  12. At least you could guarantee a full house - of dj's. . My only concern is that most Sunday sessions were/are put on as an alternative, socially and musically. But the playlists from some seem to tell another story.(not knocking what's played at all). I suppose after a few beers,we all revert to type, and there's only so much chill out music a man(or woman) can stand. In the end they look ,and read ,like yet another soul night. The chill out factor is that its Sunday afternoon, not the music. I must add that ive not attended one, this is an opinion from the outside....Kev.
  13. Hi Gilly.Good point raised here. How long between recording and putting to vinyl is considered ok?. If it was a month and we (on the soul scene) on non the wiser,no problem. But when it becomes common knowledge that, say, it was a few years gap, then we get the jitters. .Sorry to be off topic btw.

  19. A friend played Robert Walker to me the other week, forgot how good it sounded.
  20. Never said first ......or second Warren.
  21. The classics are not to be repeated!!! The set in stone classics will remain so.!!!!.But,its been said on here funky stuff as always been played on the scene, right from the beginnings. I'd love a quid for everytime someone has said to me "Can you imagine how Manifesto(insert any funky sounding oldie) would sound now,for the first time.?". Headsy's right to worry though. The funky NS has got to be just that.NS with a funky twist.Still keeping that ethos at the heart. Tweak the sound too far one way and it becomes deep funk or even, heaven forbid disco,if the beat becomes too dancy. That's when the venue and the music doesn't resemble the core that NS scene was built on, it becomes another beast entirely.
  22. Great Burnley record..
  23. Hi Fuzzj, how's about Ron Matlock - "you got the best of me",is that crossover?
  24. Can i ask a question?.Is Buddy Conner - "When you're alone",considered crossover?.Danced to it twice (in 2 different rooms) recently at Rugby. I need to know what i'm dancing to.
