  1. I think this is it from Bonnie Miller on Astro Records found also on Casino Classics The Forgotten Floorshakers which is really very interesting this is from 1974 the record on the Master label Alder Ray is number is 1004 (see scan above) according to discogs 1003 is The Masque dated 1970. The Alder Ray is missing from the list, but next is Little Stanley Got Back 109 1975. Master 1005 is J Frank Wilson Give Me Tomorrow (no date) so this seems to fit in with that dateline of Alder Ray and the two Houston labels in between. Oh the writers are the same in both records Fred Hughes and Joseph Allen. Does anybody know the link between the two singers? https://www.45cat.com/label/master-houstontx https://www.discogs.com/label/420716-Astro-Records-11
  2. Found this patent that Tom Rouse was granted as Trade Mark for Rouser Mar 13 1970 which lists full name as Thomas Earl Rouse, this may help with searches, although I was unable to find anything else. Always liked the devil trademark on label.
  3. The other Rouser single was The Past, Present And The Future - If I Could Live For Eternity, RI 3542 label indicates that they were formally the Mandells in addition contains information the same as found by The Yank : A Building Community Art Project.. In addition the El Corols on Rouser RI 2964 the b side is called Aint No Bragg but is Chick Chick info in 45cat as follows :Track B Copyright as Chick-Chick (No brag, just fact) w Arthur Barge, Jr. m Edward Hicks, Jr. Appl. Ti: Ain't No Brag (c) Fangette Music 7JUL69 EU122710 [Notice as Chick Chick (Ain't no brag) (c) Fangette Willett 26FEB70 v99 p166]. So as Simon T indicated above El Corols was released 3 times once on Tiny and twice on Rouser!
  4. Have recorded the MP3s of both Fairmount and Rouser versions from YouTube using Audacity and checked whether they are the same speed using a Beats Per Minute program called BPM Counter. I've assumed that the recording were put on to YouTube without being speeded up. This is what I found, Fairmount 158.21 bpm and Rouser 159.47 bpm, so Rouser only very slightly faster that would suggest that despite Fairmount lasting 2:39 minutes and Rouser 2:31 minutes (from recording) they are the same speed and hence the Rouser one is just chopped from Fairmount original as Chalky suggested.
  5. Another connection between Tuffy, Quaker, Fairmount is Pecle pub/music looking this up in 45cat found this link to Faye Simmons and the connection to Philly soul etc. http://www.45cat.com/record/nc353733us In addition The Yank/Blackpool soul suggested that from the date stamped on the DJ copy that it was recorded in Nov 1966 and that the issue was released early 1967. Looking at 45cat this would seem likely: F-1016 :Lonnie Youngblood Nov 1966 F-1017:Frankie Beverly and Butlers 1967 but month not mentioned F-1018 Gene Waiters 1967 as above F1019 Daddy Kae and Yvonne Feb 1967. So that places Frankie Beverly F-1017 release to Jan 1967.
  6. The strange thing is that above Souljer6 mentioned a Constellation acetate is there a photo of this acetate would interesting to see what details, if any are on this?
  7. Clicking link to Popsike says was released on the Exodus label, which is a semi independent Chicago label started in 1966 which was dependent on Vee-Jay Records for Masters & sleeves (Wikipedia). So interesting. Chalky yes it is a test press
  8. Think this was the original acetate which I downloaded when it was on ebay, it is dated 9th March 2009, but dont have the information from the seller, I seem to remember there was a sound byte. The original acetate which is just about readable says Mill Edwards as commented above!
  9. Sad news in deed and condolences to the family, I too, have enjoyed the pain and joy of phone calls at 8 in a morning, but was always very pleased when the "mint" record arrived. Enjoyed chatting to John at Cleethorpes in the record room and his stories were amazing, wish I had recorded them, went to see what John had first before going to the other dealers his records were always quality and with the green Soul Bowl sleeve, you will be solely missed. Top dealer and Gentleman, Ronnie

  13. Hi Kenb, Do like the idea behind these connections, think they are really difficult to do, but think its a good start, the most obvious connection to me would shrine label/eddie singleton/motown which Andy Rix has researched extensively. Although its the ones that surprise you the most which have the biggest impact! Great stuff Ronnie

The much anticipated unreleased Motown 1966 has not appeared yet, although have done a search on the internet and some information is available, previous release of unreleased 1965 was 11th December 2015 (according to Amazon) wondered whether anyone had further information on tracks and release date, says 80 tracks on Soulful Detroit? https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?17853-Any-info-on-motown-unreleased-1966-yet

Allways had such great stories about record hunting and the artists he met which was a passion, the record he allways was most proud of was Love Friends and Money James Lately (What a record !) Glenn was allways with us at Prestatyn at the pub on a Saturday afternoon where we had such a good laugh Jim Smirk, Andy Roberts, Ron Roberts, Dave Gosling, Glyn Genders, Johnny Vare, Dave Pointon(another one gone) so wont be the same.
