  1. Marvin Holmes and Justice, You Better Keep Her, (Brown Door). Are Vinyl with moulded label authentic issues. There's a stamp in run out that looks like TLC inside a square box surrounding letters. Thanks in anticipation, Dean
  2. Seeing some of your other posts I think we share some tastes, a dancer it certainly is/was. Remember a guy I only knew as Pip dancin to this at Warrington, can still see him in my mind, don't know what happened to him though . . . . .Would still like to hear it myself on a dancefloor, although could be a danger these days.
  3. Selling a spare Dry Well - Gypsy / Try A Little Tenderness, LAUREN RECORDS, Ex, Clean label both sides, B side 2 very minor light scuffs, A side very clean. Plays great. Tiny stamp in run out, can't make it out but it's there. Top class old Cleethorpes sound, was also big tune at Warrington Parr Hall, few years after. £80. Postage £2 recorded delivery UK, £4 rest of world Payment by paypal or cheque, post next day for paypal, after clearance for cheque. Only to a good home!
  4. Are the scans good enough to cut out and stick on 70s boots??!!
  5. Feel better now! I'll just keep waiting, agree it's a great sound
  6. just missed one on ebay tonight, trying to get a snap at $28.50 went at $29.50 . . . . . . always the bridesmaid!
  7. Thanks for posting this Sister Dawn, would've missed this, missed first 30 mins but it's on playback. Oooh wait a minute, it's the half-past-forcast, I think Ray has just done the traffic report, traffic flowing fine by the sound of it. Sounding a bit Partridge, but the DKoF playlist is sounding, as you'd expect, blooooooody greeeeaaaaat.
  8. Sounds good Paul, don't recall having heard it before myself. You bringing it along in May, small room big volume!! Agree with the sentiment too. I'm not able to justify affording four figure records so have retreated to the happy place of searching for affordable quality. Kev and I were joking at the weekender that some in my box just might be rare, we don't know 'cos nobody else is looking for 'em! Happiness still comes in 7". Look forward to seeing you soon, Dean.
  9. Just an attempt to solicit any info on the other side of my original question. Then I'll "Give In" and go get my ears cleaned out. Sound file further up thanks to Mak and Sebastian.
  10. thanks for contributing the sound files Sebastian and Mak, still curious
  11. Don't you think the backing sounds very similar too, sounds like you could sing one over the other? I'll get my ears syringed I think
  12. I'll start with the usual apology, sorry if this has been discussed and I've missed it, or if it's so obvious I should be flogged for asking the question..........But ........ Is there a link between Danny White - Keep My Woman Home (Hayes-Porter) and The Webs - Give In (Robert Bateman - Lou Courtney). Both NYC recordings, Atlas and Popside. Too similar to be coincidence?? Sorry unable to post sound, but if anyone can help .......... Just curious. Dean
  13. Not helping but agreeing. Can't put a price on the issue. Did pick up a white DJ Fontana to play at the Attic recently, sounded sweet to hear again, but I would say that wouldn't I as I was playing it.
  14. Just for interest, sorry can't do sound clip. Much prefer Del Royals although that could simply be because I'm not as tired of it. Do like Lou Rawls too but more a home listen, def not a dancer for me. Think Del Royals goes for anywhere £30-£40, not sure about Lou, don't see this exchange much - that could always be because nobody wants it, but what I do in the comfort of my home is my business!
  15. I forgot about that. I was surprised to hear her with Dr Robert on Jonathan Ross radio 2 sat morning a few weeks, or is it months, (time flying as I get older) ago. Not sure if it will still be on listen again feature Chris. See you soon, Dean
  16. Hi Chris. Not much time, got to get down to Attic. There's a real nice "The Immediate Catalogue" EP, Virgin 1980 SV103 (includes Everythings Goona Be Alright) with some nice pics in the sleeve notes. I can bring mine along to Pilsley for you to have for a while, although not under the illusion it's that rare. See you soon, Dean.
  17. Not a big live act fan either, curiosity value and sentimental support for me . . . . .but one that always sticks in my mind was Chuck Jackson at what was the Sherwood Rooms (now Oceana) Nottingham, absolutely great performance, not sure of the year - just the girl I was with to date it! (1982/3?). Got some tapes somewhere of Edwin Starr at Wigan, Jr Walker too, must have a sort out.
  18. If you want to turn a profit now bridget I'll give you £1 for the Delrays ( always enjoy hearing you spin that) .... as for me I'm going to smash and burn my few meagre collectables to make the future even rarer - simple economics. If we could predict trends we'd all be richer and have better collections! Dean
  19. Naaah, couldn't be us, we haven't got any big tunes. Dean
  20. with apologies - just wanted to bump this to see if I could get any further info, will only bump once, Dean
  21. I think with some there's room for doubt, John & Weirdest for example, some boots of this don't you have to hold 'em up to the light to check the colour opaque. I've been caught out in the past and was very thankful to rivolino2 for an email once. I watched a Johnny Hampton - Not MY Girl go through a few days ago for about £150 - £160, wasn't sure about that either, either a bargain or someone ripped off. I don't recall that one claiming to be an orig which this one boldly did, and the Johnny Hampton was listed as the other side which I think raises suspicion like -"oh I don't know what I'm selling". I was initially curious because this appeared obvious and wondered if I was missing something. I did send a message to the high bidder with about an hour to go out of compasion but didn't hear anything. I know it's not unusual but there does seem to be more money than sense. I'm off to get that box of 70's boots from under the bed now. Dean
  22. Has this been a very clever marketing ploy - is it now going to be big in Notts ( / Derbys')? - natural sceptic. Dean
  23. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NORTHERN-SOUL-Billy-...1QQcmdZViewItem There aren't orig dj copies looking like this are there? Happy to be corrected and learn? Dean
  24. Am liking that it's supposedly big in Notts clubs and modern - must be one of the Nottingham Trent University student clubs? Dean - big (6'4") in Notts clubs - or at least I was once.
