I suppose a lot of the mystery has gone out of c/u's.BITD they were generally out of the reach of most,being genuinely hard. Now its more fun covering a record that doesn't cost the earth. Recently there was a c/u that was a new release,out of Manchester,an instru by a bunch of students i think.For me,not enough mystique in that record,to give it "legs" on the scene. The Flamingo's c/u recently caused a ripple for a while in some venues,not an unknown,just missed in the rush.And certaintly not expensive. Like SteveG said,when a record is uncovered it depends how you (the dj) view the c/u.Do you laugh it off? Or feel pissed off? Sitting at home nowadays, you can Google the bollx out of the scene.That should give you an indicator of wether to c/u a tune or not...

I would like to hear anyone's account of this being played at Wigan.Maybe a "tape sound" ?

Another who may be able to help is Al Taylor from Doncaster i believe.He was a Mojo dj went to the Wheel etc,and he did his own Stax/ Volt revue a year or so ago in Sheffield,using archive footage. Sorry can't remember his user name as he does'nt come on here much nowadays.

Quite a tough one i think on Magic Touch (?) Andy Dyson spin,possibly Karl Heard among others.Had the good luck to see him do "Trackdown" live at Brooklyn back in October.Love it.

.Why's that.? I mean why are you putting up with the same 50 songs.? Back on topic. Said i was going to do one niter/soul nite per month this year (resolution),but my travelling partners looked at me like i 2 heads. . Having to watch money,health,family matters etc and still pull in nighters....some times things have to give.And those things,in the main, are the soul nights.Got a couple of trips sorted for April,not looking beyond that for now. I think the screws are going to tighten a bit more before it gets better.
