  2. "I seem to remember Brian Rae being credited with finding it on a Budget Cd on the the counter of a US Gas Station? I might be wrong"? May well be right. Brian used to play another Japanese CD track by The Ovations - What did I do wrong, covered up as "Moaning and Groaning". Cracking track that never made it to vinyl as far as I know.

  6. Agree with SHEFFSOUL - I was wearing solatios in '74 along with baggies, which were not a fashion item at the time. The only way to get them was to have them made to measure at a local tailors, in my area Burtons or Hepworths. When they started to become available commercially I stopped wearing them. I stopped going to Wigan shortly before the 3rd Anniversary and was wearing at that time Falmers jeans, Wrigleys belt, Green flash tennis shoes, cap sleeved T Shirt and Foster Grant graduated sunglasses.... Nice! :-) Inbetween times there were bowling shirts (original American imports) which were later copied and also made available on the High Street, Hawaiian shirts, neckerchiefs, whistles, baseball caps etc The clothing was like the music at the time - ever changing. Have never really been sure why the oversize trousers have been chosen by the retro crowd as the clothing of the time - they really weren't around for that long in the beginning.
  7. If anyone from Europe wants to buy, I'm happy to post to a UK address that may be willing to forward it on. A couple of issues with records getting lost in the post led me to conclude that I was no longer willing to post direct. Hope this answers your question.

  11. Brilliant - huge respect for Paul Mason - you could tell it came from the heart. If anyone has the facility to copy this to disc for me, I'd be grateful - more than happy to cover costs, post etc.
  12. Ah well, there's nowt wrong with being an optimist. I was hoping for something contemporary but Russ, Sandy Holt (cartwheels?) along with Frank wilson, Marc Almond and a variety of Youth Club anthems playing in the background put payed to that. Nice to hear Bud Harper though. My hopes for the future are now focused on Elaine Constantines film.
  13. Radio 4 Sat 21 September @ 10:30. "Annie Nightingale travels to Japan to explore the growing cult appreciation of Northern Soul..." Sounds interesting - nice to see a different slant on the subject.
  14. Still available to buy from amazon, but instead of showing number in stock it's stating 'usually dispatched within 1 to 4 weeks'. Looks like the first batch went quickly ;-)

  16. DAVE K - Thanks for reply re Jelly Beans. Can anyone help with how often it was played during early years?
  17. Interesting to see Jelly Beans in that list. I didn't go every week, but went pretty often for the first three years and don't recall hearing this. Was a 'new' tune for me when I got back into things in the early 90's. Did it get many plays during that time?
  18. Love them or hate them, I guess that the sheer number of 'local do's' and 'local dj's' are an important factor in sustaining record sales within the UK? I'm not a record dealer, but many I speak to tell me that overseas markets are where the real business is nowadays. Maybe someone with greater knowledge than myself could offer an opinion.
  19. Loveables - Great tune!!!
  20. Friend has asked me to find a copy (Ex+ or better please) Expecting to pay around £20 Appreciate replies by PM please.
