  1. Grey issue is my preference. Think the one in JM's auction maybe rarer copy. Agree with comments though, most people probably aren't fussed either way.
  2. Do the different label designs achieve different values?
  3. Just received record in post with edge chip extending to first groove on run in. Any advice for carrying out a repair? Have fixed smaller chips with araldite/black paint mix in the past, but can't see it working this time due to size of chip and length of time it takes for araldite to go off.
  4. Not a big fan of commercialisation myself but have you seen EC's film?
  5. Used to be able to dance to most things but these two always defeated me. Duettes fits the bill of 60's Northern, Slim Harpo more current R&B style. EDIT - Seems to be a problem with Duettes clip. Just press pause then play and it works ok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNF7wz2CfBk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GrtkepD18Q
  6. I'd rather they hadn't made this advert, but it pales into insignificance compared to many of the photo's on here in members albums. That is where the true horror lies
  7. Wow - how good was that! Thanks for putting that up.

  12. Can't remember skylights, but I do remember a window in the gable end (opposite end to stage) with a window partly covered by black polythene that was coming adrift and let in light during summer.
  13. It's billed as comedy drama..... can't argue with that.
  14. Don't know why people are shocked over this. For years this scene has been a parody of what it once was. One or two there who looked like they may have attended do's in the past and attempting some 'serious dancing' are the ones who let it down. The rest looked like they were just having fun.
  15. In my opinion, having now seen the film, Soul Boy is very much the poor relation. Only criticisms of NS were as others have said - clean, bright empty toilets at WC and swearing down the mike. My first experience of this came much later. There may have been others but Nogger and Chris King spring to mind during early nineties. All in all I thought NS captured an experience that I can fully relate to during the first three years, apart from the luxury of travelling by car. All my journeys were by train which of course involved running the gauntlet up Station Road on the way there. Saw a number of people getting 'rolled' on the station the way home as well (for clothes as well as money). There was definitely a dark side, which meant you needed to have your wits about you at times, but never to the extent that it clouded what was a fantastic experience which I think is mirrored in the film where, despite everything that happened, the characters retained their love of the music.
  16. First job on leaving school and waiting to go into RAF was in a small factory. I was seventeen at the time. Production was mainly men, assembly was women. Believe me I came out of the assembly room blushing from head to toe on more than one occasion! Favourite thing was to try and de-bag young lads and the innuendo was mind blowing.. Tattoos weren't as prevalent as today but they were certainly around at the time. Lots of my friends in the forces had them, plenty of black fists, record labels and pharmaceutical companies on display at WC from '73 on. I had an ear ring - many of my friends had them. Seem to remember them being pretty common in 1974. Only thing was to have the left ear pierced. Right ear intimated you were gay, or so we believed at the time.
