  1. I saw her STILL selling mint Eskew Reeders only a few weeks back I'm sure, she must have made about ten million pounds from the thousands if not trillions of mint copies she had/has.
  2. Lee Gates on Enterprise Don't make it a habit/Nothing but wonderful (Enterprise) Anyone have an up to date value for this little double sided mid tempo detroit 45? (PS. I nearly sold a clean VG copy for 20 quid last year, nobody pointed out my pricing error and fortunately I happened to come across one on a list for 350 quid while I was pondering whether I had underpriced it, as it is rather good.... ) Not seen it mentioned otherwise though so I'm not sure if this is accurate or not (the copy in question is M-) oops sorry, had problems posting and kept getting an error, can one of the mods delete one of the threads!
  3. absolutely agree, superb record. been playing it out for some time. (Other side great as well) Martin
  4. Special guest Carl Fortnum. 8pm - 1am. O Neills, 73-77 Euston Road (formerly Drummonds).
  5. Various northern soul 45s up for grabs inc Erma Franklin Abracadabra, Rick Nichols - I know the feeling, Ike and Tina Turner Can't chance a breakup and many more https://www.record-dealer.com/categories.php?parent=1916
  6. lovely record, I have a UK Action one, but would it go at a northern night? always thought of it as more nice sweet 'listen at home' sort of tune myself?
  7. great record the Melvin Carter
  8. speaking of sampled drum action.... smokey joe's la la has a pretty beefy drum backing, though it probably scores higher for strength and timing than it does for imagination and lightness of touch
  9. actually, would it be possible to delete the thread, so I can start a new one 'Four Invaders on Bray, scarce newie, for sale 200 quid, seen for 300 on JM and PB'? Looks like I've cocked up again
  10. Yes, I expect you're right and therefore it's actually the hottest big sound around Tenyu Offers invited as unfortunately it doesn't register very highly the Solid Hit Soul quality quality-ometer (Patent Pending). I'm not holding my breath
  11. Just had a sudden urge to get this, anyone got one for sale/trade? Anyone decided to dump their crappy William Cummings on Bang Bang as well???
  12. Was just ldly checking Pat Brady's site, as one does, and came across this Four Invaders on Bray. Was shocked to see that it was listed for 300 quid, not least because I picked one up recently (for peanuts) and filed it away because it was far too cheesy pop (and I like cheesy pop).....so I, naturally, thought I must have made an error and passed over something rather special.... Now this isn't a dig at PB, but a genuine question- is this getting played anywhere or something? Just had a listen to the MP3 again, and whilst being a massive lover of hammond organ in absolutely anything, I have to say this is pretty dreadful IMO....Mrs Mills on keyboards??? Link here: https://www..co.uk/product_detail.asp?id=3001 As an afterthought, I thought I'd check JM's site just for comparison (expecting it to be listed for a tenner), and, blow me down, it's also 300 quid! https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/searchartist....t=FOUR+INVADERS but the other side is listed as the play side. Can't listen to this at work, so can someone tell me if its any good? (I can only listen to MP3 and only then if I can drag them onto my PSP to play them!) I'm hoping someone will tell me I have cloth ears and it's brilliant. Go on..... please.....
  13. good god, how could I forget the ULTIMATE drumming performance (IMO), me and the mrs we only just listening to this the other week on the stereogram at home. Sometimes it easy to overlook this utterly spectacular record due to the overfamiliarity. We've reactivated it on our living room and I suggest you do likewise. Roy Hamilton - the panic is on - go and listen, that drummer deserves instant recognition throughout the world as the very best drummer ever ever ever.... the track would only be a shadow if it's utter greatness without that drumming..... I salute you Mr Drummer....
  14. Two favorites of mine for utter drumming brilliance: Impressions- womans got soul (abc) brilliant brilliant brilliant Sylvia Robins- Don't let you eyes get bigger than your heart (Sue) (just listen to those amazing fills from the get-go!)
  15. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jan 12 2006, 02:16 PM) link QUOTE(mark.b @ Jan 10 2006, 05:26 PM) link i was thinking £40.00 inc postage mark so you dont want it then try and get one of ebay only way you might get one for £20. mark I thought we had established that Tim was actually after the 'do the cissy' side, hence the demo was OK, and hence 20 quid being a generous sort of price to offer for it?
  16. here you go, and come along to the next Solid Hit Soul if you want to hear it out (announcement of new date pending)
  17. on second thoughts Andy I don't think I did get mine from you, I got it from another andy (Andy Mac), sorry (got it last year). Though right enough, I was put onto it by Martin Gavin when I did a guest spot at Caledonian Soul last year
  18. t went quick to me Andy, and I then picked up a (much rarer I believe) issue, so sold the demo to a friend (which also went quick) for the same price I'd paid for it. Absolutely brilliant record (both sides) IMO. Price, not sure what would be 'realistic' as it's really not very well known at all in mainstream terms and both sides are very different but very excellent (one very gritty dancer, and the other sublime crossover) Martin
  19. do you mean what or why? not much IIRC, maybe 15 quid, great record, but hardly rare (if that matters anymore?) Martin
  20. phew, well I'm glad we got that sorted out happy hunting!
  21. no, the demo has the same track on both sides and not the more sought after 'I refuse to be lonely'
  22. with 'I refuse to be lonely' on the flip??? If so I'd say you missed a very large bargain (cue 'that's a crap record/no, it's a great record follow ups)
  23. are the cheers or patti drew cheapies any more though??? Martin (certainly P Drew was a few months back but a solid £40+ now, and well worth it I should add.... if anyone has a cheers for sale for 15 quid please PM me )
  24. I really like this and have played it out once or twice, but it's just a bit too 'choppy' innit
  25. afaik Norvells is a cheapie at 15-25 but a great record that could go up in price with more plays I reckon (played it a few times at solid hit soul in fact). Robert Ward is 15-20 on issue, not sure if worth much more on demo though. Martin
