  1. great record but definitely not one for the dance floor IMO..... I've played it out before and everyone went to sleep, including me. But it was a comfy soothing sort of sleep Martin

  9. Payment is fine by paypal (to martin@northern-soul.com) or cheque (or sterling money order). P&P extra but reasonable. VG+ means it has some (light) marks but unless stated it should play perfectly and definitely be fine for DJing I try and describe all defects and full money back if dissatisfied. If you would like to receive further lists (which I email to my mailing list first) please send a blank email to: subscribe-soulagogo45s@topica.com To reserve any records from this list please email: martinmthomson@yahoo.co.uk or you can PM me. 10. no I especially AGREED on Kurt Harris, dreadful record IMO, though yes I think you're right and he was over generous !
  11. LOL an excellent read and I agree with most of it (if not all), esp re Kurt Harris, more reviews please
  12. ha ha, I believe the instrumental side got played at Wigan to some extent.... I actually love it because I also love the UK (vocal) cover by The Action from 1967 but I would never ever dream of playing either side out at a northern soul night myself, but there ARE worse/less imaginitive/played out to death/over hyped records getting played out every week IMO.....
  13. Sorry that was posted by mistake under my wife's log in instead of mine....! Martin
  14. not a tune for me neither really, though if pressed I prefer the Emperors because it's just so doggone groovy and hammondlicious.....not very 'norvern soul' though at all IMO but a great tune at a more wide ranging sort of night....
  15. certainly wrote some of them along with Boyce/Heart Goffin/King etc. etc. I'd like to recommend the soundtrack from their 1968 movie 'Head' as essential listening, 'circle sky' and 'do I have to do this all over again' are austinpowerspsychepowerpoptastic (the film rules as well, in a period piece kind of way) Martin
  16. ha ha, though to be fair, it does sound like a $750 record (well $75 maybe ) Martin
  17. just remembered another one I recently played out (early!) High Keyes- Que Sera Sera (Atco) Cheap as tortilla chips! Martin
  18. Orchestra Harlow- that groovy shingaling (Fania) Joe Cuba- Psychedelic baby/El Pito/Bang Bang and others (Tico) Jimmy Castor- Block Party and It's Ok (both Jet Set) both have great latin bits/aspects in them (northern-latin crossover I think they're 'classified' as)
  19. come on Mike, share the pain, what was it
  20. on Bang Bang wanted. Any condition as long as it plays well and without surface noise (the sound of the actual track is OK though ). Martin
