    JUST HEARD ON THE RADIO, LEAVES 21(?) CHILDREN. . . . . . . . .Mr Lover man.
  2. 3 personal favs: Midnight Thoughts - The World Column (6604), A bit left field but I like it. Crossroads - Coming Home To You Baby (6765), proper rousing northern vocal. The Del-Rays - Fortue Teller (6348)
  3. Ebay account at 20.50 Sunday night: waiting for delivery of 10 Waiting for joint postage reduction to pay for 2 Winning bids on 4 finishing tonight. It's not a problem, I've got it under control, I've just got a bit of cold this week. I have times I try to quit but then think I don't want to.
  4. I was stunned by Masqueraders. I thought I recalled JM auctioning on a year or so ago for about £400. But then looked on popsike out of curiosity and saw one went for $1224 back in 2007. There's no real price only what two people will pay.
  5. message sent Jolly. . . . . . . and thanks Cunnie
  6. Good on you Mossy, bit of a steal. Hope it's in good enough condition. Think it would've gone for more if the seller had listed the right artist!
  7. Ouch, that makes me feel better.
  8. My "All's fair" statement was only meant to refer to genuine buyers. Obviously not this practice. Only experienced (or suspected) this twice in several years, is it more prevalent on reggae buying?
  9. I can quote a few I've lost to you. All's fair in record bidding, best of luck Pete.
  10. I can mostly smile about it. Your right you never know what the top bid is and if you would only succeed in bumping up the price for the top bidder rather than winning. I seem to go through stages where I'm always the second highest bidder and I end up thinking "if only person x would hadn't been looking". Silly I know but it's an often held thought. Doesn't feel so bad when there's 3 or 4 bidders above you. It's only vinyl
  11. Only to entertain myself for a few minutes.: Being a tight arsed bargain hunter I'm always on the watch. I've seen a couple of threads recently about 'Last 5 bought' and 'bargains'. Not that these are the most frustrating to me (if I was that bothered I'd bid more), these are just the last 5 I've missed on ebay by one late bid. There are some bargains out there; Barbara English - Sittin in the Corner: AURORA, bid £52 went for £53. Great and clean, X felt tip on label. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400155489612&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT LaBrenda Ben - Just Be Yourself / I can't Help it: Gordy white promo. Bid $14 went for $14.50. Looks a good VG+ https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220671888272&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT J. B. Troy - Live On: Musicor. This was interesting, seller lister as J. B. Hunt - Live On. Bid $83 went for $84. Only rated as Vg but looked ok. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290476878008&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT Bunny Sigler - Will You Love Me Tomorrow / Comparatively Speaking: Decca Issue. Bid $31 went for $32. Sated as nea mint and looked near mint. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270636567824&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT Nolan Porter - If I Could Only Be Sure - Probe (Peruvian Issue). Bid $42 went for $43, VG+ good Peru sleeve too, nice curiosity. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320587376448&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT How many times do you sit and think if it wasn't one other buyer I'd have got right bargain there!!
  12. ACCEPTABLE bootleg, did someone just light some blue touch-paper
  13. I'll take it that neither track is on a compliation then . . . .
  14. erm......... to answer my own question, it got a release on Tamla. Curiosity led me to pic up the picture sleeve from John Manship's list. I've been outbid on everything I was interested in on ebay so just fancied buying something. Didn't read it well enough and was pleasantly greeted this morning with a USA Tamla pic sleeve. Tasty.
