great German television out there at the moment. I've just finished watching this; some great individual character acting, along with some thrills - Crooks. https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?&q=crooks+netflix+2024+is+what+country&&mid=BB3782D07296536E013EBB3782D07296536E013E&&FORM=VRDGAR Peter
  17. Well done Lesley You'll not get any dud sales etiquette on here. Just a friendly bunch as you say. There's so much more to the site than selling records but I'll leave you to explore, find bits of interests and make new acquaintances. Happy Sunday. Peter
  18. I've run out of likes so; welcome to all the new members, some interesting new faces. Dive in, contribute where you can and most importantly enjoy Soul Source. Best wishes. Peter
  19. Thanks mate. Yep the album was first; it was thought that the 45 didn't exist and then someone found one - or more. I seem to recall that Sean Hampsey knows the story too. I haven't seen Sean on here for ages. He's a good soul man and all round good chap. Peter
  20. Thanks mate, I appreciate that. Peter
  21. Hi Dylan Was that Dean Anderton's show? Can you remember the story enough to do a brief post? Thanks mate. Peter
  22. I'm very sad; and shocked to hear this. Carl's been around for years and has contributed so much to our scene. Condolences to Maria, she must be devastated. I hope that she has some good people who are able to put their arms around her. I'll pray that she will be comforted. God bless. Peter
  23. Yes they do. I'd class Skullsnaps as an oldie - Cleethorpes sound I think rather that over in Wigan. Keep posting mate - welcome to SS. Best Peter
  24. Has Tony Fox - Let Love.......... been mentioned yet. One of my favourite modern tracks - awesome dancer. From memory I think that everyone thought this was LP only for a while, then some 45's showed up. Martin (Sam) spin? I think I may have/had the album at some point but as you know I gave my last collection away a couple of years ago - for nothing. The LP is tough, and the 45 even harder. Peter
  25. Quick feet needed to dance to this - new to me. Thanks for posting and for helping out another member who asked for a sound clip. Peter
