  1. That was my maths Winnie, based on estimated info given (Promoters thread).Meant to be tongue in cheek figures. How many would trek up to the decks? Chinstrokers night - 10%.?.The others would assume it was ovo? Oldies night - 1%.? The others probably dont care.?
  2. I'm well thanks... Didn't see Kev stood with you when i said that.. .
  3. Maybe playing boots is all about feeling cheated. From a punters point of view. You either feel cheated,or you don't.Or you don't care. Seems that most who dont care, are more interested in dancing, and nothing else. Take away the dancing, the clothing ranges, the market sales in the foyers...and what you left with??. You're left with people who have travelled to collect, met the actual people involved in the scene we love, chronicled and catalogued the music we love, crate dug, bought and sold at venues, stuck their necks out to spin the vinyl, opened and promoted venues.People who are proud to own an original copy of a record that's part of our "history in the making".Lots of folks own,or have owned boots.Nothing wrong with that. But if you're going to represent the Scene,by getting behind the decks,do it justice and play ovo.
  4. "Help wanted" / "A lady's man" looks the same as Chalky's scan of Storm Warning.(first issue). "Help Wanted" text, slightly less defined, and paler, than the text on "A Lady's Man". HW in run out... A - VOL - 4 ALM in run out...A - VOL - 7. Thoughts.....?
  5. Strangely, with some UK releases,it seems ok to play some and not others. Its down to the dj's integrity, the venue/promoters expectations, and of course the people attending's expectations.
  6. You mean me Kev.? Brawling drunk? I asked a question with relevance.Couples - as in boy/girl dancing in the USA to soul music.Very different from our dance scene in the UK.Just wondered if there was a shift in style. Sorry to have bothered you.
  7. My question was genuine.Would have liked a response. On topic as well.
  8. Why two couples? Have they got to dance boy/girl?
  9. And just to add to Steve G's post - Feb 29th 2012 is free at the moment. Its a Wednesday,so should suit Mace,Stevie, and myself.
  10. You live it 24/7 anyway Steve.Like me. I've heard you can get your roots done on these cruises.
  11. Promoters will never get together on a large scale. For instance, close down 3/4 ,200 attendance venues within 25 miles.? Maybe 4/8 promoters involved, possibly 20 dj's.? But nevertheless, one big venue opens.1000 folk capacity.1/2 promoters,,6/8 dj's...200 folks dont/cant make it...oh f*ck me,where's the punters who wanted this i hear the cry.!! There's no answer...apart from choose where you go for YOU and your friends, and choose wisely.
  12. Every soul night having 200 in..? 85 x 200 = 17,000.(ave of £5 otd = £85,000) 5 x 500 = 2,500.(ave £10 otd = £25,000) + 2,000.(add another £20,000) 21,500 peeps on the move this weekend? £130,000 thru the tills.? I'm starting one up................
  13. I know you're not really grumpy Chalky. But you can't have enough info on these subjects, plus as you get older the memory goes.
  14. Mr.Grumpy.Wait till the Mirwood thread starts. .
  15. Looks good.Defy anyone not to get the hairs on the back of the neck feeling when Lou Pride kicks in !! No mention of nicking a moped to get home Tezza? What was up with the guy in the cravat, looked a bit excitable.

  18. I hear ya Brother Terry. In a nutshell,"new" or "upfront" means nothing,if you need to hang you hat on a reference point such as Wigan. Going to some "upfront" nights feels almost like rediscovering music all over again, almost like creating history, just for the night. How many nights/niters can you name where that feeling grabs you?
