  1. ha ha I seriously doubt it mate, there's one really good track on the album called 'that's what you do' - I'll see if I can throw up a sound file sometime (I'd have to make it first). I was planning on playing that one out a bit but due to lack of interest I never bothered to get it cut (can't be carrying LPs about )
  2. been playing this myself on and off for a year or two (from 45), don't think I've ever had a single person dance to it, not once, not express any interest in it. SWONS etc. I have a spare copy of his album 'The many souls of Turley Richards' on 20th Century with this track on it, cool sleeve as well
  3. burn his village to the ground. slaughter his cattle and poison the local river. and leave negative feedback if he doesn't pay up.
  4. PMSL I like your logic here we always end up watching JH and I fkn can't stand the smarmy twat and his line up of arse kissing mates. Plus the thing that riles me the most is the way every act is introduced on screen as 'Jools Holland and his wanky bank WITH'.... and then 'proper' musicians... the fact is, as stated, Sam Moore blew away everyone else without even trying, many of whom were trying their hardest to sound like soul singers, and making millions selling music to kids who no doubt would happily trample all over Sam and his generation to get a step closer to some identikit "indie" type band/singer. Placed next to a real soul singer, despite the questionable cardigan, you can't help but feel sorry for them as they'll never get there..... Anyway, glad I got that off my chest. I could go on about JH and his new year twattenanny but will take a deep breath and stop there. Can't wait for next year, I love a moan I do
  5. Yes, it should be as described. Calling it a 'definite original' means it should be so IMO. Let's a have a link so we can all get outraged. I can't quite believe you've posted this in this manner Pete, you must be feeling very chilled out today
  6. 5 from ones box.... orf the top of ones head.... Fuzzy Brooks - Now I'm in love with you (Puff) Vonns - So many days (King) Dorothy Ramsey - a real gone guy (Melodynamic) Maxine Davis - Another man (Guyden) Cindy Scott- I got news (Mirasound acetate)
  7. without wishing to be annoying, what does it go for now? Don't think the wife would let me sell mine unless there was something nice in it for her (like a holiday - and I don't mean a week at Butlins....)
  8. the alt version was sold on ebay a few years back, IIRC Benji from Germany bought it. Have to say I love both versions (the alt as a pure pop disc of course, but I love the overall sound on the issued version) and I would have plumped for the alt one for my collection had it not had such bad background hiss. So sue me.
  9. it would be a great relief if all the reissues could at least be in a seperate category so you could just avoid them but I guess ebay aren't interested. This was one of the things I had deliberately set up with my own little auction site (as in https://www.record-dealer.com/Northern-Soul...rent,categories - not used and facing impending extinction/sale due to lack of use/interest).
  10. I've got a spare sealed original, offers invited
  11. PMSL, absolutely classic - and £36 despite everthing - is the boot worth that?
  12. I absolutely adore 'In between the heartache' , gorgeous record, good luck with the sale
  13. can't believe you haven't sold it at the price offered, let alone the reduced price, absolute bargain IMO
  14. I don't know the answer but as I did read someone suggest elsewhere - why on earth would they use old soul records for ballast on ships - surely you would use something like SAND or something cheaper and more easily attainable and transportable.... seems rather unlikely that someone would say 'let's transport a load of old deleted 45 rpm records to the port so we can use them as ballast on our ships'....'yeah, great idea, I'll send some vans to downdown detroit....' it would be nice to get a 'whisky galore' type find somewhere on a coast to prove this theory though..... '300 copies of Lester Tipton reported washed up on the Isle of Skye this afternoon.....' soul content - washed ashore. I'll get me coat.....
  15. Good news- I DID WIN on Friday..... but the bad news is that I won £6.40. So.... what record to buy.....

  22. I've had one that shape as well, exactly same. My favorite mailing expereince was when one of the Tyn Tymes sent me a copy of their 45 in its pic sleeve in the mid to late 90's. I came home one day to find it wrapped only in a brown paper envelope with no stiffeners but if that wasn't high risk enough, the postman for some reason had left it ON MY DOORSTEP in seven sisters (tottenham) where I lived at the time.... incredibly it was in perfect condition..... and actually still there
  23. I really like both sides (in a funky/loungecore kinda way) good luck with it
