  4. That'll be JM then....................
  5. stop it Steve, dreaming of finding a red one !!!.I'm playing it at home if that's any help. Top tune and no mistake...................
  6. well apart from the ones Chris kept....... One guy in Mansfield claims Rob gave him a box of "unknowns" to sell on Mansfield Market. Knocked em out at a couple of quid each...........

  8. Mel,has anyone mentioned.. Heartstoppers -"Brainwashed by love". Betty Baker - "Marching out of you life" ( could it be claimed by Clee ?). Carlettes - "I'm getting tired".
  9. that's cheatin' . i would have said -"get yourself down here"
  10. Not sure if "SWM,AMI "- Diane Jenkins was played Mel,was def a tape sound for us on the way up and back from Blackpool. "I need you" was mainly played as the instru i think.(Still want a spoken intro version.. ). Christine Adams - "Loneliness is always around",love it to bits, can't remember it at Mecca tho'.
  11. Same here, got mine from JM's shop in Newark.Sold it to...? can't remember, but always regretted it.Good sweet soul flip as well.
  12. Lee Fields - price rise due to t'other side gaining spins i guess. Market value?.JM's auction it went for 750 to a well known dj last year.Popularity down to a certain dj playing it,great tune btw. Imho, should fetch around the 250 mark, no problem.
  13. No-ones baiting you Ian.But,not everyone wanted Hamilton Bohannon. .The Mecca crowd were being led by the hand by Colin and yourself, thru Northern into the newer stuff.I quite enjoyed the later sounds, not bothering my little head whether they were "Northern" or not. Its only since, to some extent, that the Mecca 's direction has been called into question.I would have personally preferred, in hindsight, for the Mecca to carry on at the cutting edge of the "Northern" scene and miss out on the likes of Hamilton Bohannon .Imo....a groundbreaking venue.
  14. Back on topic, which venues are shutting down?..Names please.
  15. post deleted.....was in reply to Rob's post, but don't want it to be misunderstood.
  16. don't get your post.......
  17. i heard it was Marvin Gaye's cut out figure of Chris Marriot. Not a good day for the owners/staff who work there. Been for a meal, not my kind of place.Good luck to them for the future tho'.
  18. Hi Martyn, i care. .I was using the term "disco" in reference to an earlier post.
  19. agree,in good company too Danni, heard a certain Butch quite likes it too..................
  20. You're right up to a point Andy. When the Meccca moved into its "disco" phase, the foundations for the next 30 years had already been laid. IL then chose to move the scene on.Broadening the horizons of soul music.Lots of "classics" claimed by other venues were actually broke at the Mecca. Far sighted or blind,,the choice is yours. Last thing tho', lots of the so called "disco" sounds of the period are standard fodder at so many venues. Off topic a little ,apologies.
  21. Please Mel,stop claiming Benny Troy as Mecca!!!! .I really don't like it,so therefore must be a Wigan sound . Could you confirm that Major Harris - "call me tomorrow" , was a Cats tune?? .Or have i misread your previous posts?? Anyone for East Coast Connection????. Pat Lundi - Party music still does it for me
  22. maybe the other side is getting attention as well?
  23. yes,off the same LP. Pssss...don't mention "I'l be your sunshine",or everyone will want the album .
  24. a few more ,not my particular faves, always remember Notts Palais rocking to these .... Long gone- Debbie Fleming What a difference etc- Esther Phillips. One LP track......Vernon Burch - Aint gonna tell nobody
  25. i would hazard a guess at 7.
