  1. funny double standards I have over boots, you can drive a bus through my logic but somehow a 70s boot of this tune that's so difficult to own doesn't seem so bad ass . . . . . . as long as you promise never never to play it out to a floor. 70 boot going through ebay now with 30 mins left https://cgi.ebay.com/TOMANGOES-REALLY-LOVE-YOU-northern-soul-mod-/320663290305?pt=UK_Records&hash=item4aa90581c1 currently £14
  2. 4 more from me . . . . just not as big as the one above (or perhaps over by now) Grover Mitchell - Loving You Danny White - Cracked Up Over You Len Barry (again) - 1-2-3 Ray scott - The Real Thing
  3. Picture flatters a little. Pic looks Ex I'd say more VG+(maybe ++) in the hand. Label clean with slight rim wear on raised edge. Vinyl has a few marks across but is 90% clean, plays EX. Rarer on issue I believe, and there's an even scarcer pic sleeve. I saw your pm and you can have this for your offer +£5 inclusive of 1st class postage. Not trying to hard-bargain but not desperate to off load this one. Do need to move some though. No pressure if you want to think on it or wait and see if you get a better deal. Dean
  4. I've got a Okeh demo, am at work and wouldn't like to state definitive condition but remember it being clean. If you still want it at about 5pm I'll post a pic and suggest a price or listen to your offer.
  5. Mmmmm, there's a puzzle, especially as Kev says his is left side. I'm afraid I can't offer any insight, I'll have a close look and see if there's any other detail contained on disc.
  6. Grover Mitchell - Take Your Time And Love Me (great mid-tempo version of the beatier Josie version) Grover Mitchell - I Gotta Keep Movin and finally for now. . . . not everyone's cup of tea but such fond memories of this oldie, still like to spin it at home occasionally Len Barry - You Baby
  7. A few more while I'm on . . . Leon Haywood - You Don't Have to See Me Cry (think Kev H played this at The Attic before I picked it up) Bunny Sigler - For Cryin' Out Loud (nice on issue, thanks to Pete Smith) The Patrick Bradley - Just One More Chance (still favourite inst dancer)
  8. Another Tony Ashley - I'll Never Be Satisfied . . . . well worth looking up
  9. Soul Synchronicity . . . . .was just talking about this tonoght Mike. Steve and Kev around here for our monthly playing over new purchases and bemoaning the demise of The Attic soul club we ran. These mid-week evening sesions are just about the best thing we got out of the Attic, a few very good, like-minded, friends sharing a deck to play each other a wide array of soul music, some of it even 'northern' enough to entertain the baggies (not a West Brom reference). Opinion was passed around the table, over several bottles of wine (gone the days when bitter or mild was the only offering), prompted by Steve L that Sunday sessions was the way to go. Debated the "Chill out" session and the more relaxed play-list, leading into the evening dance floor session. We agreed (all be it over several bottles) that this may be the way to go. Not taking anyhting away from the solid Fri/Sat nighter as the cutting edge, just a more sedate less physically demanding listening event. The play list for tonights front room session would be a good start, thanks lads, loved the tunes.
  10. I've got a tape with Searling introducing it as Burning Bush by Burning Bush, I can't recall date but it woul be well after Ginger first palyed it.
  11. Yes Dave, same as yours. 2 x 45s with the 5 tracks across two discs. Soul-Sider, don't know how scarce these are. My thoughts were not scarce at all, but then questioned myself when I realised I'd not seen anyhting around for a long time. That's waht prompted the thread, was curious as to how common they are. It should've come as part of two disc set though. The cover is the bit worth having in my opinion.
  12. Didn't expect them to be fetching money, but £7 seems a little thin. I'd not looked at this for a while and thought it was quite an attractive package as an item. Was just thinking that I don't see them in sales boxes or ebay. The again I hardly look at UK ebay these days.
  13. Surely these can't be scarce? Just sorting through old boxes and realised I never see them at all these days. The Immediate Catalogue 5 track 7": Angel of the Morning Everything's Gonna Be Alright The First Cut is the Deepest (If You Think You're) Groovy The Time Has Come Has some great pics of her on the gatefold sleeve. Am I just not noticing and these are all around?
