Nocker, on 25 Mar 2011 - 12:01 PM, said: When it came out on Underworld the 7" had a white label with the printed one in the bag to stick on later, at lease some did as my mate Steve B had one, in fact i think he still has it with the lables in the bag. Cheers John The Underworld 12" came with labels attached (or mine did), was the 12" any longer than the 7? Got it indoors somewhere but sure I'll forget all about it to check by the time I get home Sold my US 7" on here a year or two back for 100quid but took a long time to shift it Yeh mine has labels attached to the 7" may just have been Stevie's. Also a white label 12" boot was knocking about during the Warrington Parr hall era, i got one there. Its been reissued by Salsoul, and a Soulvation labeled copy is doing the rounds if i'm not mistaken hence demand is well supplied in my view thats why there is a slowness selling them. Cheers John Oh forgot also a version by Frank Wilson as well....

Not soul pack this but in the late 70ts Dave Stubbs in Hyde market used to knock out singles, all sorts pop. rock, soul etc at 30, yes thirty, records for a quid! i picked up loads of seventies soul. now collectible tracks, one that springs to mind is Choice of Colour, which goes for upwards of 100 quid now. (I binned a load of C&W as i took a punt on unknowns!!) I am sure others in the area got just as much as me, I used to go home with carrier bags full. also at the time John Hillel was doing "job lots" in his shop in Ashton Under Lyne dirt cheap but not in Dave's league, picked up loads there and John hates it when i remind him and show him a disc's i bought for peanuts from his store. Cheers John

Saw this post Saturday night, the night after it finished, does anyone know if it is on again or if its on anywhere else? Cheers John
-
The second version was a freebie for a Mecca reunion about 12 years ago, in my view its better then the first version, I seem to remember Ian saying he never got to finish the first version so went back and added strings etc for the freebie Cheers John

Again I am not saying anything about CDs, boots, reissues or who plays what, where or what for. Its about a first UK issue of a track that hasn't been issued in the UK before. And again some Grapevine, Destiny etc fit the category i am stating, forget Capitol, Action and the others i know these are 60ts originals as per our acceptance. Am i the only one who believes some of the tracks i have highlighted are UK originals, if i am thanks for listening and I'll get me coat? Cheers John
-
Thanks guys for the reply's and views, but just to get back to my first points My question isn't about bootlegs or £2k sounds which are no doubt originals or if what i am asking should be played at top nights etc. as everyone knows that's where demand is built up as a result of top dollar sounds as it should be. The point i am trying to make is this.. Some records as per my original list are first UK issues (original UK issue) and should be used at local do's without prejudice. As people on here have stated some Grapevine singles, an example is Oh Happy Day, Flame and King and the bold ones goes in excess of 50 quid and rightly so as it is an in demand UK original, another example is Al Williams on Grapevine also a UK original but the sevens isn't as it has had a UK issue before. As for Houseparty Inst on Cream isn't an original as it has been reissued on a number of occasions on Beacon all be it with a different "b" side. Justice for UK originals says I!!!! Just to reiterate, and i am not trying t sell anything here especially any Grapevine singles but this is how i feel. If its a first issue UK it can be referred to as an original. I would be interested to know what Neil Rustons view is on some of the stuff he has released in the past as in my view they are UK originals and i bet he feels the same way too
-
Cheers Pete, The reason i ask is although you sell them as reissues the likes of Horeses are beginning to seem quite rare as opposed to the Shrine UK for want of a better word second UK issues and within time demand may build up to the point "original" 60ts issues have today for certain labels. Where do we stand and i guess this is were the collector draws the line, with items that have been issued for example on Grapevine (late 70ts) and the "reissue" on Sevens etc? wouldn't one be the original UK issue and one a reissue!!!! are they both reissues although one has been issued in the UK in the past, to me one is the original UK issue the other isn't but taking your point neither are original. i don't want to sound bitchy here but how come demand doesn't make a record an original?
-
Some my say these are reissues but in the cases below i am sure they got their first UK release as below and shouldn't be frowned upon if played out on these labels. Eddie Carlton and James Fountain (Cream) Walter and the Admirations Man oh Man (Soul City) bet this one causes a reaction!! Pat Lewis No one to love (Bee Cool) Gerry Grainer I go to pieces and EJ Chandler etc (Casino Classics) All the Shrine releases on Horese's Records were first UK release(Prior to the UK Shrine) Ede Robin There must be a love somewhere (Crystal) 1000 wonders Archie Bell and the Drell (WB) demo to promote a CD Other on Gold Soul/Sevens/Inferno/Kent etc and some free disc from nighters Don't want to open a can of worms but surely they are genuine UK issues..No? Any others i have missed............ Cheers John

Les at King Bee Records in Manchester has got one, and he's had it ages because he collects Reggae, he told me about it a couple of years ago, but didn't mention he had a spare at the time. When i called in a month or two later he tells me he sold his spare the same week were talking about it. you can guess my disappointment!! Cheers John PS I think he sold it for about a ton and both are UK Dr Bird

This is true... I do the very early spot at the Rat Pit in Bredbury, Stockport and one night i am there playing to me self when in walk two girls (mid aged women actually) nothing strange here i think the hubbies must be chatting with Dave on the door. Anyway they get a drink a piece sit down and then one wanders over to me, nice one a request!!! She says to me have you got any Cliff? She gets a bewildered look back "Do you mean Cliff as in Cliff Richard says I" Yes comes the reply. This is a Northern Soul night is my response. Oh she said and ambled back to her seat and her mate. Me, I shake my head and pull out Bobby Womack Something for my head!!!!!!! and give it a spin. The girls stayed until chucking out out time. Just amazed me Cliff must have an NS following somewhere. Cheers John
