  1. Catching up on the shows still, great stuff from Dean and the guests. Thanks for continuing to post them up Chalky. Peter
  2. That's a good answer Billy; I got you thinking! You mention Gladys, I am toying, still, with either her of Aretha for my female pick. Based primarily on their amazing voices; not many matches. I'll split the hair before the afternoon is out. Good posts from everyone else too; thank you. Peter
  3. Yep, Harry is a fave of mine; I have the Harry/Understand It on a 12 I bought yonks ago. It's very shabby condition now. Yes, I also agree with the live performance of Harry; I've posted a vid of that on here somewhere, a while ago.
  4. That's a great start everyone; some fantastic picks! I know it's tough guys and gals. I've still got to choose a group and a female artist. I'm always undecided on the same two female artists. Peter
  5. Do you have a favourite artist(s), you might have a few? You might have a favourite male artist, a favourite female artist, and then a favourite group? I know it's a really tough ask to pick just one artist from the myriad of artists that are available to choose from. You can pick more than one to keep the thread going. So, what's your pick, and then, what was the first track from that artist that you heard and then got you hooked. So; I'll kick us off. Bobby Womack is my favourite male artist, and Home is Where the Heart Is, was the first track that got me hooked. Go on, have a go; you can dither and have more than one go if you can't make your mind up. I hope that makes sense......................................
  6. Which fragrance of perfumed talcum powder is the only fragrance permitted to be sprinkled on the dance floor at all niters?
  7. Oh dear. Yes, you're right Simon. She did have an affair with the brother so perhaps I'm in with half a chance? But then again perhaps not. Ah well.
  8. They just splodge it anywhere don't they! Peter
  9. Hey! Bren is my new bird. Leave her alone. She's a fantastic actress; has done quite a bit of theatre/classical stuff. It's probably one of the best tv series, on normal tv for a long time. Thanks to SimonT, on here for giving it an early shout on this thread. Peter
  10. I think the question has been asked/responded to previously on SS. Worth doing again though; I only mention it as some previous contributors may not be around anymore, and a previous search might have more answers/theories. Mods? Peter
  11. I liked Kojak. Did you know that Stavros, was his real brother. Peter
  12. I didn't bother watching this for a bit, I thought it would be a bit tongue in cheek; however, having just finished watching the series, I can highly recommend checking it out. Blue Lights is a television drama series, set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, following three probationary police officers of the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The series was broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, premiering on 27 March 2023; it has been re-commissioned for a second series, which began filming in 2023. Peter
  13. Well, this thread needs some photographs! In the absence of any further brilliance, I will post a couple of extremely poor quality, hardly worthy of the thread, telephone pictures I took today. The first is a new shrub that I planted in my garden this afternoon. It's a Cornus Sibirica, and it was a birthday gift from my friend Preacher Man. It's the first thing I've done in the garden this year. The second two are of Ace, my Doberman rescue dog. He's eight now, still a challenge, but very loving and good company for me. He has bad arthritis in both of his back legs, and is on medication for those. He's ok though, playing and walking. He is very overweight, and will be in boot camp soon, now the weather is improving. I hope they're ok anyway. Peter
  14. So, from what I gather from my very learned friends, there are three known real one's - perhaps one is/was broken, but nonetheless just 3? The record isn't my cup of tea, but it's a very interesting thread. Thanks. Peter
  15. It's certainly an interesting record, rarity or not. I'm stone deaf, but don't connect the record vocally in anyway with IGTP. Just a thought from a simple man. Peter
  16. Can you give us any recommendations? Thanks Peter
  17. Edit; This is definitely worth a watch. Pierre
  18. I think this was my look at Loughborough niters circa 1988.
  19. They were all hot if you danced almost non stop. But yes, it was sweaty, as was Wigan Casino, but I only went there a few times. Peter
  20. Thanks for posting this; I've never seen it before. There are loads of friends and faces on there, some, sadly, who are no longer with us. I was thinking that I must have been there with my main man Terry, and then we popped up on the camera. I can't believe I was wearing my glasses - I must have been driving. Loughborough Town Hall is still there with it's impressive ball room in tact; although the building did have a fire there last year. I worked in Loughborough from 2000 until 2021, and was friends with the old buildings inspector from the local borough council; I've been all over that building, even up on the roof, and that bought back lots of memories. Quite spooky! At the time of this all niter the Market Place still had roads all the way through, it's been pedestrianised for many years now. Lovely memories, lots of good people, a few mullets, quite a few "tashes", and some pretty girls. Thanks again for posting. Peter
  21. Hi Mark I suspect I must have at least known your face back in the days of Leicester Nottingham Odd Fellows all niters. I suspect you must have been a very handsome young man, with your wedge hair cut an all. I haven't done the maths properly; I'm just a thick lad from Lincolnshire, , but I think the 2nd Anniversary must have been the day or so after my 21st birthday (I never remembered that before Simon's post), so I would have been quite handsome too. I would be interested to see your playlist tonight at the Carlton in Lindrick evening tonight, it's a good shout to include some Oddfellows tunes. (If you remember them after) Sending my best my friend. Peter
  22. Thanks for posting the video Simon It's a great video for sure, I bought one from **** quite a few years ago now. There are lots of people on there who were regular all niter goers during the 80's. ******, from Nottingham, is seen smiling and waving in the que at the beginning etc. Most of my friends at the time are on the video, I'm on it somewhere. Shippo, whose no longer with us is on there; too many people to mention. I can't remember whether this was the all niter where the place was evacuated due to a bomb scare; Tony Clayton shouted from the stairs on the way back in; "drop your gear the drug squad are in". It may not have been this particular niter, but it definitely happened at one of the Odd Fellows niters. I'll post up a funny memory later; I've posted it before on older threads, but worth repeating I think. Come on everyone, I know there are lots of SS'rs who were there, you must have something of interest to add. Peter
  23. Ah, thank you everyone, I've run out of likes. I can say with all honesty, and great humility, that all of my friends on here, and the many, many soul people that I know in person, have made my day very special. Just like the music which binds us all together. We have a huge and rich history between us. Thanks again. Peter