  14. Needing space and spending too much, several of these are multiple copies I have for some reason (addiction!) Joe Phillips - I Just Can't Help Thinking About You (Omen promo) Ex = £50 Very strong haunting Northern Ballad Jerry Ganey - You Don't Love Me (MGM DJ) VG several light scuffs and marks, label unmarked just slight grubby, plays great = £40 Wonderful room filler of a sound, deserves more plays in bigger rooms. SOLD Jerry Fuller - The Killer (Challege promo) VG++ almost Ex apart from one minor slight scuff =£40 JM auction rated as his rarest? Not out and out Northern, but if you fancy a little northern blend into latin this is a great one for the box. Teddy Randazzo - You Don't Need a Heart (DCP) VG+, vinyl better, slight water damage on label, flip label slight worse = £40 The Moods - Rainmaker (Wand DJ) VG++, number 4 inmarker on Rainmaker side, flip label clean = £25 The French Fries - Danse A La Musique (Epic promo) Ex = £20 SOLD Crossroads - Coming Home to you Baby (ATCO promo) sleeve torn on one side Ex = £20 Another wonderful belting room full of sound deserving more play The Spaniels - Maybe (Buddah) VG, label faded and several light minor scuffs plays great = £15 David Ruffin - Rode By The Place (Motown) would be Ex but for name in marker both sides = £15 Little Anthony - Hurt So Bad Ex £6 Gayle Harris - Aint Gonna Let It Gert Me Down (DCP) looks Ex BUT see below = £5 WARNING - THIS LOOKS GREAT BUT THERE'S A LOUD HISS FOR ALMOST A THIRD OF THE RECORD, WOULDN'T BE SUITABLE TO PLAY OUT, more use to label collector or display, shame it's a great tune. UK postage £1 first class (£3 recorded) Europe £3 World £5 Paypal ok or any cash arrangment you wish to make. Full refund if sent notice within 3 days of receipt If more than one person wants I'll go with first pm or post on thread, whichever earliest. I'll combine shipping. Dean
  15. That would be a good collection Smudge., the red box. Might try it as a request . . . . . . . . "Can you play a red record mate?"
  16. Wasn't expecting much of a response, could be no news is good news . Check in books later.
  17. One finished on ebay over the weeknd for about that price Pete. Something in me was tempted but the seller didn't accept paypal and I don't like handing out credit card details too much. Can never make my mind up about it, I like it but think I shouldn't. There's something about the chorus hook that reminds me of arms aloft in a large halland happy nights. By the way new website looking good, I'm keepin an eye.
  18. How much was Other Brothers, and can you bring it round to the next wine and crisps night to play?
  19. Picked this up and been enjoying it at home. Written by J Jame, sung by J Jame on JJ Records. Strong gospel influence but great voice and tune in my opinion. Good enough to play. At work so no ref books, tried on-line but no info. Anybody come across this? . . . . . . not expecting a huge response, just interested.
  20. Sorry didn't spot the value? at first sight. JM auctioned a Crosswind some time last year and I think it went for £100+. Cunnie (on here) did me a favour spotting one for sale (again on here, from Jolly I think) for £50, I think that was a cheap price given foreign interst in these.
  21. I've pasted a post from Mike back in August onto other thread regarding this that has some of the 87 modern soul releases listed. Credit to Mike not to me.
  22. Mike posted this list in Aug 10. I think Cunnie Collects these too, he put me onto Crosswind Get ready which i still enjoy at home very much. Budweiser Label Listing For a change here's some info on one of the 80s collectable labels. Budweiser Showdown label came into being due to the beer people holding a competition, each area would have a contest with the winning group having their song pressed onto record and entering the national competition. It ran for about 7 years in the 80s and as you can imagine had a varied mix. Listed below are 25 of the best modern type soul ones. This label is also very popular in Japan with some commanding 3 figure prices PRESTON A.
