  1. Reported this morning, will see what happens.
  2. Trying not be unfair Kev, but i contacted other sellers last night, very reputable in my opinion, who had received 'nothing' feedback and had issued refund for non-delivery. Not feeling so forgiving hence providing name above.
  3. Buys under the thevinylrecords at the moment
  4. No, Chris recognise I should have in retrospect. I tend to have an imaginary barrier at £50 and above for registered signed for, think the total was £48. I don't sell a lot, I tend to buy more, but over the years have just accumulated too many and so sell to fund more expensive purchases. The buyer had already questioned the postage cost as the auction page said I'd post 2 for 1 but the auto ebay system had billed the buyer for £8 (2 x £4) postage, which they'd complained about before I had chance to personalise the invoice. Looking at the feedback and communication with other sellers I'm suspecting that when the buyer receives a record not signed for they claim non-delivery.
  5. I'll put another topic in eBay sales to warn. I've contacted others who had 'nothing' feedback, and similarly they have refunded claims of non arrival. Among the messages I had whilst on holiday regarding (somewhat premature) 'late' arrival of the records I'd sent, the buyer answered that he bought a lot of records from the UK and had not had any postal problems. That is either a lie or the buyer is fraudulent , I suspect the latter.
  6. Sorry Kev I didn't see this whilst typing my responses above covering the same point.
  7. Looking down the feedback I'm wondering if all the times thevinylrecords has put nothing is when nothing has arrived. I mention this because following the link Philippe provided there are 8 'nothing' comments on the first page of feedback, the second page has a more informative 'nothing, thanks for the refund'. I'm starting to smell a con, or either a very very unlucky buyer or crooked postie.
  8. That's interesting, perhaps there is something lost in translation. Thanks Philippe
  9. No, nothing back. I did put return address details on the package
  10. I don't expect him/her to enthuse about what turns out to be a blank/poor deal, but I do expect some courtesy how he/she has been dealt with. At best I think there may be something lost in translation regarding 'nothing'. if a potential buyer/seller sees feedback comments that says 'nothing' it hardly coveys that that the buyer has had a full refund, including their postage, with no questions asked. I sent details confirming proof of postage. I think there's something in this of treat others how you would like to be treated. I'm not sure of the process regarding claiming from the PO (I don't expect ebay/paypal to much help) so asked after I'd refunded if he/she would confirm the non-arrival and refund to support any postage insurance. Oddly I've not heard anything since, which given that I'd had 6 or 7 messages previously over a 12 day holiday doesn't impress me. Dean a.k.a (for the moment) even grumpier
  11. Just like to register the feedback from a French buyer thevinylrecords on ebay: Posted a Marvelettes - I'll Keep Holding On and a Mighty Joe Young - We Love You Baby following ebay auction. I must have had a message every second day on holiday to which I replied to every one saying I would refund when home if still not arrived. Refunded full amount including postage, taking at their word records not arrived. In fairness they have left + feedback but in the comments section they have written 'nothing' , as in the word 'nothing', I'm ever so so slightly annoyed.
  12. I put one on ebay a couple of days ago if still looking: https://www.ebay.com/itm/122142095653?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  13. I was sorting out a few sales tonight for eBay and came across this: I know it's a very average cheap record, but that's not the story. 24/5 Sept 1976, 40 years ago this weekend, I would have just have started at the pit. From memory I caught a bus to Nottingham and started to thumb, although I definitely didn't know the way to Coalville. Travelling alone I Had a lousy trek, one lift got lost and dropped me further back than they picked me up. I can remember French Fries playing as I finally got on the floor, nearly fell over , the floor at Tiffs was very slippy. Funny what we remember and what we forget. Every nighter I went to I bought a record (didn't have cash so always a cheap one), not a great choice but I won't be selling it. There's been a lot of miles since.
  14. Thanks Kegsy, I feared as much regarding paypal.
  15. Has anyone had any recent experience of records missing in the post in France. Recently posted a couple to a dealer in St Ouen L'aumone Ile-de-France , has excellent ebay feedback, records not arrived. I've refunded the buyer, which leads to second question is there any (real) seller protection through paypal? Thanks for any advice, Dean.
  16. Just to say a big thanks to those above, some i was aware of some I wasn't but am now acquainting myself. sometimes forget the obvious, I've got 2 of Dave Godin's deep soul treasures, must pick up the other volumes. Thanks again.
  17. Genuine request: Could some of you more 'in the know' of the deep soul genre post a few of your favorites. I'm looking for less obvious, stuff I may not have come across, but if there's a more obvious stone-dead-favorite that you think is a must listen to then please post that too. Something to make me weep? appreciated, Dean.
  18. Thinking back though I do remember some badges back in the day: I'm a Riker liker! A different type of sponsorship in a different time?
  19. Spotted today on the way to Manchester?
  20. Beware, I'm sure Pete Smith was saying there's a convincing look-a-like out there that I wasn't aware of. Please correct me if I'm wrong?
  21. Could well be common knowledge but just come across this: Yesterday of Our Love - The Soul of Challenge Records.
  22. Not a personal philosophical question just an idle Monday curiosity. Help me out . . . How many soul / blues tunes contain the thoughtful lyric "I love the Life I live, I live the Life I Love" or similar lyrical permutations. Just a silly curiosity. Willie Dixon - I love the Life I Live (also done by Willie Nelson) Muddy Waters - I love the Life I live, I live the Life I Love Willie Parker - I Live the Life I Love Tony Michaels -I Love The Life I Live Junior Walker - I'm a Roadrunner Jerry Williams - Run Run Roadrunner The Magic Tones - It's Better To Love and almost but not quite Mr Floods Party (and other versions) Compared to What Now I' sure II missing some obvious ones that are escaping me. . . fill me in.
  23. Was he previously known as Steve Garner?
  24. Things are not straight forward with Steve's passing, he wasn't straight forward in life either though. I understand there are issues around an inquiry. However for those who who like to pay their respects I believe the funeral arrangements are: Thursday 30 June 11.00 at St Leodegarius Church, Church St, Basford, Nottingham NG6 0GD . Burial at Hucknall Cemetery with a wake to follow at The Bowman, Hucknall, NG15 7PY.
