I'll try to say hello on 22 Oct Banner. We don't know each other, it's more case of knowing of you than knowing you for me! I remember Johnny Warner very well, he was still making a nuisance of himself in the Swan in my heyday. Dave Kettle now has a cafe/restaurant over at Ilkeston, Studge goes over there occasionally, I think sometimes Dave even lets him in.

For old times Banner, you may want to know that Steve 'Studge' recently did a reunion night at the Brown Cow. Did you hang around with Eric Etherington ( or was it Hetheringthon) , seem to remember buying an emu disc off you 2 one night in Mansfield. Definitely Eric but think you were there?

I'll take the Temptations -You that I need if still available. Adore this record and my issue isn't script text label.

Will have to check when the MCA issue came along. It was common practice to drop tunes from playlists as soon as widely available, but my memory is not reliable regarding dates, events and playlists.
-
My Ex looking pink demo muffled too. However do agree with above, don't recall this sounding bad when regularly played (for my history 75/76)
-
Looking for a clean playing VG+ (or better) Jimmy Soul Clark - That Aint Cool / You're the Sweetest Thing I Know on D-Town Manship 6th Edition has it at £50, will pay £40-£50 depending on condition. Dean

How much Russ, before it's on auction sites?

I think this is brilliant Kev. I don't agree with all you say and do, you're a person who creates strong opinions, but as an attempt at 70s cool, presumably more than a bit tongue in cheek, sheer class! If anyone had recordings of my conversations at nighters from the 70s and posted them I wouldn't come out for years. We've all done some daft things and I'm sure hearing this is a bit on the cringe-side (8th wonder of the world?) but what the hell, it's funny. I want the album.

Not sure which to sell, don't want to sell both: either for £300. I Won't Let Her See Me Cry / the Secret Philips - VG ++, some air bubbles on label, bb hole on H of Philips, vinyl Ex. Blue Rock - VG+ (slight label scrape on The Secret see Photo) vinyl Ex. will post recorded in Uk inclusive in price, other postage at cost. Prefer PayPal as gift. Dean.

What is a "Reasonable price" for this. I'm aware it has some popularity at the moment. I sold a demo about 6 month ago but can't recall how much for. I've got an MGM issue I can let go but I may want an unreasonable price?
-
VG ++ Mike Watson - I Dig Your Kind / Love is a Losing Game. Rare Canadian Columbia issue C4-2759 label has slight ring wear, vinyl clean (one small mark not affecting play). £120 incl recorded delivery to Uk. PayPal gift preferred .

Thanks for posting, hadn't picked up that news. I always think You Don't Love Me deserves its time in a big room, would fill it .

How long since this (the same one I believe) was last on there, doesn't seem like that long ago although time does play those tricks as we age. I was thinking, all be it a risk, could be worth thinking rather than imagining owning until you die, imagine owning for 2 years and sending it back to John to auction. Speculating on the market of big ticket NS originals? Could have it's own section in the Financial Times, Clinton Up, Wilson down , buy Clinton?
-
That's beyond annoying. If the faker is prepared to do this once then you may well see repeat copies where the label markings become shorthand for bootleg. I also saw this on the net from a couple of years ago with the same label markings; https://www.rootsvinylguide.com/ebay_items/jay-traynor-up-and-over--2 Looking at the other boots on offer I see the Larry Clinton has a Chips sticker on https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-Larry-Clinton-Shes-Wanted-/161933079600?hash=item25b3f6b430:g:Rc0AAOSwSdZWg~Cs . I wonder if this is a sticker or a photo of the sticker on the orig label? I know people on her mock the notion of 'Soul Police' (not that they exist) but I'd be happy for the Soul Police to have power of arrest.

All Sorted - Sounds of Lane (Cobblestone) / Originals - Ain't No Sun
Dean replied to a topic in Record Wants
Wouldn't want to part with originals but can part with Sounds of Lane, will have to check condition. How much? -
I don't have to ask Pete, I just believe in some integrity and am curious of people's opinions of where the blurred line is within others understanding. For better or worse I'm committed to some sense of authenticity when playing to others. Like the Kent Select series I would feel comfortable putting on a record that was a current issue of a historic recording not previously available. Happy new year to you and yours, good start to the year for Wolves!

Just checked it, the Barbara Mason is the same. I'd convinced myself they weren't but the 45 is just a lower tone. Played the 45 and CD on same system simultaneously flicking between. Thanks for info Mike.

Happy to receive the Artic box set from Santa ( I've been a very good boy). Excellent CD catalogue with 6 previously unreleased tracks. 2 questions: ok to play out? IMO really good discs with a few sides worthy of dance floor time. Barbara Mason "He's got to love me" ( nice female floater); The Tiffanys "Lover boy" ( mid tempo stepper); Combo Kings "I'm at my best when I'm down" (real stomper); Kenny Gamble " It takes Two" (mid tempo shuffler) ; The Ambassadors "Doctor Love" ( mid-up tempo beat ballad). Secondly, presuming these legit under licence , would any repro be pursued more vigorously under copyright ? Happy 2016. Dean

Thanks for that, and looks like good news for me. The dead wax on mine reads the same, and looks like yours. I must be getting too sceptical , holding it the colours in the MGM didn't look as sharp as I recalled other issues (will look in my box and check) . Not a big fan of it but didn't want to sell a fake on. Wanna dance appears to be in vogue, sold a demo recently. Mine below. Thanks a lot for the info, Dean

Can anyone confirm any run-out identification on an MGM Issue Roy Hamilton - You Can Count On Me / She Makes Me Wanna Dance. Think I've just copped a fake, label print looks very weak. Thanks, and happy new year to you all apart from dicks selling boots.

I instinctively detest this practice, but what also concerns me is why pay £36+ (3 days to go) when there are several abc reissue copies for £5-£8 available on buy it now, unless the intent is duplicitous, to fool someone into thinking you have a collection when you don't. You can't convince yourself it's the real thing, no matter how poor the lighting near your home deck is. If you want to own the tune on record and can't justify the price tag of the original (I don't have one by the way and probably outside of my justification) why pay more for something you know is just as fakey, if not more so, than the abc copy. The more you try to build a reputation on these boots the further there is to fall when found out, and if you are of the opinion that originals are not important then why not the abc copy? I hope it breaks in the post.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-Willie-Hutch-Love-Runs-Out-/161921009334?hash=item25b33e86b6:g:WmMAAOSw~otWcqQ6 Listed as a 70s Reissue, I'm used to reissue being shorthand for Bootleg but was this booted in the 70s? I recall the abc Willie Hutch / Bobby Hutton 70s release but don't recall a Dunhill Boot at the time? Just curious alongside my usual disgruntled grumpyness.
