  2. Same thing happened to me. Last few months record from France failed to arrive and another from Italy. I'm sure the problem is down to the postal service and not the individual, however, based on this and the experiences of others I have now decided to restrict my buying and selling to UK/US only. This has cost me a couple of sales already but having to make a claim against a seller for a 'not received' is not nice and I would not like to find myself in a similar position.
  3. PM'd you Pete

  9. Mick - what a fantastic site! Many thanks for link.
  10. I danced to it. So, probably, did the vast majority of us who attended Wigan Casino in the early years.
  11. This was a manic dancer in its day, and always filled the floor at WC. Not something I would want to hear today, but there's no denying its place in history.
  12. "Al Wilson's - Help Me - was "THE CASINO" @ 3.00am".. and 4.00am, and 5.00am, and 6.00am and usually on the same night :-) Huge record at the time and brings back fond memories.
  13. Enjoyed Betty Wright but Cyndi Lauper stole it for me with that first song - 'Shattered Dreams'? - absolutely brilliant!
  14. Nice to hear that the 'scene' is radical as ever - people queueing outside the Wheel at 3pm whilst most normal folks are eating Sunday lunch - Whoah! Another missed opportunity to illustrate how the scene has progressed over the last 40 years. The Snake sounded great though didn't it?
  15. Agree WD best. Also be aware it plays very fast. Needs pitching down a fair bit to to sound right.
  16. Agree with a lot of what has been said re gradings. Something I also consider important is to know where the seller resides. Only two non receipts I have experienced came from the same country. May not be the sellers fault - blame may lie with the postal system - but it's one of a number of areas that many US dealers won't post to unless recorded/insured due to problems. Members used to have their location in their profile, but no longer. If you are selling on here, at the very least, the Country you are selling from should be displayed in thread and/or profile.
  17. Sorry, were you expecting something else? Last reply from me. I've no intention of helping you to raise your postcount.
  18. Such people are found in all walks of life, however some venues seem to attract more than their fair share. If you don't mind rubbing shoulders with them then that's your choice. Just don't expect me to do the same. And no, I have never been to Blackpool or Tenerife and I can't see myself making plans to do so anytime soon.
  19. There was a name for it in the old days... "DIVS". Seems to be a lot more of them about now.
  20. PM'd you Dennis :-)
  21. Buddy Lucas - great record and well cheap!
  22. Was at a night a couple of months ago and noticed a slightly eccentric looking individual approaching the decks and asking the DJ to play a record out of the small box that he was carrying. The DJ declined but that didn't stop him trying again throughout the course of the night. Most people considered this a strange phenomenon, but it took me back to the early days of Wigan when this was fairly normal behavior. Quite a few records were played in this way after the DJ had given it 30secs on the headphones first. Anyone else remember this?
  23. Always danced at the front, only reason as others have said was to keep an eye on cassette recorder in bag. I had boxes of those cassettes but chucked them all out when we moved house around 1991. Got back into the music in '95 and deeply regretted their loss.
  24. I wasn't addressing BOS - I was replying to Pete's specific point.
  25. Agreed Pete. There are artists that have produced dozens of records, out of which I may only like one enough to have in my collection. Others may have produced a number of records on a particular label that I like, but wouldn't give the time of day to their output on other labels. A liking for a particular tune does not automatically mean a liking for the artist in general.
