I was interested in that general opinion Steve, particularly your comment "its been into and out of my playbox several times over the years....to no real audience reaction.". I don't recall playing it out when I was playing out. Played it some time ago to a couple of friends at our regular "Play what you've recently purchased / found and drink as much red wine as you can" evenings, all thought it sounded very college band. Likewise googled to only find the silly inflated speculative priced copy, 3 wants on discogs made me query if it was receiving attention. Further search on discogs finds an LP on PIPAS, introducing the Bossmen with the following track list: Tracklist A1 Introduction A2 Simple Song A3 It's Too Late A4 Do Me Right A5 And I Love Her B1 Funky Nassau B2 Cucamonga B3 What You See Is What You Get B4 The Thrill Is Gone B5 Them Changes Further searches on Bossmen rather than 3 Bossmen will find a photo of the inner sleeve of that album: Searching on Bossmen reveals singles on a variety of labels but haven't checked if it's the same as the PIPAS Bossmen/ 3 Bossmen. Has Love Runs Out been booted or is this simply a label photo/scan on a carver. johntefteller had an Ellen and The Shandels Gypsy on La Salle just last week on ebay buy it now for $350 which didn't sell. Credit to JM. I've sold Lauren copies for £100.

There's a boot on Tie too , always has the date stamp on I think as that's the label it was copied from.

Reading Detroit 67, reminded of the origins of the SOUL Label as part of Carmen Murphy's HOB stable. Does anyone know of a discog? Believe The Barons (previously Peppermints which included Lee Rogers and Duke Browner) had a couple of releases on the early SOUL label, also Buddy Lamp under another name, Johnny West.. Hello mate, huge fluctuations by % , just had a look through popsike, several on there at £40-£50 but also a couple £100+!!

It's an odd equation isn't it, the size of the states, obscure ad-hoc distribution networks and discovering rare records that retain that "northern" appeal. Are the records hidden gradually deteriorating? I do think the early diggers discoveries would have been discovered. I also think it's a key part of the scene who champions the tune. Because of the vagaries of defining NS I think to some extent we have always looked to some DJs to tell us what it is at the moment.

label order as that's all I remember, I can picture labels when I cant remember artist or title. When I'm asked "Do you know what this is?" I quite often think I've bloody got one but still can't remember.

Don't think the music choice is hers as a stand in. Would be interested to know how much is policy reflecting media upsurge interest and how much is one random person putting tunes in playlists?

Wish it could be done, constantly surprised that some larger music players are not more aggressive with this, thinking of the legit Motown 7" box sets competing with boots? So tired of the number of boots, but not as tired as seeing them played out.

Intend to be helpful regarding price. About a year ago, perhaps longer got a Blue Rock for £300 which I thought was fair and remain happy with. Couple of months later JM auctioned one for about £360 (from memory) which I thought would've been more given the premium JM value. Not sure regarding comparable Phillips / Blue Rock prices?
