  1. I don't usually put anything up on such a sad thread as this, but in this instance i feel i must. I can remember it well, Denton Youth club, 1970's and The Chairman of the board were great fav's, If i an honest and admit it they were the probably the band that made me take my first steps into my life long love of our music. God bless you Norman and rest in peace General...Thanks.... John
  2. Pete top top quality thanks..John
  3. I sometime's wish this record had never been recorded, top sound though it is, played since the late seventies and never off a turntable since...But it creates more debate than any other item, not just records i can think of...Come on guys as someone said earlier this horse has been flogged to death lets find another record we all like to dislike eh??? Cheers John
  4. Marc, Thanks for the info, I agree the two track on the latest disc are top quality ( are they unreleased Motown?) I think these will be just as collectable as the Kent singles in time...Cheers John
  5. Thanks I will,,,,,mark?
  6. Hi. Just got a copy of the Rita Wright, with J.J Barnes b side anniversary disc from the Hip City Soul Club. I know there are a couple more e.g The Sensations? Does anyone have a full list of the them? Thanks John
  7. The first link is the one i recall, certainly different and much better imo....Cheers John
  8. Thanks for that Dave it looks like at least two of us have a reversed copy, I thought it was a boot as well, as i have peelable label copy, as i understand it a boot also...the reason i now have this (my third) copy is i "lost" a moulded copy whilst DJing, i found the peelable in its place in my box....mates ha?
  9. I have a story about this record, but the upshot is i have a styrene copy with a peelable label, today i picked up vinyl copy,...but the tracks are reversed, ie the Crazy baby side has the b side label and vice versa, anyone else got one like this?..The story is for another time
  10. Fortunatly Mr Blue Skys isn't on the CD, but you get a nice litlle 4" single of Love is alright with it.
  11. Thanks for the interst guys, A carver was my first thought until i found out about the 4", as i said i now have two now and accept they are all faulty in some way. Pity really.
  12. Yeh, I thought it was going to be a nice to have, in fact it is, its just a pity as you say the vinyl is poor and there's the noise at the end...So I've got one to sell!!!!!
  13. Last week i bought the Mayer Hawthorn cd "A Strange Arrangement" from Amazon, The good bit it came within two days...The bit that gutted me was the 4" vinyl single Love is alright, really the reason i bought, was faulty for the last 2 seconds or so. S*it thought i so i bought another one which arrived today..Unfortunatly it has the same problem Has anyone got one that's not got the iritating schoooo schooo a la damaged record two seconds from the end..oh and I'm sure there two little clicks built in half way through Cheers John
  14. Hi, This topic has had me thinking over the years!! I heard "LeeRoy, Tears", on a web radio show the other night which sounded slightly less frantic then the MCA reissue, don't know if it was a remix, or it was speed up for Northern plays when a Wigan spin which then got issued at the palyed out speed, can anyone confirm wheather the speed is differant on the Decca release..
  15. What about Game Players Dooley Silverspoon wasn't that supposted to ba a taylor made???
  16. Don't be daft!!! She must be She couldn't dance to Northern Soul if someone paid her to, she's a sh*t dancer but i would aswell ...(din't watch it before ui made my first comment)
  17. Also the "b" side on UK RCA of Shoo Ra Shoo Ra
  18. Yep Guys thats the one i got from Warrington Parr Hall way back, with Eddie on the other side...Even though its printed "test pressing" i am convinced they were as it says on the tin a "pressing" Sorry to spoil it if i am correct, the consolation is i have one as well. In fact for some reason I have this on the white "pressing" the Underworld 7" the reissue with Cheaters on the other side and CD with it on!!!! Another point, could this be the first example of a pressing/boot of a 12" single for the Northern scene? can't think of an earlier one!! Cheers John p.s I nearly bought the Frank Wilson version a few months ago from King Bee Records in Manchester. but when i listened to it i thought it didn't compare with old Skips original....I may buy it along with a Salsoul original t o complete the set
  19. There is a boot of Janice about as well. white lable, which i bought at Warrington Parr Hall all nighter a good few years ago. deffo a boot 12" sold by one of the *j's!!!!! at the time. Mine had a warp, did they all? Cheers John
  20. You're right again Ernie...Thanks for that, saves me going down the cellar to dig it out. "Cheaters" is a cracking modern sound in its own right, got it on US Salsoul as well....Cheers John
  21. I mean the Underword issue. I also have a British Salsoul reissue 12" with Cheaters never win on the "b" side, sorry the groups name escapes me at the moment, cos there has been a rash of Salsoul double sided reissues over the last few years it seems....Cheers John
  22. Yes I have the 7" of this. My mate Steve has the 12" which he bought at the time of its release, white lable but with the release lables inside the sleeve to stick on yourself!!!! Cheers John
  23. Ben E King has got to be the "king" of double versions. What about The Record, Ben E and H.B Barnham, Smooth Sailing The Temptaions and Ben Es version Bens win on both accounts for me.. Cheers John