  15. Wow, timewarp stuff. Previous post 22 Sept 2007, 3 years drift by . . . . . . . twilight zone!!
  16. Don't know anything about this, not recommending it, just seen it on Sheffild Showroom cinema site: https://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/wigansworld Apologies if it's already in one of the other threads about the movie, I got bored with those. Mark Wigan Williams is an artist, writer and educator. A prolific graphic artist, his drawings and paintings have chronicled and celebrated international underground club cultures. Mark's 'Wigan' nickname was derived from regular visits to The Wigan Casino Soul Club in the 1970s and early 1980s and his allegiance to the Northern Soul Scene. His drawings and paintings have chronicled and celebrated international underground club cultures. To coincide with the release of the film SoulBoy set in the Northern Soul scene of the 70's at the Showroom Cinema on Friday 3 September, the Workstation is exhibiting a selection of Wigan's works, including prints, paintings, drawings, animation and film inspired by worldwide nightclub culture. Exhibition launch: Friday 3 September from 5.30pm. The exhibition in the Workstation is open to the public: Monday-Friday, 8.45am-8pm. 03-27 September FREE Mark Wigan's work will be available to purchase.
  17. Amongst the plethora of Motown CDs from the vaults that are around now, does anyone know if there's one with Bob Babbitt - Gospel truth or Running Like A Rabbit. included. This was unissue SOUL S35101 from 1973. I can't see one. Several years ago when I'd just started buying again and got into ebay I saw an acetate of Running Like A Rabbit go through but missed it (not being used to ebay bidding at the time). Big regret that one. It may be rubbish, never heard either track, just want to satisfy my curiosity about the sound. Bob was (is?) a great respected bass player on some of Motowns great tracks as well as other soul items (including Darrell Banks and J J Barnes) Discography here: https://www.bobbabbitt.com/disc.htm makes impressive reading and just increases my curiosity of what his own track would sound like.
  18. It got a UK TMG release in 1970, Manship has some pic sleeves for sale at £15, did it get a US release on any subsiduary? Agree about the quality.
  19. THE CARSTAIRS - IT REALLY HURTS ME GIRL - RED COACH VG/EX 20 Clicks all the way through the intro I'm afraid - I counted 13 rotations Just waiting for the comments to come in!
  20. Thought this worth sharing just for interest: watched a couple of Bobby Treetop - Wait Till I Get To Know Ya on TUFF, both look genuine to me. They finished less than an hour apart: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170538610903&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Finished first at $43 (+$8 pp) https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330471740348&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Finished shortly after at $102.50 (+$6 pp) Both listed as VG but second looks slightly better. There's another with 3 days to go still at M-, currently up to $113.50 https://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Northern-Soul-45-BOBBY-TREETOP-Wait-Till-I-on-Tuff_W0QQitemZ260665443952QQcategoryZ306QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSI%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%252BFICS%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D330471740348%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5568593825886161320 Just thought it was a good reminder of the link of price and condition.
  21. I put a thread up a few months ago about some boxes in B&Q. They hold two rows of 7". Not great quality, so not for traveling but good enough for home storage. I think if you find a post by Pete Smith his pic is (his daughter I would imagine) looking in a record box like the ones currently in B&Q. I thought I'd spotted something new but loads of folk already knew about them.
  22. I like to think that my Right On false teeth overnight sterident soaker is quite hip. I was at V festival over the summer, more Northern Soul shirts than band shirts. Similar to other posts, my son Joe is 20 - he threatens to buy me one but only as a joke. He wouldn't get one for himslf as he knows how much it would entertain me, and that's the last thing he'd want to do. I think NS is up there with SuperDry as a label at the moment, and just as relevent to the kids wearing it.
  23. I'm less liberal in my older years . . . . . . . .should've f'in burnt.
  24. A bit late to this thread. Just remembered to dig out mine to have a check. Good shout on the BJD stamp. If mine's genuine (it has stamped SK4M - 2632 - 1), the BJD stamp is quite deep and very fancy letter design, like in calligraphy. Good call too Toad. The flip, Something's Bothering You, is well worth a mellow spin.
  25. Saw your name on the Crosswind Cunnie . I put a speculative bid on that early on. Obviously a bit too optimistic on that one. If the £13 is real it goes to show it may be worth putting a speculative bid on something sometimes. That's happened before to me on JM, where I've wished after the close I would've bid. Of course that may only push the price up, doesn't mean I'd have won.
