  1. I hope not. It's shite and has nothing to do with soul music - northern or otherwise. Nice
  2. Very similar to yours Mike. Bobby Womack's Home is Where the Heart Is - the lyric, done in Bobby's imitable drawl "You can take the boy out of the country but you sure cant take the country out of the boy".
  3. https://youtu.be/jF_OKw6pHPM
  4. Hi Ian A couple of minters on the bay mate. You've probably seen those. Cheers Peter
  5. PMSL Best days of my life mate.
  6. Ay up mate. I just replied to your like. You were with us that weekend - were you in the minibus back from Leics? it was pissing it down and we ran out of petrol on the Clifton Bridge/fly over. We sent one of the girls to the petrol station. LOL Peter
  7. Hi Alan I saw you looking at the thread. You were one of the lads with us that weekend. Hope yer well mate. Peter
  8. Here's a bit more info - with some posters, from a previous SS thread. Peter
  9. As has been said there were niters at the Palais in the early 80's. Sam, Arthur, Dave Raistrick - Rob Smith as well I think. There were some a few years which were the same time as Notts Odd Fellows - I remember doing Odd Fellows niter on the Friday night - then to some mates flat in notts for the day and then the Palais niter on the Saturday. I remember not fairing too well due to the medication. It turned into a four day disaster involving a dodgy minibus - a tale I shall retell on here at some point. Nice
  10. Quite a few threads on SS about this Brian.
  11. Most charities which operate second hand shops do so with volunteers. Being a "paid" shop manager is viewed as being one of the worst jobs in the third sector - the pay is very poor too. I'm not wishing to be argumentative - just providing a view. I've worked in the third sector for many, many years for lots of different sorts of organisations. Like I said I'm just proffering a view. Nice
  12. Sounds a bit contradictory - Hospices are not run exclusively by volunteers, far from it.
  13. A bit off topic I guess but Oxfam are a good charity in terms of their work, outcomes and maximising any money which is donated to them for their mission. Peter
  14. £50 for the Sean Oliver and the Cunnie Williams is cheap I think. Peter
  15. Thanks Flanny Your post has helped me to understand the thread a bit more. In terms of the question in the thread anything could have been put on a juke box couldn't it? Therefore a nigh on impossible question to answer. Peter
  16. Glue. Sniff and clean. Nice
  17. I don't have a photograph but I've just had a really exciting visitor! Up until about four years ago I had nightly visits from hedgehogs. I used to buy dog food to feed them and was always excited to see them - they're beautiful creatures. All of a sudden they just didn't return - I know their numbers are declining quite alarmingly. Well, just popped out in the garden, put the light on and....................................................... I have a hedgehog! Wahay! I shall stock up with dog food tomorrow. Nice.
  18. Hi Steve Lovely pictures mate. Take this post as a like for all of them! Nice
  19. Hi Folks Got this on cassette somewhere but would like a copy on vinyl - anyone got one at a nice price? Thanks Peter
  20. Sir Dickie if my memory serves me right. Then played by all and sundry - it was a huge record. Peter
  21. Two different presses of this on Jan I think. Peter
  22. And before that Malcolm. Wigan, Clifton Hall, Cleethorpes............................... A serious record. God Bless Alfie. Peter
  23. Sam Dees is a steal - one of the best soul albums ever recorded.
