  1. Well i'm doing a 22 and a half minute spot on Sunday(is it double time? ). So i would like, nay ,demand payment .What's the going rate for 22and a half minutes these days Beeks?. After all i think i am a DJ,therefore i am. Also anyone who needs the room clearing at the end of the night - look no further.Gone are the days of hiring Bouncers to "help" people out of the door. Just hire me...Kev "Bouncer" Holmes.(DJ/Bouncer).

  3. well everyone - apart from you . Don't see a problem with folk asking to do a spot...............its the polite "No Thanks" that's the arkward moment. If you don't take youself too seriously its no problem,,,

  9. Never knew that! Hammond organ backing!!.Slightly diff vocals as well(701).Tune!!!. Got the 60001 version, going to dig it out and play it this afto.
  10. that's right - meant its an accessible sound,easily remembered.Ad man's dream.
  11. My thoughts as well Des.Its almost too perfect in production. As for it being popcorn ,its a Motownesque rip-off,vocally i think she's quite soulful.A dancer as well.A little twee for today's scene in the light of harder tunes. Could be the next Frank Wilson if the ad men pick up on it .
  12. This is for James Trouble.I was looking for something, when i came across this and thought of you!! I think its gassy maan.!!
  13. What's your thoughts on Northern Soul fridge magnets?.
  14. Nick Cave at his best.
  15. Pete, send him a copy of Dean Barlow - "Tird Window from the left",he''ll know how angry you are. No-one wants that in their collection, and if he's a dealer,he'll struggle to get rid of it.
  16. Separated at birth,me and you Beeks. .Cunnie was half right in his earlier post - its sh*te in both camps. . When Benny Troy gets played look for the guy with a face as long as an DFS sale......its me.
  17. ....on Smash. Sorry Pete.Hard luck over the record.
  18. My copy of the Snake does that tooo.......
  19. What DO you mean? "You lot" .I hope you're not suggesting i dress up at weekends. "I wouldn't be a member of any genre......if they wanted me as a member" .(not quite the "original" quote).
  20. Lets take a SS favourite Paul as an example - The Carstairs. Its a 73 release i think, but very obviously 70's.Played everywhere as a virtual new release, maybe a year old at most.Very different production and construction from most late 60's tracks. At the time accepted by the Northern scene. But is it too modern for some nowadays? . There always seems to be the question of a trad nite being exposed to Modern when its not wanted. Does this happen the other way round? At Modern nites do any dj's throw a curve ball in - Mel Torme,Dena Barnes,Lou Pride, for instance ,just to see how it goes down.?
  21. JM's got one listed for 20.
  22. i was close .
  23. Tats should come on to confirm i guess, but i think the story goes that he and Gilly found it on an acetate in the states, played it in the store at 45rpm,recogonised it as something they knew ,spun it at 33rpm and hey presto!. Had the honor of touching said disc quite some time back(1992/3),whilst Tats went into orgasm before playing it me .
