  1. Sticking with a bit of Motown....
  2. Plea accepted.
  3. Yes,dont want to single out any venues................
  4. See what you're getting at now Winnie.Burnley.Lets put this straight, not everyone was unhappy with a certain dj's set, just a couple. Some people let it ride, some downright enjoyed the set. Some spoke out.9 hours or so of good music, and about 30 minutes not to one's taste? No different from alot of nighters.
  5. Without prolonging the Burnley incident, some people expectations are different from others. Some sounds fit a venue, while others don't.Doesn't mean these tunes aren't good. Imagine playing xover at a hardcore r'n'b night.!! It wouldn't work. The limitations are set by the direction of venues at the time in question..and of course with the benefit of hindsight,we've all been "limited" at some stage during our soul careers. Personally i'd rather know in advance what i'm being served up before i go to a venue.I suppose that in itself is limiting.
  6. Or available on the P-Vine Peachtree LP.
  7. Yes remember the articles Chalky.Mines's a type 3 label.Really just after info on who it was who did this particular disc.
  8. She did Brooklyn last October.Highlight for me was "I'm evil tonight".She told a couple of stories of her early days in between songs. "12 red roses" does it for me as well.
  9. Morning campers!!!...Here's Larry Chubby Reynolds - Sweet tooth (no "E" on the end).
  10. There's a TMG ---,on a motor possibly Lincs way......The way my year's started i could be looking for B1 LLS. Saw a nice old lilac Merc with 6ABY on the plate...nice.!!
  11. Yes,i guessed it wasn't worth anything!!.BC only got brief plays, then sold a lot in the US anyway. Its the timing of the two tracks that's got me.Where they played at the same time? And who's responsible?
  12. Hi,iv'e got an acetate on the plain Audiodiscs label,Capitol Magnetics Winchester VA. Handwritten credits in blue fine pen. One side Jimmy Burns - "I really love you." This has about a 1 second blip in the volume, the sound dumped.Right in the middle of the recording. The flip is quite intriguing.Bernadette Castro - "Get rid of him",again with the 1 second "silence". I have asked around once about this, nothing definite came out of it,although some good pointers. Over to you chaps for info, origin etc.... Thanks....Kev.
  13. Oscar Perry - £400/500 ?
  14. They don't make em like they used to.......CC at the wheels, at the Mecca.
  15. The plot thickens again - there's three of them in the photo Pete. .Also "A" and "I" are nowhere near each other on the keyboard.
  16. Is the Twans not rare then Bob.? Good to see some real evidence to put the Swans/Twans story to bed. While we're on the subject,if a Twan is not a misspell - what's a Twan.?
  17. Dont know about "whole bunch of collectors" Geese, maybe the same few with more money than sense. There's always been dj's/collectors not interested in the quality of music - just dance value. Then again, they've always been outweighed by people who just came to dance, and not interested in value or quality.
  18. Geese i'm not following you..."so many that are'nt interested in anything that isnt a well known sound"? If that's the case, the rare scene would be thriving.
  19. Tucked away on the flip of "I'll always love you"....spun at Burnley now and again......
  20. Hi,looking for price, on Strands on Tarx. Cheers..Kev.
  21. Hi Lorenzo, did i read you've got a doo-wop background? Most NS are records that didn't make the grade commercially for whatever reasons. Some were minor local hits in the US.Rarity of these 45's followed.Any similarity with the doo-wop scene.? These tunes were picked up by us Brits, the phrase was coined, and the search for the Holy Grail of NS goes on.
  22. PACESETTERS - I'M GONNA MAKE IT - MINIT..VG+,v slight ring wear,radio station stamp.....£40 AALON BUTLER & NEW BREED - ITS GOT TO BE SOMETHING - PKC...VG+....£40 JAMES BROWN - MONEY WON'T CHANGE YOU - KING..VG+....£12 CAPITOLS - I'VE GOT TO HANDLE IT - KAREN..EX..drill hole....£10 FIVE STAIRSTEPS - DONT WASTE YOUR TIME - WINDY C...EX....£20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdPfn_9yhXs MAJOR LANCE - SWEETER AS TH DAYS GO BY - DAKAR...EX ..£10 SPYDER TURNER - YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME - MGM..EX..drill hole...£10 WINFIELD PARKER - I'M ON MY WAY - SPRING..EX...£15 Cash is King,Paypal also ok. Thanks...Kev.
  23. Well yes.The first hour warm up.Why not.?
  24. I call it the "Comfort Zone" Steve. Some people are willing to hear new tunes which are out of their comfort zone.Others are freaked out by it,and return to the womb.Open mindedness is the key.Until you reach that awkward age, when "change" is alien.
