  1. ...and change my name,get a job,have cosmetic surgery.
  2. Nice to see the medium of daarnce being used. at least he knows the words.Very short shorts, the "boys were nearly out of the barracks",as Alan Partridge would say . He's always welcome at a local club, freestyle is wot we're about.
  3. all you need to do is use Vinyl-ell patches, the new patch from the makers of Nicotineell. Available to you at all leading record shops, each patch has a record label printed on them.Only £4.99 a pack.
  4. perfect dancers both................

Four Sonics version is the later and far smoother take on the original(imo),and it does get played now and again.Mecca spin for CC. Hesitations used same backing for "she won't come back".
  8. 1073? NOW THERE'S OLDIES AND OLDIES .First heard this at Wigan, maybe 1975.Picked it up from Kirkby market in me dinner hour on Scepter LP in same year.Played it at home that day,not quite the same buzz from it as at Wigan . Nice hippy chick LP cover though.

you've found a hole in my theory ,aint got a problem with repitition myself.so long as its quality and not done for any other motive. I would dance to any of your toons regardless JJ,quality always gets me on the floor . I know , i'm such a creep!!!
  10. LEVINE CURTIS SEARLING BUTCH........do we only get 4 choices?
  11. KevH replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
to stop it happening don't go again for one.At a long nite/niter its up to the dj's to keep on the ball, if they are there. At an evening session it should'nt happen at all. Some repeats are acceptable, dependant on rareity and popularity though, but only the once imho. Its tempting for a dj to play a toon that filled the floor 3 hrs earlier. Answer= don't dance.Sorted.

hey up you GILL you. Might be able to get you a Lou Bond on Saturday,if the guy's still got it.Can't remember what he wants for it,but it won't be extortionate. He's one of the good guys.KEV.

WHO SAID OPTIMISM WAS DEAD . Late usually means in terms of the bar closing time where i come from. But then again do Northern punters drink enough to care when the bar closes?.Its all about the music int it?.I would have thought if a nite closed around 12/12.30 it would be ideal to then move on to the many, many events all around the country that finish later, therefore gettin the ultimate fix.Not everyone has the time or inclination to do all niters every weekend
  14. according to JM ,there's no significant proof which one was issued first, but i think it looks slightly better on Golden Gate(iv'e always thought this one was the "original",cos i came across the DTE one's at The Mecca and thought there was too many about ).
  15. So do i !!!!.while wer'e on the subject of CM and JT,whats the Curtis track on Polydor that JT plays?? .KEV.

,just happen to have one for sale,,ooops,....
  17. hi Phillipe that's the other one
  18. great post Spot, nail on head.
  19. first trip to Wigan was the worst.Been underage drinking earlier, then met up with the lads who had already been on the niter scene. "Lets go up to Wigan" they said." You coming?".I'd just had my membership come thru so it'd be rude to say no. 6 of us piled into a mini,i kid you not, and me being the littlest ended up on the handbrake,no seatbelt. All the way. Noticed the others seemed very awake for the time of nite,i was flagging.Great sounds on the way though. Got to Wigan at god knows what time,to the strains of Yvonne Baker,Jeanette Williams,Ann Perry etc. 2 of the lads on entry to the balcony area then produced a small baseball bat,and marched off to find a guy .Welcome to the world of Northern Soul. . After it closed ,i was knacked, but the others went swimming!Left me in the car, b*lloxed . Can't remember journey home but on arrival tried to make some sandwichs, which i fell into ,face first, to the shock of me mum. Never again? .Learnt from the masters, the art of staying awake. After that it was Mecca first followed by Wigan(sometimes).
  20. me heads hurtin now.Whatever you say Dave. . Didn't understand which formula suited re; your first post.I don't need to know, but you bought up the subject of "copying, nothing different, something different". "Fave subject",you've mentioned this before in OVERKILL thread, same context.Local clubs helping in demise of the Union. Agree with you about exciting dj's,but not everyone can be in their category, and therefore have real collections as you put it.Some lower league guys have to work harder to find a bit of quality,a hidden gem.Is the answer is to stop collecting/playing tunes until they're of a certain quality/rareity/price?.Just a thought. Dave ,never did i think you'd be worried about being shot down in flames. Gonna agree with Spot's post, and to mis-quote Vic and Bob," i will let it lie". See you at DKOF ON 22ND,or LIFELINE in FEB??.That beer's STILL on offer.
  21. hi Dave you dont like the East Midlands do you? .Ok,here's a list from about 2 weeks ago from EVENTS.A thread was started titled "32 EVENTS ON THIS SATURDAY",and someone had posted saying the Midlands was to blame. Here's the list from around the globe.... YORKS-5 LANCS-3 NOTTS-2 (?) BIRM AREA -2+ 1 A/NITER LONDON AREA -5 KIDDERMINSTER -1 SCARBORO-2 LINCS -1 (your area Dave) STAFFS -1 CHESHIRE-1 WESTON-S-MARE -1 DERBYS-3(1 Charity) FRANKFURT -1 PISA-1 WALES -1 Pretty much a good spread.Just an example. Not sure wether you like, copying, nothing different,or something different when it comes to a formula for a soul nite? Now your fave subject Dave. The closure of the Union.( not the Trent club Dave). As you rightly say ,best venue in the area. You seem to have a healthy interest in goings on in this area. Not enough happening in Lincs to get passionate about? Got a club in mind Dave when you refer to,"promoters justifying clashing by offering something different, playing their own records(as opposed to who's?)to 30 people instead of going to hear the guys with "real" collections"?.What's a real collection? Are you implying (not for the first time),that a small venue not to far away was the reason the Union shut? Suggest you speak to Mick H about this?.If you went to the last couple why do you think it closed? As for feedbacks,i guess you means LOOKBACKS?.Don't worry about what you put,so long as you've been to the venue and its constructive critism. That way how can you be shot down in flames? Merry Christmas Dave................
  22. its on a white label John, double sided demo. Got a feeling that "he who should'nt be mentioned" may have had something to do with it?,,KEV.
  23. Saw Colin Darwin and his missus at a niter a couple of years back........got a photo somewhere..........
  24. reliably informed by a non-soulie pal of mine that Mark Almond actually invented Northern, when he wrote and performed "TAINTED LOVE".
  25. hi Tony, need to pick your brains if that's ok. Is there any truth that KEN WILLIAMS(and the Babysitters) recorded "Get to know ya", (written by KW, later recorded by Bobby Treetop),for an OKEH session?. Later it was released on Spectator,,KEV.
