  1. Chin-meister ~ the highest accolade in the World of Chin.Someone who offers advice/info of the highest order, always agreed by Chinspectors to be most reliable. Chintz ~ flowery, superflous debate, possibly at the bar to attract the "ear" of a Chinmeister. Chinable/chinabilty ~ a nice chat with a complete stranger, again possibly at the bar (or in the loos) eg:" That fella over there's chinable, likes his Mirwood/Mira etc".
  2. On the chin ~ to over indulge in record conversation, usually at an all nighter (eg:"My god ,he's been on the chin all f*cking nite!!). Bending my chin ~ to be on the receiving end of someone "on the chin"(see above), eg:"He's been bending my chin all f*cking nite". Fiat Chin-quecento ~ 2nd car of a record collector, as in :"Just off to the Post Office Depot love,to pick up a "parcel" .I'll take the Chin-quecento".
  3. . The Chin - dustry ~ record dealers with great knowledge (ie:he knows!,he's in the chindustry)
  4. Hi,some words/phrases are unique to the soul scene, but seem in decline (ie; div, blocking etc),,so here goes..... Chinned ~ to have info on a record brought into doubt,or even disproven. Chin stirrer ~ to take part in a chin-off (3rd party),purely for mischief. Chin-off ~ facts in dispute sorted once and for all. (eg: i was there during a chin-off between......) Chin-ese ~ to talk in a less than factual way about a particular tune.(eg: yeah its worth blah,blah......) Chin out ~ to ask someone to butt out during a serious conversation whislt they are talking Chin-ese. any more?..KEV . btw, ought to mention this is a tribute to the term "CHINSTROKERS" , a personal fave of mine.
  5. HI DEAN, i'm after a Des O'Connor record which i believe was played at Wigan. So if you see his "Dick a dum dum",let me know.
  6. Jellybean, the "pathetic" bit was a joke.!! Was trying to say that a dj who only turns up once ,may well bring in 20 more punters than normal. Not saying you haven't got a life, hope you don't think i was,but some peeps lives are complicated, including dj's i guess (imho). Do agree with the feeling about dj's who turn up just before they are due on,not good form, and would hopefully prevent repeats if they were early. KEV
  7. could be that the venues too far away,a ball ache to get to. They prefer somewhere else when not on the clock. Didn't like the venue when they dj'd there ,but are too polite to say? Maybe they've got a life outside of the scene.whoops. Let's not confine this to dj's,what about people who only go to a venue to hear a certain dj?.Pathetic...can't they go to any place regardless?.
  8. From Bilthorpe way i think, collected a bit as well in the early days.Wonder if they're still in his loft??? .
  9. Dave Kettle?.That's him, Kev Burke.Still at HMV?,must be a content chap.
  10. Mandy ,at the back (dukeries photo)about 5 from left is Kev....?,used to go to Wigggan and Mecca.Worked in HMV in 4 Seasons for a while. He's still around, but not in a soul capacity.
  11. everybodys' tall around me .
  12. cheers Rod,record arrived safely,,,before cheque had cleared!,,KEV
  13. Fond memories of the Palais. From the dance competions to the revolving dancefloor it was all good stuff.Don't know why but "Zola" always reminds me of upstairs.Used to like seeing Colin Curtis downstairs, whistles n all!!. Went to a Friday allnighter once and went straight to work on the No 61 ,(or was it 84 bus?).Don't think i was much use that day .
  14. eerrr...ditto.
  15. Modulations is a great track Mak. Another on Buddah that i'm lovin at the moment is "Tell me who" - Five Stairsteps, another one that won't break the bank. There's of course the other version of "Just another guy(on a string)" by Stage 1V.
  16. was that a Spanish venue?
  17. AAAHH!,a lady drawn to bright shiny things.Unheard of . Keep seeing people around who are not on here tho'.
  18. your'e right Winnie, word of mouth is still very important. With technology more accessible, flyers have got more sophisticated. But there's always an issue with cost,re:dodgy flyers. I love to see flyers at venues, plenty of expression and passion put into most. As long as the important stuff is on the flyer, not a problem. The big question is "do they work?".At the end of the day people go where their music is,regardless of how sophisticated the flyer.
  19. but Cliff, that would only make you 6 when you found 'em surely?. On a serious note seem to remember one coming up on Ebuy, maybe a year ago with very tentative bids on it.Can't remember the outcome tho'.
  20. must be good!.Sold my Quotations some time back, another regret.Still turns up now and again tho'.btw,,the DiVenus label is one of my fave designs!!. Is the Eddie and Ernie a different cut from the Jay Boy one Ady?.
  21. depending on my mood this could change ,but for now...the slow stuff... EDDIE PARKER - CRYING CLOWN -GOOGA MOOGA MARVIN GAYE - WHATS GOING ON - TAMLA M DJ MINNIE RIPERTON - LOVING YOU - EPIC EMOTIONS - LOVE OF A GIRL - VARDAN INTENTIONS - DON'T FORGET THAT I LOVE YOU - PHILLIPS.
  22. Got a video of my son dancing to "Standing on guard" when he was about 2yrs old. He's nearly 18 now, and the record has still got a special place in our house.
