  1. been wondering on this myself, comes all the way from the US of A,in one piece,HOW?
  2. KevH replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
prefer Otis Leavill myself, how much is it going for?..KEV.
  3. surely these two records are of a different genre to BWoods?, like comparing a '66 Jaguar to a '78 Capri?
  4. what a weird and wonderful scene we've got!! If a record get plays by certain dj's,the search is on to acquire said toon, price goes up,records sell out and are buried in collections,no problem with that. If a record is re-discovered and cheap, same again. If a record is a proven rariety, you pay the price according to who's selling, what they want for it at the time, and your funds. If you get a real bargain, how many jump on the phone to tell all and sundry to "go get one yourself",before the price rise? Pay only what you can afford, after all we are controlling the market........are'nt we?? BTW....what constitutes a "rare" record? What quantities are we talking about, after 50,100, 200?.Is the market "swamped" at 200?
  5. got "GBAS" on Uk Stax ,does anyone else think the bass line in the toon is over produced giving it a "thud"??,or is it my system?is it the same on the import?,,KEV.
  6. WELL SAID PETER, only thing is there seems to be peeps out there wanting to scupper that idea. And they want to wash their laundry in public.good people on the scene will always rally round to protect it,,see my earlier post,,i wasn't very happy when i wrote that.
  7. the soul scene is a myth, well the "get along with everyone bit", just as in real life there's scum ,and there's good people. Cos your'e dancing alongside someone feeling a toon for 3 minutes, don't make them your best mate. Here's a novel idea, try to get to know em first .If you went to the pub,you wouldn't expect to be bosom buddies with all in there........... would you??
  8. for every bargain you get ,you pay the price on the next sound, always happened, swings and roundabouts. Sometimes its nice to pick up a record thats out of vogue. Price guides are only "guides",and you can pick up a bargain depending on who you know, not what you know .Well done on the Paris Blues Pete. ................225 you say?
  9. overplayed or not, deserves to be in collections, quality toon
  10. never was the sharpest knife in the drawer,,,you rotter sir.......i'm gonna spend all my time on SS trying to get you back btw haven't you got something you should be doing?
  11. what area are you refering that plays The Exits too much?.They must have good taste,Leonard Jewell Smith records can be played all nite for me. Person-ally,if i never hear "Standing on solid poo" AGAIN,it will be too soon.
  12. can't eat, can't sleep, what's this thing that's got a hold on me... CASE OF LOVE,case of love, Paul you got a real bad case of...vinyl addiction. Look on the bright side though....you are not alone
  13. and who's gonna cook the full english this year???
  14. KevH replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
not everyone's cup of tea, personally i love it ,and it's got played at our's by myself a couple of times over the past year.Underated and underplayed IMO,,KEV. (I mean BNAG, not TMFANL ,i ain't got that!)
  15. STEVE L is in the CARIBBEAN so he can't make it
  16. KevH replied to a post in a topic in Record Sales

  18. KevH replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Without a doubt the biggest influence for me ,,Tats Taylor. Unabounded enthusiasm, knowledge, the ability to cut thru the crap in the scene,he put up with me for quite a long time.Never tired of talking "soul",and the tapes played on the way back from the Mecca/Wigan were a genuine influence.Bring back tape sounds!! One of the first times i went to his place when he lived at home,he'd got records hidden underneath rugs and carpets,45's everywhere(duke browner on impact was one "hidden" gem).I was still at school at the time ,Tats and just left. Others,,,Roose,Nige Willets,Curly,Mick Padley,Johnny Maddocks,,,,,,,,,dj in the early days? ............Colin Curtis, never afraid to push the boundaries,,,,,,now?..............the list is endless............
  19. the cherry is not to be picked
  20. oops, your'e too quick for me
  21. hi,we all know its Little Ann now,but just been listening to it after quite a while... WHAT A SOUND!!!. Lyrically superb, heart wrenching delivery, ace dancer. Got me thinking, was this record ahead of its time and the benchmark of a change in "northern "style ? (imvo). Richard Searling championed this record at Wigan all those years ago,so I THANK YOU SIR. Seem to remember seeing a 10 inch white label copy at a friends in the early 90's,but apart from that, who's got what in the vinyl department??

...then the nightmare began...released on British due to popular demand, was there no escape from the B&B FROM HELL.......
