Radio staion copy Brenton Wood - Sad Little Song - Double Shot Promotional handbill, with a message from Irwin Zucker to Johnny Thompson - KELP - El Paso, asking for his help. Page of Stats from various radio stations. What is the value on these.......if any, and has anyone else got stuff like this along with their record ? Thanks Phyllis

Picked up a copy of The Clovers...Try My Loving On You...Josie on a vinyl W/D. The usual copies that I`ve seen about are styrene issues, Manships guide doesn`t mention a W/D...... Is the W/D rarer than the issue? Whats your thoughts sourcers? The matrix in the deadwax reads...Joz-626-A- EY+SM..and SELECT SOUND (stamped).....It`s a vinyl copy as well!!! Thanks, Phyllis

Hiya Di I am a dancer and I DO care.....for me and many others, to hear the original played out wether it be a rare expensive record that I could only dream about having, or a cheap, brilliant, new to my ears sound is what the soul scene, for me was and still is all about. The years of travelling up and down this country was to HEAR certain DJs who you knew had certain records (original vinyl) OR they where guaranteed to make your head spin and your feet jump with something new. If everyone played boots and CDs then no-one would travel anywhere, venues would be empty and the scene would die a death, because there would be nothing to travel for. Keep the boots and Cds for Weddings and Discos, where they belong, certainly not on the soul scene, as for damaging really rare records, maybe you need to decide (or in some cases, your ego) if you are A or B and which of the 2 is more important to you and your collection. If your decision to be both then that is the risk you take. DJs with bigger sounds get paid bigger fees, because at the end of the day it is these rare big sounds (in there original format) that the paying punters have come to hear.........and of course dance to. A - collector B- Dj With respect Phyllis

So you are Davie..... Soul in the City is in Dundee and they play OVO......superb. Phyllis

St Johnstone Fc Supporters Await Verdict From Soul Police
Philly replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
My brother was part of "Shimmy" who were to my knowledge 60s mods, this is where I got my intro to soul music, from the records he would bring home, I also attended Lawside Academy and went to primary school with Billy McKenzie who was a good friend of another brother. Ned Jordan....what a star, attended many soul nights in Dundee, Royal Hotel, Laings and Angus Hotel to name but a few, and who could forget the "Maryatt Hall" allnighters, which was massive to Dundee, Ned and Keb Darge played, they were great friends, and of course Fat Sams when he took over there. We used to all go back to Neds mothers at Quarryknowe when she was on holiday after the soul nights to continue with the sounds. I also attended my first and only Wigan with Ned although at the tender age of 14, I had told him I was 17...had to, I had been attending soul nights over the last year...lol This for me was exciting and scary, I was petrified.... had to come clean about my age, he just laughed, but I was looked after. Looking back I can see I had a massive crush on him, he had the most gorgeous huge eyes...lol Ned is a very sad loss to the soul scene...rest in peace big guy. xx With respect Phyllis -
