  1. A version of Jimmy Fraser?
  2. Ron Kenoly? Always thought of that as a soul record.Just goes to show, one man's funk etc......
  3. As we all know "7 day lover" is funk. But here's James Fountain's other funk tune.Flip of "My hair is nappy"..... [media=]
  4. Thought you were a meat man Simon ,not quorn lol.Nice spins. All the best...Stanley Unwin.
  5. I don't know Terry, there's enough sub's waiting on the bench at most venues.
  6. No doubt we'll have this conversation next week Terry (again),but,as you know, i enjoyed George Mahood's spot at Redemption. Not all of it,but just as much as the other dj's on the night.Whether GM's spot was NS enough is another discussion point.!!!
  7. Yes i know Chalky, been around a while this one.Wondered if it is funk. Back to Harvey Averne for a mo,is it Latin because he's a known Latin artist.Or because the beat is Latin? I can't hear a deal of L in it myself.......
  8. A bit obvious this one...is this too much..? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT_f27enZH4
  9. ....with the repo man on his way.
  10. Other side of Attractions - Burn up some road.
  11. But what genre of oldie ? Is it Northern?
  12. Where do tunes like Harvey Averne - "Never learned to dance" fit in.Funk? Disco?..fills the floor still all over the country.....booted etc.....not NS but has the balls played off it at NS venues.....
  13. Meant dj for the promoter clever clogs. And if you get booked and becomes friends with the promoter (heaven forbid),just dont let anyone know he wants to book you again. In fact say NO,to save face.Fall out with him and start ww3.
  14. Some of course do Tony. But how many times you heard "He's only here cos he/she's after a spot"......get behind the decks and your life is not your own i tells thee.
  15. I thought there were too many "dj's" on the scene.? If so ,how can the same ones keep being booked.? New blood?...according to this site, most either 1) haven't got the records or 2) play shite or, 3) never went to Wigan/Stafford - delete as neccessary. Last thing...who would dj for someone they didn't like?...
  16. Is this the sort of stuff that scares you?
  17. And meaning what they say.
  18. Thanks for clearing that up Benji.
  19. Example please of said "Sh*te".Funk is funk.
  20. Yes got as much place as any other non NS genre. As with other genres, there's good and bad.If it's funky ,its got to be gritty with a NS feel, not too "disco".
  21. I think it was the 5 minute mix. .Great record.
  22. Morris Chestnut sang "Tell me" at Prestatyn Jim.On 2 different VIP labels. One lined, one plain.
  23. The dj should stick to the remit of the venue. If they allow boots,cd's, mp3's,then you make your choice to play them or not.If its an OVO venue then its OVO.Integrity lies with the person, and situation in question. Not only the paying customers need to do their research. The promoters and dj's need to do it too.
  24. What's your favourite Frank Wilson tune, either as a writer or producer? I'll start off with this. And remember have fun, life's too short.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDhooSRdhoI
