  1. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It would be great if it shrank and was refreshed and some of the deadwood left to drift out to sea" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't think many would disagree with that. Problem is they all view someone else as being the deadwood :-)
  2. Vols 1 and 3 are the two that I've got. Used to buy a lot of CD's back in the day and never bothered with 2 and 4 so guessing they're not as good?
  3. I think you could be right re Billy Washington and Little Mason - they are on a gold/red D'oro label. Have only seen white demo of Vivian Copeland and that was distributed by Atco/Atlantic New York.
  4. Does anyone have a discography, or any other information re this label? I'm aware of the following few: 1002 - Vivian Copeland - Cushion the blow 1005 - Vivian Copeland - I don't care 1303 - Billy Washington - Do you really love me 1303 - Little Mason - Long Loving Daddy 3500 - Vivian Copeland - He knows my key Have seen scans for 1303 and this number does appear to have been duplicated.
  5. For the money you can't beat the Swan boxes, but be aware the 100 box holds 80 records in card sleeves. Blacka Acoustics don't do themselves any favours. No prices on the website. Phone up and you get some guy on the factory floor who doesn't know the prices and the person in the office who does is always out. They may be good boxes but the poor first impressions don't inspire confidence. I gave up in the end and bought another Swan box.
  6. From what's been said it doesn't sound as if RD is a worthwhile option any longer. 1st class or SD for me from now on.
  7. Seem to be a number of variations already on what should be a seemingly straight forward system. I recently sent a book 1st class Recorded to SE of UK. Posted on a Monday - took three days to get there. Tracking said it was still in the system when I got an email from the buyer to say safely rec'd. He hadn't been able to sign for it as the paperwork had been mislaid by the PO?? (Don't quite understand that bit as it's digital) Tracking still doesn't indicate delivered.
  8. Every time I receive a recorded item it just gets pushed through the letterbox. No knock at the door, no request for signature. The postman is a good guy and I get on well with him. When I asked him he said they don't bother with a signature these days. Is this everyone else's experience? PS I should add that we have about three different posties who sometimes alternate and they all do it the same.
  9. With a razor blade?
  10. I would reply but I'm currently engaged in an important task..
  11. ...cutting 200 paper sleeves to size with a razor blade, 'cos they were too big to fit in the card ones. Next time I might ask before buying

  13. "You are right. There are too many do's. But thats because over the past 10 or 15 years there have been too many people coming back on to the scene and suddenly deciding to become dj's and start their own do's. This is not a criticism. It was bound to happen as more and more people returned to the scene". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dunno about that - a lot of attendees seem to be people with no history on the scene treating it as some sort of middle aged disco.
  14. "I avoid the GEMMS, Musicstack and the likes, over-priced, badly described and no way to get refunded (the mark of a good seller)". What an astonishing statement. The purpose of these sites is to allow access to a significant number of sellers with a single search. Why would they be more badly described than anywhere else? Gemm makes more guarantees than any other seller I've ever dealt with. Pricing is always going to be subjective, but how can you believe that eveything on these sites is overpriced?
  15. Dennis - Light storage wear for me would probably comprise of a brown dustcoat and trousers. Heavier storage wear would be overalls and steel toecap boots. Fleece jacket optional with either during winter months. Hope this helps..

  24. Big Joe Turner - Two loves have I. Just perfect for a bit of Vic Reeves 'club style' frivolity . Larry Clinton - She's wanted.... state 1 being monotonous, state 2 being repetetive, state 3 being
